We'll be hanging out in Booth 6204 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Check out our latest portable system - the Buchla Skylab. If you've gotta have one, sign up for a thousand dollar discount (show special - good for 30 days)."

The Skylab, pictured left and above and consists of:

"System #4 - Buchla Skylab
1 Model 201e-3 Passive Frame
1 Model 201e-10 Powered Cabinet
1 Model 207e Mixer / Mike Preamp
1 Model 223e Tactile Input Port (4 panel units)
1 Model 225e Midi Decoder/Preset Manager
1 Model 251e Quad Sequential Voltage Source
1 Model 259e Twisted Waveform Generator
1 Model 261e Complex Waveform Generator
1 Model 267e Uncertainty Source/Dual Filter
1 Model 281e Quad Function Generator
1 Model 285e Freq Shifter / Balanced Modulator
1 Model 292e Quad Dynamics Manager

Total Panel units - 13
System Price - $14,950"

Also new is the Buchla Model 267e UNCERTAINTY SOURCE / DUAL FILTER

"The Model 267e combines a noise source, a random voltage source, and a simple two channel filter.

Noise comes in three flavors. White noise is electrically flat, but acoustically balanced toward the high end of the spectrum (+3 db/octave). Integrated white noise has a low spectral bias (-3 db/octave). Musically flat noise has a flat spectrum (constant energy per octave) and is a particularly useful source for subsequent processing.

Fluctuating Random Voltages are continuously variable, with voltage control of bandwidth over the range of .05 to 50 Hz, making possible changes that vary from barely perceptible movement to rapid fluctuation. Applied pulses sample these voltages, providing stored random voltages with wide time correlations possible. Externally applied control voltages may be randomized to any desired extent.

Two bandpass filters are provided, with voltage control of pitch, bandwidth and modulation index, but without the morphing or summing capability of the 291e. The filter's inputs are normalized to the flat noise described above.

All settings of the 267e may be stored and recalled under control of the model 225e or 206e preset manager."

Not mentioned in the latest news but on the Buchla systems section is the System 11 and System 12 to the left.

"The first is housed in a 201e-12 cabinet; the second in a 201e-18. Both systems feature our new quad polyphonic voltage-controlled f.m. tuner and our triple whammy envelope tracker/mike preamp. System #12 adds a 250e Arbitrary Function Generator and a 291e Triple Morphing Filter. Both systems are accompanied by the definitive treatise on vocoders, “How to Wreck a Nice Beach” by Dave Tompkins."

"Well - just before dindin prep. I went to go back downstairs to shoot some pictures of my modular, now that I've put all 5 of the new laminated paper panels, from all of the modules transfers that I've done. (Still far from complete.) Especially for, the 4 x Serge / CGS Universal Slope Generators that are all working beautifully. BUT - having started work on my first 'drone' piece in a long long time I decided that I would shoot this short video, explaining what I have hooked up and how. Since I were short on time though, the entire thing is more than likely explained much too quickly for anybody but myself to understand so ... please enjoy the nice blinken lightzen, but neine touchen das buttonzez mit der fingers er gerpoken somefin! I have no idea how it does what it does, so leave a comment if you think you know.

Roland TB-303 Bassline Synthesizer Signed by Captain Tinrib

via this auction "This specific synth I am selling is also autographed by the famous Captain Tinrib..
ABOUT CAPTAIN TINRIB & TINRIB RECORDINGS: Since before hard house was hard house, and we all called it 'hardbag', there have been a few names synonymous with this harder, energetic style of dance music. Undoubtedly one of them is Captain Tinrib - a true hard house powerhouse, with a penchant for all things nautical, and a very interesting dress sense (Hawaiian shirts, skiing goggles and protective red helmet?!). He released his first track way back in 1991 ('Nuclear Powered E.P.' under the Morphasis guise), and it was in 1995 that he set up his now legendary Hard NRG imprint Tinrib Recordings. At that time he went under the name of D.R. Base, and the first release on Tinrib had a collaboration with French producer called Karim Lamouri on one side called 'Barracuda', and the skipper’s 'Funky 303' on the other. Little did he know that it would grow into one of the most respected and popular labels in hard house history. He was called Funky 303 because his use of the TB 303 in his music."

MFB Microzwerg

YouTube Uploaded by SyntheticMachines on Jan 13, 2012

"Here is a quick demo of the MFB Microzwerg. All sounds are made with the Microzwerg. The most lines are triggered via the MFB Urzwerg over CV/Gate, some melody lines are played via Midi over Cubase. As always a multitrack recording with some effects (Lexicon, Strymon El Capistan, Ensoniq & TC Electronics ).
If i saw this little unit for the first time, i couldn't imagine what a huge range of different sounds are possible. And with the Urzwerg this unit is ecxellent for some
bleep & noise lines..."

Kawai K5M additive synth with MM-16 Fader controller

via this auction

"First of all this is a really cool synth very different from typical gear of this vintage.
Most Synths use subtractive synthesis or are samplers.
The K5M is a multi timbrel additive synth. This means that you make sounds by adding together sine wave harmonics or partials. Each harmonic has an envelope - right there you have an amazing combination... [see the Intro to Synthesis post for reference]

The stock sounds are quite good and also very different. Programming using the one big knob is not so easy BUT I am including the MM-16 which changes all that. The 16 sliders can operate the harmonics, envelopes, etc. so it is basically a front panel for it.

The MM-16 also can be used as a generic fader controller for midi mixing, software synths, and controls inside your favorite DAW.

A little known nifty cool thing about the MM-16 is that it has two hardware Midi outputs which can be switched to make all odd notes come out of one midi jack and all even notes come out of the other. Just think about that for a bit...

There is a yahoo users group for this, just search on yahoo groups for K5 or K5M

Other interesting features of the K5M - 16 different sounds can go on the 16 midi channels, you can select how many voices go to each channel, there are 4 hardware audio outputs, and a removable programmable card is included."
