AI003 Looping Envelope Generator DIY Synth Module

Published on Nov 13, 2016 AI Synthesis

"A product demo of the aisynthesis.com AI003 Looping Envelope Generator DIY Synthesizer Module"

"The AI003 Looping ADSR Envelope Generator DIY Kit is a looping ADSR Envelope Generator. It can be manually triggered via Momentary Push Button, Gated via the Gate Signal, Triggered or re-triggered by a Trigger input, or set into a loop mode via a toggle switch. An LED shows the status of the output.

This Looping ADSR Envelope Generator DIY Kit circuit was derived (with permission) from the great and simple circuit (only 2 ICs!) from Nicolas on the Electromusic.com forums. With some help from the great Dave Brown, the circuit was updated to provide additional voltage protection, more uniform looping and gate behavior, more precise LED monitoring, and some nice user experience updates.

In Gate or Trigger mode, the envelope can be used as a traditional ADSR envelope generator. In loop mode, the output sends a variable exponential waveshape between Ramp, Triangle, and Sawtooth LFO with control over the attack and decay of the LFO shape.

The modes are dependent on whether or not the gate jack is inserted, and for triggers, the Sustain level – see the chart below. We will be releasing a more traditional ADSR with 'normal' gating functions shortly (but with twice the part count and no AD loop)."

Electro-music 2013 will be held at the Greenkill Retreat Center in Huguenot, New York, September 6 - 8, 2013. Now in it's ninth year, we expect this to be the biggest and best electro-music event ever!

The scope of this festival is very broad, covering all aspects of electro-music: experimental electronic music, ambient, space music, circuit bending, computer music, electro-jazz, modular synthesis, musique concrete, improvisation, algorithmic composition, multi-media, visual art and much more. The focus will be on participant involvement, sharing, community development, audience education, and great music.

http://event.electro-music.com/

The deadline for application is May 31.

Everyone who attends the festival will need to purchase tickets, including performing artists and volunteers. We regret that we cannot provide compensation for artists, or pay for travel expenses. We strongly encourage full participation: plan to attend for all three days to support your fellow artists and to contribute to the sense of community. This makes the event more enjoyable for everyone. Highest priority for performance spots will go to artists who are fully involved. Ticket prices range from $40 for a single day to $333 for a three-day pass that includes meals and lodging."

AudioCubes Featured at Electro-Music Festival 2012 in New York

"The Electro-music festival 2012 has been confirmed, with acts from several electronic musicians from all over the US and Europe, such as Mark Mosher, Lux Seeker, Shivasongster, and many others.

The festival organized by electro-music.com takes place in Huguenot, New York at the Greenkill Retreat Center. Last year over 60 artists performed live at the festival, and this year's edition is expected to be even greater. The event will span 3 days in September (7-9), and alongside the musical performances, workshops, jam sessions, laptop battles will take place.

The Electro-Music festival is also called “the Woodstock of electronic music” by the Philadelphia Inquirer. It is an annual event festival organized by electro-music.com, a “cooperative community where artists and enthusiasts participate and benefit together” as they describe on electro-music.com.

One of the highlights of this event will be the live performances with Percussa AudioCubes. Electronic musicians Mark Mosher, Jeremy dePrisco aka Shivasongster, and John Morley aka Lux Seeker, will bring their AudioCubes to the festival to perform live with the cubes. In addition, Jeremy will demonstrate the AudioCubes during a workshop he's organizing about Reason 6.

More information about the performances and the schedule can be found here.

About AudioCubes and Percussa

AudioCubes by Percussa are smart light-emitting cubes that can detect each other's location and orientation in a network, as well as sense distances. The AudioCubes can be used for sound design, music composition, live performance, as well as many other uses, because of the several software applications Percussa created for the AudioCubes. Modifications:

Custom LED Colors: This Klee been modified with Bi-Color LEDs so Stage LEDs 9-6 are green when the sequencer is in 2X8 mode. Blue LEDs on Random and Bus 2 Status. Yellow LEDs on Rate and Bus 1 Status. Green LED on Bus 3 Status. Red LED on Main Bus Status.
Logical CV Output Routing: Stage 1-8 CV Output on Output A (stock assembly routes it to Output B). Stage 9-16 CV Output on Output B (stock assembly routes it to Output A).

For those that don't know, the Klee is the most feature packed, crazy, beautifully insane sequencer out there. Every option is implemented in this layout. Once you get one the Klee in your rack, you'll wonder how you managed without it. It can function like any other 16 step sequencer out there, or it can function like it has a brain of it's own. Easily programmed with your own ideas, or flip the Random Switch and find out what "it" has in mind. An endless source of inspiration.

This is one BIG build. Save yourself the time, hassle, and inevitable troubleshooting by purchasing this Klee fully and professionally assembled by Free State FX.

The Klee, pronounced Clay, is a shift register based sequencer. What makes the Klee different from most sequencers is that more than one Stage/Step can be active at any given time. Most sequencers have one active Stage, the CV for that Stage is programmed via the pot, and the CV is then sent to the CV Out. With the Klee, one or more stages can be active at one time, the CV programmed by the active Stages is added together, and is then sent to the CV Out. This function just

I could not possibly list all the functions of the Klee here. More inormation about how to use the Klee can be found here:

AudioCube Jam with 9 Box Casual Musical Instrument at Electro-Music 2011 Festival in NY

YouTube Uploaded by newechoproductions on Feb 22, 2012

There was an AudioCube jam at the 2011 Electro-Music Festival in NY (http://event.electro-music.com/), I brought 6 AudoiCubes (http://www.Percussa.com) and setup my casual musical instrument templates called the 9 Box. This same system is the basis for multiple music labs in schools.

The system fits in a backpack, is intended for 1-4 players. It only takes a few minutes to setup the system and about 1 minute to learn to play the 9 Box. "9 Box" refers to a 3x3 matrix of 9 clips - hence the "9 Box". Why 9 clips? After much research I've concluded that 9 is a perfect number of clips for mapping to a single AudioCube and a small enough number of clips that it's easy to keep track of the different musical or sound phrases.

Watch for annotations in video for more details.
