This year's MMTA PNW SYNTHFEST will be a "Synth Petting Zoo" held on Saturday September 27 from 1PM - 5PM at the EMP's Level 3 as part of the Decibel Festival in Seattle, Washington. Note the dB Festival itself runs September 24 - 28.  Be sure to see their site for a full list of performances, presentations and workshops.  This year's conference will include Madrona Labs, Livid Instruments, Roland and Ableton amongst others.

The "Synth Petting Zoo" will be a synth meet and greet, open to the public, and open to all ages. You do not have to bring gear to attend, but if you'd like to bring your gear and share what you have with others, please sign up at the MMTA forum here.  If you have trouble signing up feel free to email me at matrixsynth@gmail.com and I will make sure you are covered.  If you do sign up be sure to bring everything you might need including power supplies, cables, and speakers. We expect some noise!!!

If you are in the area on Saturday the 27th, be sure to drop by.  These events are not only a great way to check out gear that you might not normally have access to, but also a great place to meet and hang out with like-minded individuals.   For pics and videos from previous events see the MMTA channel here (scroll down to get to older posts).

MMTA FALL SYNTHFEST Coming to Seattle on October 26!

Update: It was an awesome event as always! You'll find pics and videos of the event as they go up on the MMTA SYNTHFEST 2013 channel.  Some are already up and mine are yet to follow.  New posts of course will go up on the front page.  You can get to the channel via the link at the bottom of each post.  Note there was an earlier event this year so this post will mark the bottom of the last event.  Posts beneath that are from the prior event.

Heads up everyone! The MMTA SYNTHFEST is currently scheduled at Shoreline Community College in the Music Building (800) Saturday, October 26.  The event is Free!  Full details will follow in future posts. Until then mark your calendar and make arrangements as needed. This is not an event you will want to miss!

This year's previous Spring SYNTHFEST included the Synth Petting Zoo for people to check out and play with gear, a Tradeshow Room with local vendors & manufactures, a Presentation Room with lectures & performances, and a Jam Session room.  Last year we had a rare look into the history of Yamaha from Dave Bristow.  Mark Vail, author of Vintage Synthesizers, along with John Bowen and the Solaris, were also in attendance. For a full list of manufactures from that event, see this post.

In the Mattson Dungeon with the Monster Mattson EML System

Doug Lynner, Stephen Golovnin & George Mattson in the sonic dungeon of Mattson Mini Modular studios.

The massive system they are playing is the mighty Mattson EML modular. It consists of vintage EML components and new designs from George Mattson. You can find a ton of pics and info on the Mattson EML channel label here.

George Mattson of course is the man behind Mattson Mini Modular as well as being responsible for the "M" in the Synthrotek MST line.

Doug Lynner is a Serge maestro and has been featured here on MATRIXSYNTH numerous times with his Mystery Serge.

Stephen Golovnin aka Vsyevolod used to work at Serge back in the early days when they were based out of Los Angeles (above the wig shop here). He performs live with his massive eight panel Serge system and has been present at a number of synth meets.
