John Bowen Solaris Demos by boxoftextures
Solaris general demo Published on May 13, 2012 boxoftextures
Don't miss the Rotor demo below. It's one of the unique features of the Solaris.
"A brief exploration of some of the capabilities of the John Bowen Solaris synthesizer, showing the flexibility and depth of what you can do with it. This isn't a full blown tutorial but more of a taste of how you can program the synth.

Solaris rotor demo
Published on May 13, 2012 boxoftextures
"A demonstration of the basics of the rotors in the John Bowen Solaris synthesizer. The rotors are a somewhat unique module. They're not a sound generator on their own, but instead they let you mix and modulate several different inputs, be they sound sources or some other sort of signal. Using the rotors you can make either subtly motion-filled patches or you can go wild and make some crazy sounds.

Buchla 291e VCA AM FM mod mix
Published on Dec 30, 2014 JurekPrzezdziecki
"Just another experiment with this amazing module. 291e triple morphing filter used as feedback oscillator. Modulation inputs A/B/C feeded with audio for AM and FM modulation. Audio output from 261e sent to 258v and have been mixed together. So 258v works as a 'hub' to mix audio waveforms. Filter snapshots previously created and i have changed them manually. Changing frequency of 261e and 258v creates interesting polyrhythm patterns. Powerful module."

Single VCO split to create dub chords (modular trick)
Published on Dec 30, 2014 alternatingbitmusic
"Thanks to the enginerring genius of Stereotactixxx I was able to follow his lead on the concept of using a single VCO to create a chord via pulse split / gate sourcing. In short:
Take one VCO, tune it high and set the pulse width no wider than 50%. Split the pulse out with a multiple, and send two instances of that pulse to the clock inputs of two rows of sympleSEQs. Set one sympleSEQ to 5 steps and the other to 6 steps. Mix the gate outs of the sympleSEQs using a mixer, and there is your chord. Flip the gates on and off on the sequencers until you get a sound you like. Some has to be off, otherwise you will will only end up with the fifth in the chord, which is the original clock signal. Now that you have your chord, just send it through a VCF and a VCA and modulate them the way you would do with any sound. (his words)"

Sequential Circuits Six-Trak

"This is a mint condition Sequential Circuits Six-Trak. It is an excellent sounding and very durable analog polyphonic synthesizer produced in the U.S. during the early to mid 80s. This particular unit has a later OS 9 ROM which means it was one of the later ones to be produced and also means that the unit has modern standard MIDI functionality.
There aren't any scratches on the unit. There is just a small scuff on the left corner wood side which really can't be seen. Otherwise, the synth is immaculate. I have personally cleaned the insides from dust and particles and have deoxidized the output. This synth is a real gem.
As for what matters, the sound, this thing is a beast. It has a very unique analog VCO tone found only in Sequential Circuits synths from this era. This synth has been compared to the Juno 60/106 and sounds beautiful on its own, but truly comes to life when you add a little chorus, reverb, or delay. I have owned one of these for a few years now and I'm always blown away by how I can get this synth to sound so organic and life-like."

SONICA BY FRANK EVENTOFF #311
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
"This is the unusual and strange instrument, the SONICA. Invented by Frank Eventoff, supposedly only 650 were made. (I interviewed him oncMcDonald's cash registers, etc. all over the world. The instrument is made from a circuit built by SERGE Modular synthesizers (see photo of circuit board) and has a warm, mellow tone. You slide your finger along the diatonic-tuned soundboard. More importantly, there are 3 control pads: Slider wobbles the pitch a little (vibrato), Tone adjusts brightness, Half-Step gives you half-step notes (as diatonic scale misses some in-between, you can get them here). The tone control doesn't do much, maybe it's waveform adjust or something, but the sound is already dark and low, like a flute, so there's not many highs to affect. It's easy and fun to play, comes with original case.
'You are bidding on an extremely rare Sonica synthesizer built by Frank Eventoff in 1979. Only 650 of these were ever made. Very few are now known to exist. The body is carved of mahogany, and has a plaque with the number 311 comes with the original custom-sized case.'"

Whether you want to stay competitive or get competitive, the Korg Electribe is a magnificent tool for improving the sonic quality and the dynamic tension of your shows. The other chief improvement in the current Electribe relative to the many versions that have been rolled out since its introduction in 2003 is its ease of use. It is fast for the beginner to get used to and fast for the experienced Electribe user to master the new functions. The electribe perfectly fulfills two tasks that both demand speed: live performance and music production.
