Roland TR-626 vs. TR-707 | Which one should you get?

"Two classic drum machines from Roland. They both have their pros and cons.

The 626 can be upgraded with new EPROM chips to have different samples, but I'd still want the original ones present as these are very usable in themselves too.

The 626 has lots of percussion sounds and 30 drum sounds in total. The 707 has 15 sounds in total and virtually no percussion sounds.

Both have individual outs, but the 707 has the mixer on top for quick mixing of the sounds on the fly. The 626 has the ability to tune the drums +/- 7 steps, the 707 does not.

The 707 has the grid/matrix LCD for easy pattern programming, the 626 has less visual clues to give when it come to the more tiny LCD where you can only see one drum sound at a time.

Personally I feel the 707 has a more 'produced and ready' sounding kick and snare, but the 626 can easily be EQ'ed and compressed to sound thick and punchy. You might feel differently. ;-)

Elinch: just playing around with new looper | expert sleepers disting ex | eurorack modular synthesizer

"'here are a few moments with the super new looper algorithm from disting ex. andrew (os) has programmed many great features in the looper, such as clocking, vcas for each track, attack and release envelopes, filter, 8bit mode etc. at the beginning you hear the right disting with 4 previously recorded 8bit stereo loops, then the left with 4 16bit mono loops. all sounds come from the sample library of the two disting ex (except for the drums: tokyo tape music center oscillator / and the women voice from my iPad). I also rediscovered clouds, in between it comes from it somewhat granular. enjoy listening!'

"Here’s the *PROTOTYPE* Deckard’s Voice module from Black Corporation. It’s a monophonic analogue Eurorack synth voice based on the Deckard’s Dream polyphonic since - which in itself is a replicant with a serious nod to the classic Yamaha CS-80. Synthesizer demo of the digital "performing synthesizer" Korg 707 from 1987.

I used an original Korg SDD-3000 for delay effects and a Lexicon MPX-500 for reverb effects. In the intro music, the Korg 707 was played along with a Dynacord EC 280 analog delay. All the sounds were programmed by me.

The Korg 707 is a digital synthesizer based on FM (frequency modulation) synthesis. It has a "performance editor" containing parameter sliders which allow sound tweaks in realtime. MIDI multimode. Fat unisono mode, layer and split capabilities. It can be used as a remote keyboard and it can run on batteries. it's capable of some excellent digital sounds!"
