"SOLAR 50 consists of 10 voices, each voice has its own volume. All voices are divided into groups of 5 units for the right side and for the left side and mixed by the MAIN MIXER where the Knob 01-05 sets the volume of 5 left voices and the knob 06-10 sets the volume of 5 right voices. Also, there are external audio input and volume PIEZZO knobs on the MAIN MIXER. All audio signals go to a 12 dB analog filter from POLYVOX synthesizer, which is controlled by voltage. From the filter, audio signals enter the effector (with cartridges) which is controlled by CV as well - the same circuit is used in ELTA music CONSOLE pedal. Here, the BLEND knob sets the effect level. The VOLUME knob sets the overall volume WET OUT. To process a pure voice signal by external effects, there are DRY OUT L and DRY OUT R which are clean outputs for both groups of voices. When being used, these outputs are dropped out from the general mixer and no longer go to the filter and to the effector. Then you can return one of the processed channels to EXT AUDIO input so you can create stereo sounds. In this case the contact microphone inside the keyboard always goes to the filter and to the effector by default. It also controls the ENVELOPE follower / Gate detector, or you can choose to connect an external microphone, electro-musical instrument or guitar."
Every instrument that we take for granted was once born of a desire to create a sound and interact with the sonic universe in a new way. The Elta Music Solar 50 is an excellent example of a new perspective on familiar ideas, and today we're going to explore it with our pal Brian!
"This is a rare synthesizer from Russia, newly created by Elta Music. It's designed to create huge ambient textures with 50! oscillators. This listing includes a complete set of the hard-to-find fx cartridges, which are worth several hundred dollars on their own."
"Gives the ability to run anything through the legendary Soviet Polivoks Filter and LFO.
The Polivoks Filter-2, from Elta Music, utilizes the classic Soviet filter chip for a unique filter tone. This model includes original modula- tor (LFO) block from Polivoks Synth. There is a new controller called Wob Fader. It controls Filter Cutoff Freq using CV. Wob Fader has it’s max values on the sides, and minimum CV is at the centre. It can mimics scratching effects. Thanks to four available Filter modes (LP/BP/HP/Notch) device can dramatically change your source signal. Made in Russia"
"I've recently fallen into the pedals craze and yeah, I couldn't resist both the design and the vintage crunchiness of the OTO line, so when I got a good deal on the pair I went for it! Both are amazing, even though you have to dive a little deeper in order to get exactly the sound and feel you're looking for. BAM was a refreshing acquisition after years of BigSky. Natural sounding reverbs with a touch of dirt (comparison with the CXM1978 coming soon 🔥). BIM is simply the perfect delay for me. Can go from a very simple, nice-sounding delay, to a filthy lo-fi stereo grungy mess, and the modulation came really handy with the Solar50 (that's what I am fiddling with during the jam). Solar50 was the perfect companion for these pedals, since its raw sound (not passing even through the filter, since I was using the dry stereo output). BIM provided dimension and modulation, while BAM gave the space and that little smudging effect needed for cutting some of the harshnesses. All in all a GREAT combo! Can't wait to get my hands on an OTO BOUM, even though I am undecided between that and the Elektron Heat mk2. We'll see! Enjoy ✨"
"Rarish synth with 50 oscillators of pure fun. Under one year old.
Almost like new and everything in the image is included, also including full set of 12 FX cards.
One minor flaw is that one of the leds doesn't work, but the related oscillator works fine."
"It's finally here! I wanted it since its announcement, especially given how much I love my SOMA Lyra-8 (as you could probably tell, looking at my past videos).
Solar50 is larger, lighter, thinner, has 6 times the osc, and even built-in fx!
Oh, and it is also yellow, if it wasn't cool enough with its light sensor made to look like HAL9000.
Anyway, it's here, and I definitely should make a comparison video, because almost anything of the Solar50 resembles the Lyra-8, apart from the touch surfaces (still, a different kind of ones).
This yellow beast is more resembling, to me, to an orgy of Sequential OB-6, with its brassiness and the 12dB Polivoks filter.
This was a first encounter, much more to come: I still have to receive all the other cartridges, I need to try it in stereo with some pedals, and a comparison with the Lyra-8 is almost mandatory!
Anyway, enjoy! ✨"

"Another unusual instrument from our friends in the East comes in the form of the Elta Music Solar-50 - Big Ambient Machine.
This is a FIFTY OSCILLATOR - yes (50!) instrument with 10 voice groups each with 5 oscillators (sawtooth) per voice."
---
If you look at each block you will see five knobs. There are 10 blocks, so 50 oscillators. Top center left is the filter, top center right is effects. Below that is a row of mixer knobs.
"Another in our occasional series where we put various items of gear together and just jam. This time we have the Elta Music Solar 50 Big Ambient Machine, the Strymon Nightsky and the Arturia DrumBrute Impact.
We hope it helps you digest the last scraps of turkey after Thanksgiving if you are in the US and encourages you to jam this weekend.
"Testing the Polivoks Mini. The filter sounds authentic to my ears from the limited time I had with an original. I do think it misses the 2nd oscillator though, the sub helps but it misses the extra weight from a detuned 2nd oscillator in my opinion."
"After chatting a bit ELTA music for the past couple of years about their solar 50 its finally a reality! get your #DRONE #synthesizer on. Isolated SOLAR 50 recordings/Stems :- "
"A DAWless jam with Roland System-500, Space Echo, ASM Hydrasynth, Novation Bass Station 2, Elta Music Polivoks Mini, Mode Machines ADX1, Korg MonoPoly, SQ-1 & Arturia Beatstep Pro. Recorded to Ableton Live 10."
"the elta music pm-02 is a eurorack version of the recent polyvox-m desktop unit. it is a simplified version of the original polyvoks synthesizer; possessing similar oscillator and filter circuitry.
this synth is my first in-person exposure to the polyvoks family. it certainly lives up to its reputation. the oscillators are raw and dirty (though cleaner when patched out to other modules). the filter is dirty and has the most violent resonance i've ever heard. the envelope is nice and snappy. the unit is gorgeous and built like a tank. it has enough jacks to easily incorporate other modules.
while i enjoyed using the pm-02 i found the filter lacking in musicality. it's generally rough and dirty (not a bad thing); and adding resonance just makes it louder and dirtier. i was pleased by the saw and square oscillators. the square can sound nice and woody. to me the triangle oscillator sounds more like a muted saw than a triangle. i struggled to create bell-like tones for example.
due to the general character of the filter i've decided to look at other options; but if you like the tone of this synth it's an excellent choice. it's well built and excels at hard, sharp, dirty, nasty sounds.
