"Elefe is an electronic recorder that anyone can easily enjoy playing. saxophone including recorder Equipped with 10 different tones such as , and clarinet, you can play with the same fingering as a soprano recorder.

Since the main unit has a built-in battery and speaker, it can be used without a cable, and a headphone terminal is also available.

It is also ideal for night practice because it is also equipped. It also has a wireless MIDI function via Bluetooth.

It is also possible to control an external sound source from the Elefe by connecting it to a BLE-MIDI compatible device."

Nyle Steiner plays & talks, P-2 Demo of many Time Travel New Wind Sounds - Mark Steiner

video upload by Mark Steiner

"For the Holiday season I'm offering my Time Travel Collection (license to all my sound collections future and past). And this will include the new Nyle Steiner Historical Sound Collection. Sounds he sampled himself and used in Hollywood movie sessions and more.

The first 10 orders will also get a sound named after them. Cool or silly but fun for sure!

Cost during the holidays starting now is $250.

I'll very soon have a full list up. But it includes 100 or more sounds for EVI-NER, Lyricon 1 and 2, Arturia SEM V plugin, Moog Model D for iPad, and more...

Also around 30 to 50 sounds for Anyma Phi, Moog Sirin, Arturia MatrixBrute and Respiro (both for plugin and iPad/iPhone app)... A few of my Respiro sounds will also be free to anyone. I may do up to 100 of those but at least 50.

I am also preparing and will ongoing make new sample sounds for Logic and MainStage ($30 application for Mac). These include per-note sample instrument made from analog synths, rare and exotic modules/modular synths, tube synthesis, samples from vintage EVI and EWI modules and all kinds of things.

I would note, the Anyma Phi just had an update and added more oscillator types including multi-dimensionally morphing wave table oscillators that are frosty and glassy and sound unreal. This is one of the most amazing and diverse sounding instruments and made for wind synths. I'm dying over the sounds I continue to discover within. So 100% something to get if you have a chance. Analog in it sounds soooooo good, and then so much unreal digital and physical modeling... all mixable to 3 independently expressive layers. It's a technology creature of wonder. ---fully unpaid testimonial/bought my own unit :)

Anyone who has already bought any of my sounds can upgrade to this bundle during the holidays for $150.

More info coming soon. More videos of new sounds including the Nyle samples (including his Rapping from the EVI Concerto, his own trumpet playing sample instrument, and his own exotic flute sound he carved.)

Most of these are all ready now, the rest will electronically ship by Thanksgiving.

A few parts of this seem a bit odd. At times I like to keep unexpected things from sessions in the videos as they are unusual, interesting, funny, or whatever. This one had a few things rarely caught organically... some gibberish Tourette's that I don't understand a few times (from my brain injury I'm still climbing back from). I thought I'd never share that but it felt right tonight. So it's just a little something that is organic and personal. I was also just pretty out of it in some ways from being up so late, I'm usually this... um... gone lol. Anyway, an interesting little journal entry in a way.

Thank you so much, sincerely,

Mark"

Lyricon I Wind Synthesizer w/ Manual & Schematic

via this auction

"Lyricon I (serial number 7 7 2 3 3). [looks like 78233 to me]

It is a glorious piece of craftsmanship, heavy body, mother of pearl touches, it feels very nice in your hands on stage and plays perfect. I found it much more inspiring and expressive than modern Midi based devices. It is meant by its inventor as a "stand-alone-device", it has no CV output and of course no MIDI, it is really an autonomous instrument similar to the Theremin etc. It comes with a cable for US power but I can include a transformer for 200Volts that I used. In this restored condition it will be playable for many years and the additional blueprints can help to restore it if needed. I have played MIDI wind controllers over the years but never got into the feeling and expressive possibilities - this one really stands out."

Moog Sirin - Midi Wind Sounds - Mark Steiner

video upload by Mark Steiner

"Helpful stuff about using these Moog Sirin Sounds

These sounds will work with CV or Midi breath now… very smoothly even with Midi. Sirin Manual: https://api.moogmusic.com/sites/defau...

To load these patches into the Moog Sirin, you will need the Sirin Editor Librarian. This link shows you how to get it:

https://moogmusicsupport.zendesk.com/...

The Sirin has a Drone (Hold) mode on it that makes most of these sounds the smoothest. But the sounds with “PurC” in the name are meant to be played when not in the Drone (Hold) mode, as they have a cool attack envelope that still varies in attack with different breath dynamics.

It’s also good to know how to change presets and save sounds from the front panel. Especially as these patches are so easy and fun to alter from the knobs there, and can be great to save as a new patch."

SWITCHED ON - BOB MOOG AND THE SYNTHESIZER REVOLUTION - Forward by Francis Ford Coppola

Francis Ford Coppola is into synths? Both the Moog Modular and Steiner EVI were used in the soundtrack for Apocalypse Now. See here for a couple of mentioning the story.

As for the book, detail via The Bob Moogfoundation, where you can pre-order it, follow:

SWITCHED ON - BOB MOOG AND THE SYNTHESIZER REVOLUTION PRE-ORDER

BY ALBERT GLINSKY

PUBLISHED BY OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS

FOREWORD BY FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA

The Moog synthesizer "bent the course of music forever" Rolling Stone declared.

Bob Moog, the man who did that bending, was a lovable geek with Einstein hair and pocket protectors. He walked into history in 1964 when his homemade contraption unexpectedly became a sensation---suddenly everyone wanted a Moog. The Beatles, The Doors, The Byrds, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Yes, Stevie Wonder, and many more discovered his synthesizer, and it came to be featured in seminal film scores including A Clockwork Orange and Apocalypse Now . The Moog's game-changing sounds saturated 60's counterculture and burst into the disco party scene in the 70's to set off the electronic dance music movement. Bob had single-handedly founded the synth industry and become a star in the process.

Wind Synthesizer R1 Concept Video | Robkoo

And the press release:

Robkoo’s revolutionary Wind Synthesizer R1 rocked as Commercial Hardware category finalist in the MIDI Association’s 2022 MIDI Innovation Awards Show

SHANGHAI, CHINA: fresh from making musical waves at The 2022 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, USA, at the invitation of the MIDI Association, a non-profit community for both the companies who develop new MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) specifications and products and the people that create music and art with MIDI, digital art-facilitating software and hardware company Robkoo is proud to announce that its revolutionary Wind Synthesizer R1 — realised as a futuristic, cyber-like MIDI wind controller instrument with responsive RGB light bars, motion control, Bluetooth connectivity, customisable hotkeys, onboard sound banks, and a dedicated app allowing amateur and professional players alike to directly (and literally) light up their performances to audiences for the first time in history, having mastered its intuitive panel design in a matter of minutes and achieved gig-readiness within weeks of first musically making its acquaintance — rocked as a Commercial Hardware category finalist in the MIDI Association’s 2022 MIDI Innovation Awards Show, itself co-founded by music technologies learning platform Music Hackspace and the non-profit NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), where it was displayed as taking third place…

It is true to say that the most distinguishing design feature of the Wind Synthesizer R1 is how much of its slimline body actually lights up. Ultimately, an extra dimension of musical expression responds to the player’s breath, glowing to the tune of over 60,000 colours — customisable in JamKoo, Robkoo’s popular performance app for iOS and Android that automatically detects (via Bluetooth) when a Wind Synthesizer R1 is nearby and awake to provide access to all settings on a larger screen, as well as a dummy-proof guide to learning — courtesy of two lengthy, patent-protected RGB light bars with which the futuristic, cyber-like MIDI wind controller instrument is equipped. It is also the only such instrument that can be played both vertically and horizontally, whether working with the (removable/replaceable) food-grade mouthpiece manufactured from the same material as a baby pacifier for utmost health protection or the new horizontal mouthpiece, making for a cyber-flute-like performance action.

Its inbuilt gyroscope lets Wind Synthesizer R1 players spice up their performance with pitch bend and vibrato by simply moving the MIDI wind controller instrument itself. Indeed, performing with it is simply a case of playing the seven touch-sensing performance keys (positioned on its topside) — themselves exhibiting minimal noise and maximum durability — that resemble an acoustic instrument to permit playing expressively in a realistic and graceful way while switching tones in an instant, ably assisted by an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen that even helps with navigating in the dark. Delve instantly into wider octaves beyond the limitations of acoustic instruments thanks to the triple-octave (-1, 0, +1, +2) keys (on the underside of Wind Synthesizer R1), while a reliable and intuitive mechanical pitch wheel lets performers pitch freely with their thumb — also customisable to trigger other controls like portamento.

Put it this way: with onboard tones sampled from top performers from around the world — working with sound suppliers like Dynamix Audio (Serbia), Impact Soundworks (USA), Kong Audio (China), Sound Magic (China), and Versilian Studios (USA), Wind Synthesizer R1 could conceivably shave off 10 or even 20 years of practice when it comes to achieving a professional-sounding performance!

Whether wirelessly or cable connected to an applicable device, by also allowing for portamento and program change alongside breath control — as implied by name, Wind Synthesizer R1 is also a capable MIDI controller that sends so much more than just note information. Interestingly, it also supports MIDI input over USB MIDI (Type-C) and Bluetooth (BLE MIDI) — not bad going for a lightweight (450g) device with 67 cm (length), 4 cm (width), and 5 cm (height) measurements making for comfortable handling. However, its slimline design belies its impressive specification, also accommodating a 3.5 mm TRS headphone output, 6.35 mm TRS audio output, and Type-C USB port. But better still, Wind Synthesizer R1 boasts a (2600mAh) battery-running time of six hours (with the RGB light bars operating), extending to 10 hours (with the RGB light bars turned off).

On the face of it, Wind Synthesizer R1 represents a highly-capable package, one which helpfully comes complete with a dust bag, neck strap, mouthpiece cap, Type-C USB cable, quickstart guide, and user manual... little wonder, then, that Wind Synthesizer R1 rocked as a Commercial Hardware category finalist in the MIDI Association’s 2022 MIDI Innovation Awards Show — something Robkoo Business Developer Tianbang Zhuang far from takes lightly, as evidenced in his well-chosen words when speaking there: “It would be unfair to say that R1 is just a wind synth with lights, or just a wind synth with motion control, or just a wind synth with a horizontal mouthpiece option. They are eye-catching, for sure, but R1 has much more layers. When we started this project, we were here to solve the problems in instrument learning. We did not add lights just because we thought it was cool, or stack those features because we thought they were cool. We added features because they can be helpful to our goal. That’s why those features can be put together as an organic whole. Think about the experience we designed for the customer: you receive it at Christmas; you say, ‘Wow! It’s cool!’; you follow the user guide and learn about it with our [JamKoo] app; and in 15 minutes you suddenly know how to play a new instrument. After two weeks you went from being someone who knows nothing about musical instruments to a confident performer — with lights and style. We are changing peoples lives with something that has so many fancy features, but doesn’t feel overwhelming at all since it still appears to be a simple and intuitive instrument.”

While Wind Synthesizer R1 is already available to buy as a commercial product in mainland China for CN¥2,999.00 RMB, Robkoo is currently working with a number of KOL (Key Opinion Leaders)/KOC (Key Opinion Consumers) on overseas firmware and other adjustments (including sound banks) with a view to making it available worldwide with a projected price tag of around $500.00 USD later this year when it is likely to become available to buy from Robkoo’s website (http://www.robkoo.com/en/) and also some selected retailers.

"Powers up but needs some TLC and essential parts like the wind controller and power cable. See photo for plug type.

Tested with a borrowed power cable and a Moog prodigy. Some voltages affected the oscillator pitch. I can't comment on the full functionality as there's no wind controller to complete the unit.

Outer case has a crack in one corner.

Item comes as seen. See photos.

No power cable or wind controller is included. Just the synthesizer driver portion as pictured."

Prologue 16 Pianoish - Bellish - Heavy Key Sounds using built-in Analog Compression & Drive

video upload by Mark Steiner

"Well worth hearing in good headphones alert!

Exploring heavy weighted approached keyboard sounds I created for the Korg Prologue 16.

This synth has some great, unique strengths that are nice for this direction of sound.

These sounds use only the 2 analog VCO's and often only one of them. The only effects used are the standard ones that come with the instrument.

I love the digital engine, but here I'm exploring some things that can be done fully with the analog VCO's.

Velocity sensitivity driving volume more than filter and taking advantage at subtle levels the Drive (analog distortion) and the analog compressor on this synth.

Many of the built in effects are amazing on this synth... cinematic mastering quality. Rare in even the most expensive synths.

Having dialed in drive, compression and effects saved in a patch at subtle sweet spots is so valuable!

16 note polyphony makes it great for this too. And the high pass filter switch can push things the groovy clav direction.

Some of these also explore some bell/clangal tone types heard where a secondary VCO has a changing, non-static pitch in many variations of speed, range, and lowness/height of start point.

All sounds & effects are directly from the Prologue.

The Monologue XD's and the Prologue 8 can do this stuff quite well but the compression of the 16 really is worth having and is just great! It provides some really special tonal/response across the velocity range. So great to jam with and to be emotionally expressive with in slower passages.

The NuEVI wind synth here is also playing sounds in the Prologue. They are very different than what I usually play as they also are tone colored by a little drive and analog compression... giving them some of that speaker cabinet smudged tone these also can give the key sounds here.

Thanks for listening!"

The Behringer 2600 On The Hans Zimmer Live Tour - With Pedro Eustache

video upload by Behringer

Looks like two TiNRS Fenix systems in the background.

"Dan recently headed to London's O2 Arena to interview Wind Synthesist and Composer Pedro Eustache, currently on tour with the legendary composer, Hans Zimmer.

Pedro takes us through the Behringer products (2600, BD440, UMC1820) he uses in his setup and how they all play a massive part in not only the Hans Zimmer Live concerts but also in many scores, including the Oscar-winning score for 'DUNE'.

As a Wind Synthesist, Pedro shows how expressive and versatile the 2600 can be when controlled via his Lyricon wind controller.

Later in the interview, we also meet Juan Garcia-Herreros (The Snow Owl) who in 2019, won Best Bass Player in the World. Juan also discusses how Behringer products continue to play a big part in his professional musical career.

To discover more about Pedro and Juan, be sure to check out their websites at:

Rare STING Midi Wind Synthesizer Controller, The Missing Link

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Note this appears to be the first post to feature the STING Midi Wind Synthesizer. "Hi, this is Peter Ponzol. Most of you know me as a mouthpiece maker and saxophone designer. I was also a consultant and clinician for Lyricon, the first wind synthesizer. I demonstrated Lyricon at the Frankfurt Music Fair in 1979, 1980 and 1981. In 1985 I was contacted by a Japanese company called Sting. They had made a Lyricon type instrument that was Midi, something Lyricon was not. This allowed you to control any Midi device from the Sting unit. I did some consulting for the company and introduced it at the Frankfurt Music Fair in 1987. The company was small and Sting never became well known. If you know Lyricon, you know Sting. Keys and fingering possibilities are similar. There are some interesting innovations in Sting. For example there is no reed or typical woodwind type of mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is more like that of a recorder and thus much easier for none woodwind players to play. All information is transmitted over Midi except velocity, which is sent analog. I have two control bodies and the so called brain unit, as pictured. I packed these up around 1990 and they have been packed up in storage ever since. I have the original Operation Manual. The electronics brain is 220 volt and will need a voltage converter to 110. I just checked them with a midi unit I have and everything works. The only issue is the RCA jack on one body is loose. I am not an electrician and don't want to try and repair it. I'm sure its a simple thing for someone to fix. The jack works but is loose. These are real collector pieces of equipment. I have never ever seen another one for sale and I'm sure they are really rare. As they are 35 years old the sale will be as is. At the moment everything works as it did when I put them away. Its hard to determine the value as they are so rare. I have seen Lyricons going for $3,000, but I will start the bidding at $995.00. I will only ship to an address in the continental USA. Please do not bid unless you have a US address. I will sell internationally if you have linked your account to Ebay's international shipping service. Please see Ebay for more information. I will list this for one more week. If a buyer is not out there I'll pack it away again for a few years, then it might be worth much more."

Computone Lyricon Wind Synthesizer-Driver w/ Extras

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Computone Wind Synthesizer-Driver, also known as a Lyricon. Made in the 70's in Norwell, Massachusetts. This unit is in great cosmetic condition as you can see. It turns on, and all the lights light up. I have no way of fully testing it, as it outputs control voltage and you must have a device that receives that (analog synthesizer, synth module, etc.). But it appears to be functional. The innards look super clean as well, with no leakage from any of the components.

It has many knobs and sliders for tailoring the sound before it reaches it's destination and is said to be one of the most expressive wind controllers ever made. There is a useful website dedicated to the Lyricon family of instruments, www.lyricon.com including info on how to contact David O'Brien, who has all the original schematics and parts to maintain these instruments.

It was owned by Hubert Waldner, an Austrian jazz and pop musician."
