"The ARP 2500 was made famous for sounds it created with its 1047 Voltage Controlled Filter. You can now add that rich, incredible sound to your MU modular synthesizer with the M401 Multimode Filter Resonator from Lower West Side Studio.

The M401 Multimode Filter Resonator is the Lower West Side Studio adaptation of the ARP 1047 filter. The 1047 filter is what gave the ARP 2500 its legendary sound. The M401 Multimode Filter Resonator features;

Simultaneous filter outputs including LowPass, Highpass, Bandpass and a Variable Frequency output The Bandpass output has a gentle 6 decibels/octave slope on either side of its voltage-controllable “corner” frequency, making it ideal for replicating acoustic resonators. At the other extreme, it can be set to a very high “Q” or feedback, allowing only a very narrow band of frequencies to get through.

The M401 can act as a percussion module with a dedicated input for a gate or trigger signals to “ring” its filter with adjustable decay.

The M401 also offers features not available on the original ARP VCF including adaptive AGC input that reacts to input amplitude and settings and adaptive TRIG input that guarantees a full trigger pulse at all frequency settings"

New Lower West Side Studio M140 Clock Divider / Universal Logic Block

video by Lower West Side Studio

"This demonstration compares the pulse output of the M140 Clock Divider / Universal Logic Block module to the CGS36 Pulse Divider / Boolean Logic module"

via Lower West Side Studio

"The M140 offers multiple features in a single 2MU module.

The Clock Divider creates output pulses based upon divisions of incoming clock signal. Divisions of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 16 are all available for simultaneous output. In addition to these divisions NOT outputs are included providing pulse output where divisions are NOT 2, 4 and 8.

The clock can be reset either through a control voltage input or through a manual pushbutton. The pushbutton will hold the the Clock Divider in a reset state and output HIGH on all outputs for the duration of the press.

The logic section provides two blocks of 6 simultaneous logic outputs from 2 inputs

INVERTER: Apply Low Gate = High (Gate ON) output and vice versa

OR: HIGH when one or both inputs are HIGH

AND: HIGH when both inputs are HIGH

XOR (Exclusive OR): HIGH when only one input is HIGH

New Lower West Side Studio CGS85 Serge Triple Wave Shaper

Product Demonstrationvideo by Lower West Side Studio

"Lower West Side Studio demonstrates the Cat Girl Synthesizers CGS85 Serge Triple Wave Shaper.

3 independent wave shapers can be used individually or combined to mutate incoming signals into something wonderful

For more information visit lowerwestsidestudio.com"

via Lower West Side Studio

"This module is Ken Stone’s variation on the 1973 Classic Serge Triple Wave Shaper module.

To quote the 1982 catalog: The Triple Wave Shaper (TWS) is a non-linear modifier which can transform a sawtooth wave into a sine wave. This module incorporates three independent wave shapers for modifying synthesizer waveforms or for processing signals from preamplified instruments. Although originally designed as a wave shaper for our early oscillators, this module has been found to be a excellent modifier of electronic and acoustic sounds, and is highly recommended for subtle timbrel modifications beyond the range of simple oscillator/filter patches.

Each of the 3 channels supports a signal input with an attenuator. There are 2 control voltage inputs and both AC and DC outputs.

A Join switch connects the outputs of channels 2 and 3 back into channel 1 for some bizarre wave shaping potential. Each individual output is still simultaneously available.

The CGS85 Serge Triple Wave Shaper comes in a 1U width.

The module operates at +/- 15V and comes with a MOTM style power connector. Included is an MOTM to Synthesizers.com power connector adapter."

New Lower West Side Studio TLN-442 VCF

"Lower West Side Studio demonstrates the TLN-442 Voltage Controlled Filter by The Tellun Corporation

The TLN-442 is a 4-Pole Low Pass filter offering sounds from the mild to the wild. Check out some of the features or click the link below to learn more..."

via Lower West Side Studio

"The TLN-442 is a four pole low pass filter built around a Curtis Electromusic Specialties CEM 3320 chip. A built in mixer allows for three audio inputs. The filter frequency can be set using a panel mounted pot, a “one volt per octave” external control voltage, or via two external FM inputs with attenuators (one reversing). Filter resonance can be set using a panel mounted pot or an external control voltage with a reversing attenuator.

A four pole low pass filter built with a CEM 3320 was used in the Sequential Circuits Prophet Five (rev. 3) and Pro One synthesizers."

5U - FM Drone

video by Precarious333 Music

"Testing out some modules (outside the case). Patch is an ElectroSmith VCO with linear FM from Q106A sine which is sequenced by a SympleSEQ. Saw out from ElectroSmith to Barton BMC034 Switched Resistor VCF (built by Lower West Side Studio) running 2 low pass filters in series. Barton BMC034 is modulated by Encore Universal Event Generator running through the inverter on Q155 with inversion modulated by an audio frequency signal from SSL 1710 5-PULSER which is processing the same Q106A FM-ing the ElectroSmith VCO, introducing a pitch heard as the accented notes. The inverter output is then fed to the Curver section of Q155 modulated by a second Encore UEG. Simple, right? Ha-ha!

Q155 Curver is a really great module. Works great to add uniqueness to modulation signals and audio alike. I'm sure I'll find a place for it in every patch.

A minute into the video I introduce an inverted copy of the sequence controlling Q106A into the Clock input on the Barton BMC034. This is an experimental input on a very strange filter producing unexpected results. In this instance we get a sweet spot that produces truncated versions of the sequence because the filter freaks out creating dead zones. I like that kind of thing. \ (•◡•) /

Things fall into chaos when I exponentially FM the ElectroSmith VCO by another VCO running a different sequence which degenerates into the noise at the end.
