Hors d'Oeuvre serves up the dirtiest DB-01 (no talking)

video upload by Richard DeHove

"The Fairfield Circuitry Hors d'Oeuvre pedal is a feedback device. It will act as a sort of distortion by itself but where it shines is with another pedal in its send and return loop. Here I have an MXR Phase-95 followed by a Vahlbruch delay in the loop. The DB-01 is initially running through the Boss GEB-7 EQ pedal, then into the Hors d'Oeuvre.

There are no other effects or processing other than a limiter on the output and a little volume balancing to avoid anyone having to ride the volume knob. The Hors d'Oeuvre is quite sensitive and small adjustments in feedback or phase position can make a big difference to the sound.

I teamed the Hors d'Oeuvre with a couple of other pedals but it definitely seemed to work better with analog devices. For example, a cheap digital reverb I tried gave nothing but painful squeals.

Rare MXR 185 // 80s vintage drum machine SN 000976

"Very rare MXR 185 drum machine. You probably know what you're looking at.
The unit for sale is even rarer because it is one of the latest produce (SN 85-XXXXX) and it includes all the hardware and firmware revision ever made. Early model did not have the remote jacks for accent and start stop, later had these added in factory but only the latest have the lettering added on top. It has many upgrade that make it fully reliable: battery is on socket and can easily be changed, some components were changed(IC, resistors, caps), sounds Eprom were revised as long as firmware (latest one is "control 11" and installed in this unit). All these upgrade were factory made, these are not mods and they are listed in the service manual. You'll get a copy of it as long as a copy of the owner's manual.
To sum it: this is probably one of the best and most reliable unit you will ever find.

The unit is perfectly working. The only small issue is TOM1 fader has a bit of play and can cause some volume dropouts on that instrument when moved. Apart from that it sounds and runs as new.
Seperate outputs give a much better sound than the main mix but even on stereo outputs the sound is very beefy.

Overall condition is very good. Wood cheeks have some dents but they were sanded and varnished and looks very nice.
Unit is a 230v."

TB-303 Into Beads | Acid Eurorack Modular Synthesizer | Happy 303 Day!

video by sworn64

"In celebration of 303 Day I did a little experimenting running the TB-303 into Mutable Instruments Beads.

Roland TB-303 into MXR Distortion + into Mutable Instruments Beads
Sending a clock signal to the Seed input and a clocked sine wave LFO to the Size input on Beads.

Mixed through an Endorphin.es Cockpit 2 using the side chain ducking.

I’m using the Polyend Preset as a simple yet effective way to mute and unmute the kick drum. It is controlling a switch on the WMD SL3KT that has a gate signal passing through it being sent to the kick drum on the Endorphin.es Queen of Pentacles.

Summer is over

Published on Sep 23, 2019 once upon a synth

"This started off as an experiment of running a talkbox tube into various objects other than my mouth. Then it turned into a song. I'm running the Korg Polysix into the MXR M222 talkbox. The talkbox tube is then fed into a Darbuka drum which acts as a resonance chamber. I then sing into this drum and the mic picks it all up. There's some processing in Ableton too and also some drums/bass added.
