XAOC Sopot | Magic Duct Tape for your audio puzzles (w. MakeNoise RxMx, Plaits & Frames)

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I got Sopot a few weeks ago, but got focused on the Leibniz modules and forgot about it a bit. It almost never made it to a case because space is limited and I had to make choices. Yesterday I checked out the manual, tried some patches and a wealth of new ideas just popped up. This is a simple 6HP utility, costing around 90 euro, but it can solve a fortune of mixing challenges when a big fancy mixer is not an option.

In short, Sopot is a summing mixer with four stereo inputs (!) four mono inputs (!!) and mid/side outputs, or mono/stereo if you wish. The mono inputs are normalled to the center, but can be panned 50%/50% with a little center spread. This design is amazing. Highly recommended."

POLARITY - MODULAR SYNTHESIZER LIVE PATCH EXPLAINED

video upload by A Last Picture From Voyager

"Recently I received a clone of the 'rings' from mutable instruments to replace my 'telharmonics', and an 'MFX' multi effect from ALM. After a few test patches I dove into a melody that swept me away. And from a melody, I made a complete piece to which I just had to add a bass line to bring depth. As always, I tried to explain this patch with some subtitles. The way I use the filter for this patch is well explained (with other techniques) inside a XAOC Zagrzeb dedicated video from @MonotrailTechTalk Don’t hesitate to ask for more in the comments."

Black & Gold Function! | Make Noise

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"Make Noise Function has been part of the MATHS family of control voltage utility modules for over a decade! It is a small analog computer designed for solely musical purposes.

We’ve recently decided to produce one last run of the Function, this time with a Black & Gold faceplate, before retiring it, and sending our little ol’ patchin’ pal into the Make Noise Hall of Fame.

Buchla LEM 218e V3 | With MakeNoise Strega, DXG and the Shared System B&G plus.

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"This is probably my first and last genuine banana Buchla 'module' because I really want to stick to Eurorack. But since I love Westcoast synthesis a lot, I think it's a must-have keyboard for anyone serious about MakeNoise, the Buchla/TTA 200T series and any brand that gets inspired by Don Buchla designs (e.g. Frap, Verbos, Serge eurorack). I tried so many keys, controllers, pads, etc, but most of them require MIDI to CV and most of them are designed for polyphonic MIDI with a few extra CV outs. The LEM218e is the orginal keyboard for the Buchla Easel from 1973. It may not be perfect, but it's perfect for the music I love most."

Aurelia | Kaitlyn's Easel Patch on the MakeNoise Shared System

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Nine years ago (time flies) Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith posted one of the most inspiring Buchla patches ever created [links below], puzzling and inspiring the Buchla community from all over the world. Maybe this is the fist video that brings the recipe to Eurorack and the Shared System is a great system to try and cook it. While Kaitlyn's patch is haute cuisine, this is a bit closer to fast food thanks to Rene V2. It's not exactly an Easel keyboard, but a patch like this makes you realize how powerful it really is once you get your head around it. It can turn any CV source into an arpeggio. I am using Brains to sequence good ol' Pressure Points, but since Rene is doing all the heavy lifting, you'll have plenty of time to add some personal expression."

Interlocked Rhythmic Addresses

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"Let's talk about interlocked rhythms, the overlapping of clocking, gate sequencing, voltage addressing, and generally the feeling of rhythms arising from juxtaposed shapes in continuous flux, rather than regimented segments of time.

Noise + Chaos | MakeNoise Spectraphon & Mimeophon

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"I made this video on the 26th, 27th and today the 28th, so it's not a jam but a regular video. The main subject of this video is patching from scratch. With infinite possibilities, where do you begin? For me it's often a patchpoint I haven't used much or don't understand well. I had just finished the Mysteresis video and new ideas pop in when you're done and doing something completely different like cooking or cleaning. Since I've been working with Echophon feedback, I wondered if I could do something different with Mimeophon. Feedback doesn't really work, but how about clocking Mimeophon with Wogglebug, which is clocked by Mimeophon? I call it a clock feedback loop but don't know if there's a name for it. The fun obviously begins when you're going audio rate. The results were interesting, but not as spectacular as I hoped for. Second subject of this video is the Spectraphon Noise + Chaos mode which was added in the lastest firmware. The clock feedback delay and the SP were a nice combo and at the end of the session I finally got something worth sharing. I ended the video with a stock scene from a tibetan bowl player because it looked interesting and it had this relaxing vibe. This morning I patched up the Spectraphon to make bowls, so the stock video makes sense. It sounded very nice! So here's how one idea leads to another and adds up to your knowledge and experience. It's something you can't really learn from a book, you just need to let it happen and learn as you go. So it's noise and chaos from both Mimeophon and Spectraphon, and definitely in the patching process :).

Without a goal and without expectations, because a modular will always take a different route. So always keep that recorder running...."
