Big Ol' Box of Malekko - MA SYN
I figured I'd start and end with this shot. Look at the green letter's behind the top snakeskin Monorocket case and you'll get the MA SYN reference. Synths can be a sin after all.
So, look what arrived in the mail this week. :) A big ol' box of Malekko modules. One Wiard Joystick Axis Generator (JAG), two Richter Anti-Oscillators, two Richter Oscillator IIs, a Richter Noisering, a FADE module and and Wiard XMIX. Richter is Grant Richter of Wiard of course. Malekko produces Wiard modules in eurorack format. Below are a ton of unboxing shots and my Monorocket snakeskin case the modules went into. As you can see, the case is also home to my Division 6 Mattson SQ-816 prototype sequencer. The shots get flashier once I have everything mounted in the case. The top and bottom shot is the case sitting on top of a second snakeskin Monoroket case with a Mattson Mini Modular system to the left and right. The MA SYN in the background is a MATRIXSYNTH banner I had made for events. Mood lighting comes from one of those RGB LED light bulbs with remote, a gift from my good friend Carbon111.
So... You know what I'll be doing this weekend. :) Thank you Malekko Heavy Industry!
On a side note I just found out after setting up this post that Josh of Malekko is setting up a raffle for a number of Malekko modules to benefit Muff of Muffwiggler. Details on that here. Do check it out, it's a chance to help out, and a chance to win some great gear.

I'm beaming with excitement to announce the robots at Darkplace will be busy all this week populating boards (in between playing this thing...i can't believe how awesome it is!!!)
Seriously my favorite sequencer!!!"
According to George Mattson, this is serial #0001.

DFMZ-4 modular skiff
YouTube Published on May 21, 2012 by ISOTROPOSPHERE
I spy a MATRIXSYNTH card. :) Is that an SS Impala badge on Technosaurus blue panel?
"This is a small jam showcasing my recently finished DFMZ-4 modular synth skiff.
This is the second skiff I have built and the first, DFMZ-3, is also shown here because I added a Camaro SS badge to it and wanted to show it off too.
The DFMZ-4 features purpleheart wood end cheeks, Tip Top black rails, a Flight of Harmony Power module feeding a Monorocket distribution board. Sheet metal case with a custom painted finish.
If you notice, the Purpleheart is thinner and taller than the Mahogany cheeks used for my first skiff. Any questions about building one of your own please contact me.
Enjoy!!!"

Auto-Melody Generator w/ Drums (2012)
Auto-Melody Generator w/ Drums (2012) from Keith Fullerton Whitman on Vimeo.
"... testing a revised set of "Auto-Melody Generator" patches (using Intellijel Dixies for the sine waves, a DrumDokta DRM-110 for the drums) for a concert w/ JD Emmanuel in June in Brooklyn ; not that I'm consciously trying to ape his style (which I love) - just trying to yield something a bit more flowing & less asynchronous / manic than the recent "Occlusion" pieces ...
Close-ups of the Voight-Kampff machine, shot with a Canon VIXIA HF M50 (in VERY low afternoon light ; impressive performance) with the stock lens ; line-level audio pumped out of the "thru" of a direct box directly into the mic input of the camera (with the internal manual preamp levels set on the low side ; still doesn't sound half bad despite the output buzz of the Vermona) ..."

"KEITH FULLERTON WHITMAN
SAT MAR 10 8pm
Graham Foundation
Madlener House
4 West Burton Place
At long last, Keith Fullerton Whitman makes his Lampo debut. To mark the special occasion, he offers the U.S. premiere of "Rhythmes Naturels," created at the legendary INA-GRM studios, plus a live modular synth improvisation.
Alors, last October Whitman spent a week in Paris, commissioned to develop a new piece for François Bayle's Acousmonium, an 80-speaker sound system designed in 1974 for the Groupe de Recherches Musicales. Pierre Schaeffer formed GRM, a studio and collective, in the late 1950s to encourage the development of electronic music. Members included Luc Ferrari, Iannis Xenakis, Bernard Parmegiani, among other lions; in the late 1960s Bayle became its director. For a whelp like Keith, the residency was "a life-long dream come true." And, he says, "The piece turned out exactly as I hoped."
Here, he'll do his new work in a 4-channel mix. Here, he talks about the residency, etc.
Keith Fullerton Whitman (b. 1973, Bergen County, N.J.) is a composer and performer obsessed with electronic music, from its mid-century origins in Europe to its contemporary worldwide incarnation as digital music. Currently he is working towards implementing a complete system for live performance of improvised electronic music, which incorporates elements from nearly every era. He has recorded albums influenced by many genres, including ambient music, drone, drill and bass, musique concrète and krautrock. He has recorded and performed using several aliases, of which the most familiar is Hrvatski. Today most of his work is recorded under his real name. Whitman lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts."
