chris randall - exploration.05

Published on Dec 24, 2017 Chris Randall

"I was just horsing about trying to figure out routing, and recorded some simple noodles on the Linnstrument, with Madrona Labs Kaivo providing the synth sounds. Enticing rhythms via Nanoloop Mono via Eventide H9, drones and noises on the four-track (from a tape I had made for another track, natch.)

The Linnstrument and Kaivo/Aalto is a powerful combination, but it's a pain to set up in Live. Probably easier in Mainstage or Logic, but ewww."

Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し) // Sootballs (ボイラー虫) [Geektronica Synth-Rock Cover]

Published on Jan 25, 2017 Ace Waters

"Whenever I arrange a Ghibli track, it always ends up taking a very long time. Joe Hisaishi, even in his simpler tracks, has so much depth that it takes me time to just wrap my head around the song I am covering. I have a few Ghibli tracks I want to cover this year, and this one was the one that Twitter picked. In a weird turn from the norm, I actually listened to the outcome of the twitter poll, and did a cover of Sootballs from Spirited Away."

Say hello to Nanoloop Mono!

Published on Nov 6, 2016 James Chip

"Nanoloop mono is an analogue synth for the nintendo gameboy. This video is just a short view of what it is. Once i have had it a bit longer i will upload some better quality jams with it, but this should give you an idea of what sounds it can make."

You might remember the prototype back in March.

Knatter - Crunchy Beats [Nanoloop 1.2 Chiptune]

Published on Aug 21, 2016 Bjorn Fogelberg

"So I noticed there weren't that many videos/tunes of Nanoloop on Youtube, so I decided to make one. This is a tune I made on Nanoloop 1.2 on a prosound modded Gameboy Color.

Nanoloop is a sequencer and synth for Gameboy. I'd say version 1.2 is not as advanced as the more famous LSDJ but you can use it to make some crazy noisy, crunchy techno sounds and beats."

LoFi Future - GrooveBoy Prototype

via Adam on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

"This is my attempt at making the game boy a tactile and MIDI capable desktop synthesizer. LSDJ, Nanoloop and MGB all available at startup thanks to the built in flash cart. Currently working towards getting them made into CNC'd acrylic/wood enclosures. For now, this one is all handmade."

D.I.Y. MIDI Gameboy demo Published on Nov 19, 2013

"Here is a quick demo of a re-housed game boy advance SP with a built in arduinoboy. Using Midi GB software in this song, but the cart also has Nanoloop and LSDJ flashed to it.

I build devices like these under the pseudonym: LoFi Future

Check out http://lofifuture.tumblr.com/ and http://lofifuture.tumblr.com/ for more information on devices like this."

"Geer used:

MPC500 [Sequencing + Drum samples]
Rehoused MIDI equipped Gameboy [Bass/Synth]
Rehoused Korg Monotron [Filter for gameboy/Synth]
DIY 8 step analog sequencer [Monotron Pith CV/Filter CV]
Yamaha R100 [Reverb]
3G LTD Mynah Plus 8-2-1 [Mixer]

I'm running Mgb on the Gameboy, and the audio out is sent into the filter input on the Monotron. The Monotron mixes the two signals (its own VCO and the Gameboy) to one mono output. The sequencer controls the monotron CV (or gate input, as it works so much better) and i switch it to the Cut off CV input a couple of minutes into the song. The MPC acts as the master clock, sending MIDI to the Gameboy, and sending a rimshot sample at 16th notes out of the right output. all of the other drums are send to the left output. A Yamaha r100 provides some reverb."

Note this is the first LoFi Future post.
