"Rhodes - Chroma (s/n 21010234) - In very good physical condition, but does not work as system locks up at boot up. The power supply was replaced previously, so the troublesome Rhodes power supply was replaced prior to the current problem..
Comes with 2 original Chroma footswitches and the Chroma dual pedal unit. 240V (although switch mode power supply – so should be all OK with 110V)"
"This circuit board came in with one of the many Rhodes Chromas we have bought, restored and resold (we’re finishing another at the moment which we will list soon). It appears to be part of a rare chroma apple ii computer interface that allowed the apple ii computer with sequencing and patch editing software to control a Rhodes Chroma. The Rhodes Chroma website, which is probably the best vintage synth support website we’ve ever come across, has an article on this interface. You can find it by googling rhodes chroma apple computer card. It appears as though there were other components to this interface that we didn’t get with it (converter box, software and possibly more), and we don’t have an apple II computer, so we haven’t tested this item and are selling it as-is as a collectors item, or for parts to possibly get a full system working (with no guarantees)."
"I finally agreed to make a video showing my synthesizer studio. I'm NOT a collector, so you'll see the instruments I've used for over four decades to do my work. It's also my space for composing. In this deep dive studio tour, I walk you through every corner of my space, showing how everything’s connected for performing, recording, and creative flow.
You’ll see icons like the 'Plantasia' Moog Modular IIIc, Synclavier II, Rhodes Chroma with Expander & Enabler, Oberheim Four Voice, Elka Synthex, Roland Jupiter 8, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, ARP 2600s, Korg MS modular synths, some classic Minimoog — plus a few modern synths I’ve added as I look to the future. Alongside the synths are vintage drum machines, string machines, and rare electric keyboards including a 1973 Fender Rhodes Suitcase and Hohner Clavinet/Pianet Duo.
We'll also explore racks of outboard gear, vocoder units, tape echoes, and a vast array of my custom guitar pedal options, efx pedal boards and studio effects racks that make this room endlessly inspiring. I'll also reveal how my entire studio is designed for instant creativity, featuring 48 channels of synth drivers and stage boxes, so any synth can be patched and recorded on the fly."
"A rare and beautifully preserved example of the final production model in the Rhodes lineage, the Mark V represents the culmination of decades of electric piano design. This unit is in excellent condition, with original sustain pedal and plastic lid. Hinge functionality is a bit hampered for this unit but can be opened and closed without serious issues.
Please note that the original legs are not included.
Compared to earlier models, the Mark V offers a lighter cabinet, improved action, and more articulate tone, making it equally suitable for recording, live performance, and collectors who value both sound and design.
Key Features:
Restored by noted keyboard tech Matt Cunitz in the San Francisco Bay Area 73-key electric piano with tines and passive pickups Redesigned action for improved feel and consistency Polyurethane hammer tips for enhanced dynamic response Includes original pedal and lid Compact and lighter than earlier models Condition Notes:
Fully functional with even key response All included hardware and pedal components working properly The Mark V is the most elusive of the Rhodes line, produced in smaller quantities and built with thoughtful upgrades that make it a standout among vintage electric pianos. A rare opportunity to own one in such complete and clean condition.

"In this episode of Helium Vision, we invite you into a world that hums with the strange and the beautiful—the Vintage Synthesizer Museum (VSM). Founded in 2013 by the avid synthesizer historian Lance Hill, this “living museum” exists in a space where the past and present come together to offer an immersive experience into the magical world of sound. It’s not just a museum—it’s a place where visitors and artists can disappear into their work, perform in a unique atmosphere, or learn the art of synthesis.
Initially opening its doors in Oakland the VSM is now nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, this space has since witnessed the presence of many modern visionaries—Damon Albarn, Egyptian Lover and Neurosis, to name a few—each leaving behind their own distinctive imprints.
Come with us, as we step into the otherworldly corners of the Vintage Synthesizer Museum and uncover the tales of the instruments that dwell within.

"An exceptional example of one of the most advanced analog synthesizers of its era. The Rhodes Chroma — originally developed by ARP and finished under the Rhodes brand — delivers 16 analog voices with velocity sensitivity, deep modulation architecture, and dynamic expressiveness years ahead of its time.
This unit is in excellent condition and includes key upgrades: a MIDI retrofit, the Sterooping programmer for hands-on control, and a rugged, custom-built, almost-new ATA flight case for transport and storage. The Chroma has been tested and is performing as expected.
Key Features:
16 analog voices with single or dual oscillator assignability Velocity-sensitive weighted keyboard Extensive modulation options with assignable routings Unique filter architecture with variable state filters Includes the Sterooping programmer for tactile, real-time control MIDI upgrade installed for modern integration ATA-rated flight case included Condition Notes:
Excellent overall condition Tested and working as expected Flight case shows typical wear but protects the unit well One of the rarest and most collectible instruments of the early digital/analog crossover era, the Chroma has been used by artists such as Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, and Eddie Jobson. With these modern upgrades, it remains a powerful and expressive studio centerpiece.
30% of proceeds support the Bob Moog Foundation, preserving and celebrating the legacy of electronic music."
"It just keeps coming. An HVAC company installed a mini-split in 2020, right after the warranty goes out, we find that they likely didn't connect the flare nuts right, causing it to slowly leak. They haven't responded about my complaint... but they did tell me it would be $3600 to repair.
I woke up to my wife asking me to help me find our second oldest cat who wouldn't come for food, which wasn't typical. All day she sat, unmoved. Her breath rate at 70. It finally dropped. And, tonight we finally got her to eat some tuna. But I've forced her to drink water... and, well, it just sucks to have your furry friend so sick, and we have lots of them to share their pain.
And our car has had a strange issue... all of this, right before we go on a trip. Makes sense.
Oh well - guess this is just life. I'll take it over the alternative.

(eng) I was in the mood for a relaxing piece so I made one for myself! It started by sampling some new sounds into Arbhar. Rhodes, Piano, Vibraphone, Accordion, Synth bass and Strings. In my experience this module works best when sampling phrases to then sweep around with its engine instead of single notes. It leads to more happy accidents and interesting textures. In this jam only the vibraphone and some rhodes was used.
The high texture vocal-like sound is myself singing into Mojave and locking the buffer. I tweaked the module until I found something that worked. It was mixed with a bass line in the subharmonicon and sent to the Dual Dagger to control the dynamics of the song. Lastly the Analog Four is adding Kick, Hi-Hat and two simple lines on top. I also improvise with a Nord Rhodes sound on top in some of the parts."
"Fender Rhodes Chroma Polaris synth review, demo and sounds. The Chroma Polaris is a classic 6-voice analog synthesizer released in 1984 by Fender Rhodes, and has Arp heritage. Join me for a review of the Chroma Polaris where I provide an overview, demo presets and patches, and provide my final thoughts on this vintage synth."
"The second instalment of my improvised jam sessions in the studio features the Roland TR-707, Jupiter 8, RE-201 and Rhodes Electric Piano.
The Jupiter 8’s Lower Arpeggiator is triggered by the TR-707 leaving the Upper part on chord duties which runs through the Space Echo. The Rhodes is going through an EchoFix Chorus Vibrato and Spring Reverb.
I was feeling late night synthwave vibes with this one!
"Field recordings of a cicada-filled park, Nord Lead, and Rhodes
A piece built from park ambience where cicadas sing—heard against the memory of a summer so hot that, these days, even the cicadas in Tokyo seldom call.
This year in Tokyo the heat has been relentless, and opportunities to hear cicadas have become scarce.
Harmony and melodies are performed on the @NordKeyboards Nord Lead and Rhodes.
The field recordings are re-recorded into the @teenageengineering OP-1 field and transformed using its onboard filter and an @KORG_INC NTS-1 for additional processing."

"This is a short video of my 1984 Rhodes Chroma. I am the original owner.
This shows me creating a scratch patch using the CC+ Split 39 function , which shows the instrument functioning as it should"
Is it fully functional , has the CC+ and midi interface , and a new power supply installed by the best Chroma tech on the east coast.
It is cosmetically beautiful. The black metal top shows a few scratches from having a Rhodes Chroma Polaris on it years ago, hence the 'excellent' vs ' mint ' condition
It has a new flight case to original specs, all original manuals , all needed pedals , although those are not original"
"A crossover track featuring Rhodes MK2, @NordKeyboards Nord Lead, @SequentialLLC Prophet-10, and @MoogSynthesizers Grandmother, where breakbeats intertwine with electric-piano and synth lines.
Rhodes MK2: Runs through a @BOSSinfoglobal BOSS CE-5 chorus, then the @ChaseBlissAudio GENERATIONcha LOSS MK II for tape-style lo-fi warmth.
Nord Lead: Plays the main synth lead, treated with reverb from @gfisys Specular Tempus.
Prophet-10: Swaps patches on the fly, adding abstract synth textures and additional leads.
"It's been a month. As I said, my wife lost her job in May. We hoped she would get a job that seemed like a great fit, someone had reached out to her and said she'd be perfect. Guess they didn't think so later. Oh well.
I did manage to extract all the audio from my old Roland VS-840GX. I kind of wish I was still recording using that thing, it was so good for just sitting down without a screen and recording whatever I wanted, but using a DAW is just so much nicer.
I had half written the rhodes part on this track, when I ended up recording something else that I plan to put into a rock track (yes, I am trying to get back into writing that type of music). Came back to this last night and recorded this, with some changes. Funny how walking away and coming back to something helps you change it for the better.
I used the Fractal Audio FM3 as a looper to loop the first part and then played everything else over it. The Rhodes and Prophet VS was performed in one go, the guitar was done in a second round with Eventide Blackhole VST for reverb.
Well, I hope you enjoy this - my first track written in a month."
"A track built with the Rhodes MK2, @WeAreElektron Digitakt, and @SequentialLLC Prophet-10—a glitchy lo-fi beat where electric-piano chords, synth lines, and chopped rhythms interlock.
Rhodes MK2: Runs through a CE-5 chorus, then the @ChaseBlissAudio GENERATION LOSS MK II for tape coloration, giving the sound a slightly wobbly feel.
Prophet-10: Plays a simple phrase with reverb from a @strymon blueSky.
Digitone: (using sliced drum hits) reconstructs the rhythm, while the @ChaseBlissAudio MOOD MK II adds reverb, pitch-shifts, and micro-loop glitches."
"Fantastic Rhodes Chroma Polaris. This Chroma has a new membrane, has been fully serviced including battery, full factory reset/spec, Factory load. Super rich, midi heavy Poly analog. Great integration, expressive w/ pedal and assignments.
The panel was installed a year ago and in that time something did press the surface (see last pic) - no functional issues, but wanted to note the visual since it is a new membrane."
"We have some fun with the newly released Wurli from Rhodes. Yes, it's actually a re-creation of the Wurlitzer 200a from *Rhodes*. The use the same platform as their Anthology and flagship Rhodes V8 Pro instruments to create a detailed model of the different mechanics and electronics of the Wurli, including the metal reeds and the built-in preamp and speakers.
