Synergy DK1 Synthesizer GDS w/ Custom Cool Red & Blue Capped Knobs

via this auction

"This fine specimen is in full working order. No aftermarket modifications (besides the knobs which were lost), the original fan is still in place. I opted to put a quieter one in my MKII. Few demos exist of this early FM synth but with some youtube searching you can find some terrible ones mostly.

Its alright cosmetically with no major breaks or problems. Yes there are dings to the corners and nicks on the surface but no more than to be expected for this type of age. I plan to list more photos tonight.

I have restored 3 of them and this is a mark 1. I have a mark 2 that offers the Kaypro II connectivity and I do not have a need for the mark 1 so with reluctance I am taking offers. There is an aftermarket kit available that lets you make a mark 1 a mark 2 but I didn't want to go down that road at this point.

Besides, its rarity and place in musical FM history are undeniable."

SCI PROPHET 5 + DK SYNERGY + KORG MONOPOLY + STEINER PARKER SYNTHACON ~ Vintage Synthesizer Museum

Published on Jun 2, 2017 once upon a synth

"Demo of the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, DK Synergy, Korg Monopoly and Steiner Parker Synthacon. The Prophet 5 is a vintage analog polysynth, the Synergy is a vintage digital polysynth, the Monopoly is a vintage paraphonic analog synth and the Synthacon is a vintage analog monosynth. I start off by playing melodic music and end with more experimental sounds on the Synthacon. I recorded these demos at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum here in California. Some light reverb was applied in post via ValhallaDSP Room."

Vintage 80s DK Synergy II version 2.45

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Holiday Greetings fellow synth lovers. Here we have a DK Synergy II with flight case, pedal (you need the pedal connected so the portamento will engage, it was around 1997 that I read this in the manual and it relieved a lot of frustration), and original manuals (not a copy) for the serial interface and operation of the Synergy itself.

This DKII is version 2.45 and is a transitional instrument for DK before they moved on to the DKII+ with midi.

With the serial port you are able to load sounds, attach the Synergy to a sequencer, and the best feature is you can slave the DKII to another DKII or DKII+ for double the DK power and sound, connecting them to each other's serial port. I've done this and it sounds insane with some of the more aggressive sounding patches.

The complete manual for all these operations is thankfully included. The manual for the serial interface is very in depth.

This unit powers on and works great."

Vintage Digital Keyboards Synergy II+ 1983 Near Mint Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Here we have for sale a very rare 1983 Digital Keyboards Synergy II+ It is estimated that there are less than 100 left in the world, and this is the nicest example I have seen or heard of. The only things showing wear are some of the accessories. Included accessories: Kaypro II computer (Mint), all software, serial cable (Cable is missing casing on one end but it is fully functional %100 of the time and you cant see it once it is plugged in), original Synergy Users manual and all documentation, 3 voice cartridges, original foot pedal, and anvil road case. The synth has the name J. Burwell stenciled on the top in what appears to be transparent paint. It is only visible with a light shined on it, pretty weird. The foam inside the case is old and coming apart but the synth is wrapped up in sheets while it is in the case. The case does its job but will need to be refoamed. This is a 100% fully functional system."

Digital Keyboards Synergy Vintage Polyphonic Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Up for sale, a Digital Keyboards Synergy model polyphonic synthesizer in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. Of the estimated 700-800 Synergy keyboards originally produced, it's estimated that less than 100 are still in existence, and this example is easily one of the cleanest and most complete, with the original pedal, manual, and paperwork. This synthesizer was produced from 1982-85, and Digital Keyboards was a high-end US-based division of the Italian company Crumar. Using a high speed additive oscillator system developed by Bell Laboratories, Digital Keyboards created a sophisticated additive synthesizer known as the Crumar General Development System (GDS). While the GDS originally had a price tag of a whopping $27,500, the Synergy was a moderately stripped down version that sold for a mere $5,300 (roughly $13,000 when adjusted for inflation). A favorite of pioneering electronic music composer Wendy Carlos and a synth that has inspired a fervent following, the Synergy was state of the art in its time and is an enduring classic today.

The cosmetic condition of this Synergy is exceptional, as evidenced by the photos, with only a couple light scuffs on the plastic top and tolexed exterior. The original dual foot pedal is included, along with an IEC power cable, the manual, and other original paperwork."

via the seller: "A rare Digital Keyboards inc. Synergy synthesizer keyboard. Has some wear: scratches, some peeling laminate, worn edges, dusty, and slight yellowing to keys and graphics. All buttons, knobs, keys, and joystick are present. No midi on this model(this is the 1st generation). I got this in a storage locker and am not familiar with all of it's functions. It does power on and I was able to test the keyboard along with the 24 presets tones, also the pitch bend joystick and the right & left volume knobs were tested and they work. Has more functions but I don't know how to test. Includes Keyboard and power cord only, no accessories."

DK Synergy Digital Keyboards Synthesizer with Kaypro 2X Computer SN 01027

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Rare wood cabinet, with some normal wear marks and scratches, overall good condition. All switches work, all keys work, (on two or three keys, the sound may not release right away, the key itself does not physically stick. ) The instrument has not been played much over the last 7 or 8 years. The included Kaypro II computer works and communicates with the Synergy, allowing access to entire voice library (included), and included SYNHCS software allows programming the synth. There may only be 100 or so of these instruments around, (I have owned 2 of them), and there is nothing else like it in terms of the sound. This auction includes the following: Synergy Synthesizer, 4 Voice cartridges, Complete voice library on 15 discs, Communication software (4 discs), Power cord, Dual foot pedal, 2 owners manuals, Preliminary Host programming manual, Schematics, Kaypro 2 computer, System software, Serial cable to connect to Synergy, Kaypro owner's manual, CP/m programming manual."

Update: two carts (VCart4 V.1 SC-4, VCart1 V.3 SC-1) listed separately here.

"For sale is a rare DK Synergy Digital Keyboards synthesizer. This one is fully functional & working well. Quite a rare keyboard, estimated less than 100 exist today. Cosmetically it is in used shape, there is lots of signs of wear including: yellowing keys/graphics, wear on the tolex, a few dings, & musty smell. There is no midi on this model. I have two rare cartridges for sale in a separate auction so be sure to check those out. This is a great chance to own a legendary synth..."

Not sure on the 100 number, but there you have it.
