Voltage Modular Updates At Synthplex 2019

"At SynthPlex 2019, Kazike of large-format modular maker Club Of The Knobs introduced a new company, WaveFront Audio, and their first product, the Sixteen Channel Spectral Vocoder.

The vocoder builds on the classic Bode analog vocoder design, considered by many to be one of the best-sounding vocoders ever created.

Kazike also gave us a quick look at the monster Moog Unit modular synth he had on display at SynthPlex."

The History Of The Minimoog, From Model A To The Model D

"At SynthPlex 2019, Electronic Music Education and Preservation Project (EMEAPP) made its first synth event appearance - and was displaying the prototypes for the Minimoog.

EMEAPP is a non-profit group, dedicated to "Archiving and sharing the history, artists and tools of electronic music, keeping it alive and relevant for the future."

We talked with Executive Director Drew Raison & Associate Director Vince Pupillo, Jr., who gave us an introduction to the organization and its mission. They also gave us a tour of their Minimoog prototypes, and some of the design decisions that not only determined the shape of one of the most iconic synths of all time - but many of standard features of synths that have followed."

"Empress Effects Zoia is a fully programmable modular synthesis and effects environment inside of a pedal. The glowing buttons on the front of the pedal let you see what sections are modulating what other sections and change routing and modules. It can send and receive midi control and be played with a keyboard, or use internal sequencers and modulation. External audio can be routed through it and modified, or you can generate complete sounds from within it. There are more than 80 types of modules that can be used in it and you can save up to 64 preset patches.
