Emission live #272 - AODYO OMEGA, le poly à modélisation physique (ft. Deep Forest & Adrien Perinot)

video upload by Les Sondiers

A few details and pics via their Kickstarter campaign follow.

"In December 2020, thanks to Kickstarter contributors, we achieved a successful campaign for Anyma Phi, the compact desktop monophonic physical modelling synthesizer. Six months later, we delivered it to our contributors.

Since then, we listened to the users feedback and worked on a more powerful and full featured instrument: Anyma Omega. Based on Anyma Phi synth engine, we designed Anyma Omega, a powerful hybrid polyphonic and multitimbral synthesizer. Its physical modelling synthesis engine allows to create new sound universes inspired from the real world, where objects collide, vibrate, and resonate.

Anyma Omega comes in two versions: desktop and keyboard, both including a large display and many controls, with unique sensitive wooden surfaces to feed resonators and enhance expression.

Whether you play live or compose music in the studio, design your own sounds or play presets, Anyma Omega will become a flexible and original addition to your setup.

PHYSICAL MODELLING

Anyma Omega blends the classic ingredients of electronic music with physical modelling technology, allowing it to simulate acoustic sound sources, such as strings or reeds, as well as resonating structures, like wood, glass, or metal.

POLYPHONY

16-notes polyphony with all the richness of Anyma's synthesis engine.

MULTITIMBRALITY

4 sound parts splitted, layered or even chained.

EXPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE

Proven Fatar® velocity sensitive semi-weighted synth action keybed with aftertouch for musical and expressive playing.

Numerous controls to enrich the performance and unique sensitive wooden surfaces (ribbon and touchpad) to feed resonators and enhance expression.

EASY EDITION

Easy access to 14 macro parameters controlling the main characteristics of patches.

Tweak every parameter of every module with the large display and controls, unleashing the power of a semi-modular synth at your fingertips.

Direct access to the various modules thanks to the interactive synthesis path diagram.

ALEAGEN

Create aleatory consistent patches, by pushing a single button, based on smart random algorithms.

POLYMORPH

Beyond polyphony, the exclusive PolyMorph feature can provide extra width, density and depth to the sound: fine-blend panspread, unison, expression and morphing for every single note.

TUNING AND MICROTUNING

With Anyma Omega you can use any scale or tuning to make your sound travel all around the world and the eras.

Explore our multiple microtuning presets. You can also load Scala (.scl) or Anamark (.tun) files in Anyma Omega by converting them to MIDI Tuning standard (MTS) format. In addition to importing and exporting tunings, there are several options that can be used to define and edit tunings directly on the instrument: reference tone adjustment, 12-tone octave scale, tuning table for each note and n-EDO scales.

CONNECTIVITY

With a lot of input and output ports, Anyma Omega easily connects to all the machines, synths and controllers. It is compatible with any standard MIDI controller, including our own electronic wind instrument: Sylphyo.

Plug external audio and use Anyma Omega as a powerful modular FX processor.

FREE EDITOR / LIBRARIAN

Free multi-platform editor/librarian inherited from and compatible with Anyma Phi's sound bank. Organize, archive and share your Anyma patches and performances.

Based on the Anyma Phi monophonic and monotimbral sound engine, Anyma Omega is polyphonic and multitimbral. Play up to 16 notes simultaneously and combine up to 4 sound parts (individual patches) in a performance. Route audio signal from one part to another to create monstous patches.

Anyma Omega Desktop provides an advanced user interface, making the use of an external editor quite unnecessary. We kept the macro parameters matrix of the Anyma Phi available, now available simultaneously thanks to the big TFT IPS color display and its 16 push encoders."

Anyma Phi: Sequenced using a groovebox & Roli Seaboard Rise 25

Aodyo Instruments

"In this demo, Romain sequences the Anyma Phi using a simple MC-303 groovebox.

All sounds are generated by the Anyma Phi, except for kick provided by the groovebox :
- a plucked string + a VA oscillator (bassline), going into filter, resonator and a little phaser
- a resonator plus delay
- an external input source (kick drum mixed into the Anyma Phi and passed through a filter + resonator)

NB: encoder response to be improved.

Demo and sound design by Romain Bricout.

Anyma Phi blends the classic ingredients of electronic music with physical modeling technology, allowing it to simulate acoustic sound sources, such as strings or reeds, as well as resonating structures, like wood, glass, or metal."

Anyma Phi: Played using a Roli Seaboard Rise 25

"In this demo, Romain plays the Anyma Phi using a Roli Seaboard Rise 25, directly plugged into the Anyma Phi USB port. He made a hybrid beefy bass patch made of physical modelling and virtual analog elements (VA oscillator and 24 dB/oct ladder filter).

Anyma Phi and Anyma Phi V physical modeling synth with Chase Bliss Mood mk2 and OXI One

video upload by Mike Laaksonen

"Anyma Phi from Aodyo Instruments is quite wonderful little monophonic physical modeling synth, that can do much more than just physical modeling. You can use 3 oscillators that you can choose from a long list, ranging from different wave forms, resonators, 2-op FM, wavetables etc.

You can use audio input as an oscillator, either external input or in-built contact microphone. So, Anyma Phi is not just a synth, but audio effect unit, too. However you use it , there are lots of configuration parameters and options.

Those 3 oscillators are routed to main and aux bus, where you can apply 5 effects, pan them in stereo field, add reverb, which is then put out as stereo audio.

Recently, Aodyo has launched as software version of Anyma Phi, called Anyma V. It is identical to hardware unit, except that Anyma V is polyphonic. Anyma V is a by-product of Aodyo's biggest development project, namely Anyma Omega, which is larger sibling of Anyma Phi. As a backer I have been eagerly waiting its launch, which may happen at end of year."

Anyma Phi: Percussive Playing Surface & Resonating Strings Demos

Anyma Phi: Percussive playing surface Demo
Aodyo Instruments

"The percussive playing surface will allow you to tap and scratch your sounds directly on the case, making your performance even more expressive and fun! Here is a quick demo of what we could integrate into Anyma Phi's case.

This would be made possible by integrating a piezoelectric contact microphone into the case. The resulting sound would be available to use on the Anyma as an audio input, ready to be fed into resonators and effects!"

Anyma Phi: Playing using a MIDI guitar (MIDI pickup + audio input)

Aodyo Instruments

"You can play the Anyma Phi as a synth, using a MIDI controller, or as an audio effects unit, using the audio input. Or… you can do both at the same time!
Here, Jonathan uses a guitar equipped with a Fishman TriplePlay MIDI pickup that sends the MIDI data of his performance to the Anyma Phi, in addition to the guitar's own audio output.
Having both MIDI and audio allows you to augment your guitar sound with resonators and other physical models that are always kept in tune with your playing, opening a wide range of possibilities!

Playing the Anyma Phi - Carlo Mezzanotte

video upload by carlomezz

"A few sound examples from the Anyma Phi, a 3-oscillator monophonic/paraphonic desktop synthesizer from French manufacturer Aodyo - one of the very few hardware synthesizers based on Physical Modeling technology. This demo includes patches that use OS 1.1.0, a new release that gives the Anyma Phi a substantial feature boost. It now sports 45 oscillator types, 47 modulator types and 34 FX module types.

To manage its complex synthesis architecture, the Anyma Phi comes with a computer editor, but it can also be programmed using the front panel only. A nice addition is the inclusion of a piezoelectric pick-up, allowing the musician to play percussively just tapping on the panel.

A polyphonic version, the Anyma Omega, is in the works."

"Anyma Phi is a desktop physical modeling synthesizer with various algorithms(from Mutable Instrumets Elements, Rings, Braids, Plaits etc.) that simulate resonators, strings, organ pipes and other acoustic sound sources. Thanks to the audio inputs, Anima Phi can also be used as an effects unit to play external sounds through said models. For example, you can play a drum loop through a string model, adding an organic tail to any transient. Other effects such as reverb, delay, ring modulator, etc. are also available. In total, Anima Phi currently offers 69 different modules that can be interconnected via the matrix. Thus, the small device represents a pretty powerful sound shaping tool. Classic MIDI-Din-I/O and USB-MIDI allow the integration of any MIDI controller, sequencer and your DAW."

Mark Steiner - Time Travel Wind Synth Sound Collection (incl. the Nyle Steiner Historical Patches)

video upload by Mark Steiner

"For the Holiday season I'm offering my Time Travel Collection (license to all my sound collections future and past). And this will include the new Nyle Steiner Historical Sound Collection. Sounds he sampled himself and used in Hollywood movie sessions and more.

The first 10 orders will also get a sound named after them. Cool or silly but fun for sure!

Cost during the holidays starting now is $250.

I'll very soon have a full list up. But it includes 100 or more sounds for EVI-NER, Lyricon 1 and 2, Arturia SEM V plugin, Moog Model D for iPad, and more...

Also around 30 to 50 sounds for Anyma Phi, Moog Sirin, Arturia MatrixBrute and Respiro (both for plugin and iPad/iPhone app)... A few of my Respiro sounds will also be free to anyone. I may do up to 100 of those but at least 50.

I am also preparing and will ongoing make new sample sounds for Logic and MainStage ($30 application for Mac). These include per-note sample instrument made from analog synths, rare and exotic modules/modular synths, tube synthesis, samples from vintage EVI and EWI modules and all kinds of things.

I would note, the Anyma Phi just had an update and added more oscillator types including multi-dimensionally morphing wave table oscillators that are frosty and glassy and sound unreal. This is one of the most amazing and diverse sounding instruments and made for wind synths. I'm dying over the sounds I continue to discover within. So 100% something to get if you have a chance. Analog in it sounds soooooo good, and then so much unreal digital and physical modeling... all mixable to 3 independently expressive layers. It's a technology creature of wonder. ---fully unpaid testimonial/bought my own unit :)

Anyone who has already bought any of my sounds can upgrade to this bundle during the holidays for $150.

More info coming soon. More videos of new sounds including the Nyle samples (including his Rapping from the EVI Concerto, his own trumpet playing sample instrument, and his own exotic flute sound he carved.)

Most of these are all ready now, the rest will electronically ship by Thanksgiving.

A few parts of this seem a bit odd. At times I like to keep unexpected things from sessions in the videos as they are unusual, interesting, funny, or whatever. This one had a few things rarely caught organically... some gibberish Tourette's that I don't understand a few times (from my brain injury I'm still climbing back from). I thought I'd never share that but it felt right tonight. So it's just a little something that is organic and personal. I was also just pretty out of it in some ways from being up so late, I'm usually this... um... gone lol. Anyway, an interesting little journal entry in a way.

Thank you so much, sincerely,

Mark"
