The Modular Synthesizers of Don Buchla - System 100, 200, 200e

video upload by HAINBACH

"At my recent residency at EMS Elektronenmusikstudio in Stockholm I had the rare chance to experience the modular synthesizers of Don Buchla first hand. From an exact replica of the System 100, an original system 200, a large mixed System 200 and the more recent 200e, it felt like travelling through time. Join me on this trip, and have a listen to my 'Buchla Stories' EP here:"

Buchla 200e - Stepping back

video upload by batchas

"Taking my smartphone to make a quick video: some impressions on impulse about the 200e while I'm thinking of selling the rest of the system. A few modules are gone already...
I said I ordered the 200e system in 2012, it's 2011."

BUCHLA 36 (Brutal dark IDM modular synth performance)

video upload by Kevin Rix

"Delve into the dark weirdness of the Buchla 200e. Easily the most interesting instrument I own. It challenges the user to explore new ways to express music and sound. The drums are created by self resonating the 291e triple filter module. Over the summer I explored more complex patching. All the random stereo ripping sounds are from a cross modded 258 classic into the bottom section of the 296 classic. The first batch created a fm like noise when opening the wide knob. Buchla USA recalled the first batch for a cleaner circuit, but I decided to keep it:) I'll be releasing many of these explorations over the next few months.

I'm planning to upload on a regular basis. This world we live in is becoming increasingly more complicated and is about to see a huge shift with the arrival of AI. I want this channel to showcase raw performances and celebrate the human aspect of art and music.

This is an anti-AI channel. Everything is composed and performed by me with no editing. Just raw performances created in the moment. My musical interests take my into strange and unpredictable areas. At the core, I'm a composer of epic cinematic music. Fortunately, it's what I do for work. The music on this channel represents the other curiosities I have with music and sound. AI just spits out sound a likes and has no real soul. I'm not trying to appeal to those who prefer AI playlists. In my opinion, those people are not true fans of music and art. AI isn't affected by culture, community and what's happening in the world, so it can never make a true artistic statement. "

TipTop Buchla 200t

video upload by Oxix52

"I sold off my 200e system about 3 years ago. I recently put together a TipTop Audio 200t system. It's been pretty fun. This is a short play with the 259t as the only audio source. I used one non-Buchla module--the Intellijel Springy 2. It's mono output is being sent to the 296t to make it stereo."

Schallwerk 200e: Okolytic Implant 23

video upload by verstaerker

"Ein Fragment aus der Zukunft des Körpers.
Metallische Pulse, biomechanische Rhythmen und fragmentierte Kontrollspannungen treffen auf kalte, klinische Präzision.
Dieses Implantat sendet keine Signale – es formt sie.

Ein audiovisueller Eingriff zwischen organischem Feedback und synthetischer Disziplin.
Erzeugt, moduliert und transformiert mit dem Buchla 200e System.

Synths That Tanked! Top 15 Value Crashes You Won’t Believe!?

video upload by Andy Whitmore

You be the judge. Feel free to comment below.

"💥 The biggest synth value crashes of all time! These once-iconic instruments lost tens of thousands in value—from legendary analog giants to futuristic digital monsters.

You've seen the synths that became priceless icons… but what about the ones that didn’t?

In this countdown, we reveal 15 professional synthesizers that lost the most value from their original prices (adjusted for inflation). From boutique rarities to digital behemoths, these are the synths that hit the market hard—and hit resale even harder.

🎹 We cover:

Synth name + release year

Original price + adjusted inflation value

Current resale value

Total loss 💸

A fun or tragic fact per synth

Whether it's a Fairlight, Synclavier, or the ultra-rare GX-1, some of this gear once cost more than a house… and now? Let’s just say you could buy one for the price of a laptop.

🧠 Think you can guess the biggest loser?"

A bar on Tres-4 / Korg PS3300, Buchla 200e, Roland 100M, Arp 2600

Buchla 200e Program Switch

video upload by verstaerker

"Initially, a straightforward sequence runs without any preset morphing or remote program changes.

After we heard the sequence a bit I connect the trigger outs of the 252e to the 225e Program Manager. At this point, you’ll hear the two VCOs begin to switch through their stored presets in sync with the trigger pulses — while the rest of the system remains unaffected, as only the VCOs are assigned to respond to remote program changes.

I’ll continue refining this setup with more modules enabled for remote control, and dial in more purpose-fit sounds to push this concept further.

Delay courtesy of the Strymon Volante, adding some extra flavor."

Buchla Explorations

video upload by Prism Circuits

"This event was curated by Buchla and Prism Circuits to bring a night of Buchla instrumentation. It is rare that one gets to see a live show with a Buchla instrument involved, let alone 4 individual performers playing all Buchla. The exact reason for bringing this show to life was to let guests here the true raw sound of these instruments in a live setting to explore the sonic possibilities.

Siren Alarm Overdrive

video upload by verstaerker

"Please enjoy my latest Industrial track at high volume!!!
Based on the same but tweaked Buchla 200e patch as in 'Dreadful Machine Rhythms' The beats are done on the Yocto 8080 and an additional fill sound created with my beloved Cwejman S1.
A very important role plays the Analog Heat - it delivers the crunchy distortion to heat up the sounds as needed !
