"Erica Synths Hexdrums drum machine is easy to use. That's the usual wisdom, and it's true. If you already know the basics of drum machines then you can get started in seconds. Yet there are still around 20 performance functions to master and some crucial configuration options. The way accents work, for example, is not as obvious as it seems, just check 17:39
So this is a video manual to all the essential sequencer operations. It contains absolutely nothing about programming sounds. Part 2 will cover all the remaining function such as live performance options, samples and song mode.
Apologies in advance for the somewhat fuzzy appearance of the display characters - in reality of course they are crisp :/ At least the front panel text is sharp.

"Oscar is unique take on an oscillator, providing the very best of both semiconductor and thermionic worlds, namely - good pitch tracking and distinctive vacuum tube / transformer sound. Nothing you have heard before.
The oscillator in its sawtooth core is equipped with Thyratron tube (TG1B). Sync threshold can be controlled with the MOD AMT dial.
Second tube (6F12P) is utilized in a novel waveshaper for Soft Pulse (Triangle-like) and Hard Pulse (square-wave like) waveforms - with the transformer feedback. Indtroducing AcidBoxMynah

"AcidBoxMynah is an alternative firmware that turns the Mynah into an acid groovebox. Based on the open source AcidBox project for ESP32. It provides an acid combo of tb303 + tb303 + tr808 like synths. Filter cutoff, reso, env mod, accent, wavefolder, overdrive within each 303, per-instrument tunings, hi-pass/lo-pass filter and bitcrusher in drums, send to reverb, delay and master compression
While the original project is headless, the AcidBoxMynah fork provides direct control with the Mynah hardware and adds a number of additional features detailed in the user Manual below. Like the original firmware, the AcidBoxMynah is open source and made available under the MIT license.

"Hot on the heels of Mynah's launch this past May, Groovesizer has released AcidBoxMynah - a free, open-source alternative firmware that transforms the ESP32-S3-based sampler into a dedicated acid groovebox.
Built on copych's open-source AcidBox project, AcidBoxMynah takes what was originally a headless engine and gives it a full physical UI on Mynah hardware - 24 tactile switches, an 8×2 NeoPixel grid, OLED display, and a single pot for hands-on parameter control. Under the hood, it's a combo of two TB-303-style synths plus a TR-808-style drum machine, with filter cutoff, resonance, envelope mod, accent, wavefolder and overdrive per synth voice, plus hi-pass/lo-pass filtering and bitcrushing on the drums, all routed through send effects and master compression.
The Mynah fork adds a 16-step sequencer with per-step note, accent and slide editing, 16-lane synth and 8-lane drum automation, scale quantization, swing, and manual Sequencer Mode in addition to the original's autonomous Jukebox Mode. A little music today. So I said the last one would be the last one on this channel, but.... Labyrinth is still cool, definitely still the 2nd best and delicious sibling to the Subharmonicon. I find more unique instruments like this cool, I will say, nothing beats the Subharmonicon as the true BOAT GOAT. I've never thought about what makes instruments like this so inspiring, and well it's more or less that it's so imperfect. I show off an attempt at a short performance with some Moogs, it goes, uhhhh fine. lol"

"There are hardware enthusiasts, those who prefer a DAWless setup and then those who no longer need physical synths and do everything via software, and so on. Personally, I’m a staunch advocate of both worlds—hardware and software—and I believe the best results come from combining them. I am simply opposed to AI-generated music. It’s nothing personal against AI in general, which can be absolutely brilliant, but it’s just not my cup of tea when it comes to music. I also think that 100% digital is often a bit flat, soulless, but that's just my opinion. What about you?

XpandrLink, a native Mac/Windows editor and DAW plugin for Xpander/Matrix-12 (beta)

"I'm Jake, a Matrix-12 & Xpander owner and synth repair tech. For the past few months I've been building something that has gotten a lot of use in my studio: XpandrLink, a from-scratch C++/JUCE editor for these synths built using XplorerEditor's protocol and design as reference, with standalone, AU, and VST3 builds for both macOS and Windows. I've been really enjoying having this tool for my own purposes and wanted to share it with the community if anyone else might also find it useful.
First, the part that matters most to me. Like many of you, I've used XplorerEditor for years. It's a big reason these synths are still practical to own and play, and this project only exists because of the groundwork it laid. I started down this road after reading a note more than a year ago in the XplorerEditor README: the developer had no time to add new features but welcomed forks and PRs, and recommended a long-term JUCE port for a more modern cross-platform foundation.

"I've long wanted to have the controls for the 3 voices of the SID laid out like this, MiniMoog style.
MIDISID can do many things, but you're working with a screen and four buttons/knobs. As people have told me, "no-one likes menu diving".I'm calling this the physical control surface. It gives accessible physical controls for most if not all of the things that you can do using MIDISID.
Note:
This doens't contain the SIDs or drive them directly. It doesn't include the MIDISID It is a separate control panel.
There's nothing here that you can't do on the MIDISID already but it makes it so much easier to design sounds when you have knobs and swithes in easy reach.
There's nothing here that you can't do already with a configurable MIDI controller of your choice. MIDISID has long had a list of CC numbers.
Communication is one-way. So this won't necessarily reflect changes that you make on the MIDISID itself
With all of that said, it gives you easy access to the filter, waveforms, envelope, pulse width modulation and advanced features like ring modulation, waveform sync, portamento, arpeggiation. Designing sounds has never been easier."

It all works fantastic, sounds amazing and looks good as well.. see pics for minor body wear etc.. nothing major, in fact this is one of the better JX3ps I have come across over the years. This synth sounds every bit as awesome as a Juno60 and although it does not have as many features as a Jupiter 6 I still feel that its every bit as awesome and every bit as elegant as the Jupiter 6. Also included is the new DT200 and proper connecting cable.
THIS JX3p has had the battery replaced! This synth was tech'd and given a good check up. This synth is good to go for years to come!"

VIVALDI - Autumn Part 1 on SIX (5) ARP Odysseys

"Been having a pop at Autumn Part 1 these last few days and this take I recorded (take 111!) has come out slightly 'dystopian' sounding and synthy. Have pushed the filters a bit more. There’s a bit of overdrive in places and some wobbly 'pitchy' stuff happening. But lots going on and lots of things to remember to do. Or not to do. This take here was only the 4th time I’d made it to the end, and the first and only without completely ballsing it up.
Odyssey #3 was briefly back in the fold last week and was ably handling the sub bass part all on it’s own, but it started going wrong again and has been taken back to the repair shop. So to cover that part here, I’m bringing in and out oscillator 2 on Odyssey #6, which is set to a square wave an octave down. I’d say a good 80 of those earlier takes that I mucked up were ruined by me forgetting to do this, or doing it badly, or at completely the wrong time. There’s a 'high jeopardy' patch change happening on Odyssey #1 too which I liked to get wrong, transitioning from a short filtery harmony part at the beginning to a long square wave lead line for the slow bit towards the end.
As before, I got the Midi parts online and processed them in Ableton Live. I combined and reduced them down from the 24 orchestral parts to the 5 here. Fixed up a few dodgy notes. Probably added a few of my own. Then I tempo matched to an orchestral performance of the piece, which is probably the fiddliest and most time consuming bit. There were a few more evenings messing with note lengths and refining the tempos further. So, I’ve been using Korg’s Odyssey plugins up to this point in the process, slouching on the sofa on my laptop, but the next step is to move into my little music room and to practice on the actual ones. Spent a couple more evenings working things out there and then a couple of days trying to film a good run through.
It’s certainly tricky trying to adjust each part as dynamically as I’d like when they’re all coming at me in one big terrifying lump. I’m not mixing or even EQ’ing afterwards so I’m battling to keep a good audible balance between the synths as I go. If I get too involved or too “two-handy” on a synth for too long, I’m neglecting the other four and I’ve missed 5 other things I wanted to do. So I’m relying quite a lot on the Decay slider in the envelope section, as it seems to offer a one-stop dynamic shop that I can adjust on two synths at the same time. I’ve modded all of the Odysseys to have a free-running LFOs also, so I can introduce a slow LFO to the filters to keep them shifting about on their own whilst I adjust something else elsewhere.
I have started re-recording these pieces 'properly', one Odyssey at a time, with view to putting them up somewhere for streaming or perhaps even pressing them onto vinyl. Would sound good on record I reckon. You reckon? And I have a whole shelf full of peculiar synthesizer albums from the 60’s and 70’s that it would be an honour to mingle with.
But hey, thank you so much, everyone who showed up and watched the last video. For all the views and subscriptions and above all, the kind and encouraging comments. That was nuts. I didn’t know you lot were coming! Absoutely amazing and thank you sincerely again.
Oh, to wrap up, here the Odysseys are going balanced out into a Behringer ADA-8200 Interface, which is optically connected into the Adat In of my UAD Apollo. They get their 5 channels of Midi note on, note off information down USB from Ableton Live which is in turn recording the audio coming back. I added some Hall Reverb from Arturia’s LX-24 but nothing has been EQ’d. It’s all how it comes out of the lovely boxes. I did however have a Limiter on the main channel, to put a bit of a lid on some of the more feisty bits.

Once you play one, you can recall countless sweet pads, strings, brass, basses, and leads. The 60 was simply essential in music production, and still is. There is nothing that comes close to it. Even the Juno 106 can't do exactly what a Juno 60 does. The tone is simply king.
This Juno 60 is in great working order. ALL sliders, buttons, knobs, jacks and keys work as they should. It was fully gone through by my analog synth tech. I also had him install a new battery as well as an easy battery replacement holder.. no more solder batteries : ) He also loaded some wicked cool custom patches. Cosmetics are very very good. There are typical lite scuffs and scratches around and about, but nothing major and these are to be expected for a 30 year old synth. But it really looks fantastic! See all pics for cosmetic details. Comes with the uber necessary Kenton Pro DCB dbc to MIDI converter."

There are typical lite scuffs and scratches around and about, but nothing major and these are to be expected for a 30 year old synth. But it really looks fantastic! See all pics for cosmetic details. Comes with the uber necessary Kenton Pro DCB dbc to MIDI converter."

Nothing fancy. Just pitch and pulse width modulation on two voices. It sounds nice for so little. Makes me think of a melancholy Commodore 64 Radiohead. I like how with no pulse width modulation it sounds basic and cute, then when you hit it with pulse width sweeps it's suddenly the trademark gnarly sound of the C64 📺🕹️❤️💚💙
With the board fixes and minor code tweaks at revision 3, it appears that everything works as it should. The module is complete 😊
Have verified it to work flawlessly with 6581 and 8580 SIDs. It also works perfectly with the Swinsid and Open source SID. I'd imagine an Armsid will work too.

Cosmetically- Nothing is ever mint in my opinion and this one is no exception. There are some imperfections here and there, but overall I think it looks excellent. All knobs have been replaced, it has new wood sides (walnut), and a new "Sequential Circuits" sticker.
Internally- Apart from any repairs, it's been completely disassembled and cleaned, all potentiometers and switches have been cleaned, it has two new octave switches, all electrolytic & tantalum capacitors replaced (including the power supply), the keyboard rebuilt with new bushings, the j-wires & buss-bar have been hand polished, and it has been fully calibrated. *This may be updated!"

In this hands-on walkthrough I build an entire track (strings, dubby stabs and thunderous bass) from nothing but short pulses of noise fed into its Karplus-Strong like resonators. If you want to know what the Razornator actually sounds like before you buy, this deep-dive demo is for you.
The Razornator packs 10 resonators (five stereo pairs), a resonant low-pass filter, +24dB of input gain, a built-in compressor and an envelope follower — all fully MIDI controllable. Originally a 1983 Karplus & Strong algorithm for plucked-string and percussive tones, Erica Synths and 112dB have turned it into a wildly flexible tone-generation and sound-mangling machine. Chromatic tuning of the resonating delay lines makes the effect particularly musical, because it allows for aligning them in chord-like intervals, while the built-in envelope follower adds dynamics to the processed signal. Featuring 12 parameters for detailed sound design, save/recall functions for all parameters, MIDI control over all parameters and a sleek aluminium case to match our lineup of compact desktop units, the Razornator will let your setup take flight in any live show, studio or sonic experiment.
The Razornator combines several well considered and tuned “modules” for stereo audio processing with the aim of altering the harmonic content of the incoming signal. The signal path starts with an audio GAIN STAGE that boosts signals up to +24dB (it can effectively act as an analogue overdrive), then the signal is fed through the lowpass FILTER with a RESONANCE control and after filter treatment it passes through five chromatically tuned DELAY-BASED RESONATORS that can be manually tuned or controlled by the ENVELOPE FOLLOWER. After the resonators, the signal is summed and limited by the COMPRESSOR, then mixed with the dry signal and passed through the EQUALIZER and finally is sent to BALANCED OUTPUT stage.
