Roland Introduces ZENOLOGY GX - Next-gen ZEN

Overview video upload by RolandChannel

"ZENOLOGY GX brings the full power of Roland’s ZEN-Core Synthesis System into GALAXIAS, giving you access to over 11,000 tones—from iconic vintage synths to cutting-edge hybrids. Explore the massive library of sounds or build your own from scratch using the same engine found in flagship instruments like FANTOM and JUPITER-X.

ZENOLOGY GX also includes a powerful browser to help you stay organized. Search, rate, and recall presets with ease. Each tone is built from up to four partials, each with its own oscillator, filter, amplifier, dual LFOs, and effects. Next-gen ZEN.

Seamlessly integrated into GALAXIAS, ZENOLOGY GX delivers over 11,000 genre-defining Roland sounds in one powerful instrument. Layer up to four instances with definable key ranges, sophisticated macro controls, per-layer effects, and creative tools like ARPS and CHORDS. Explore the vast collection of presets or craft your own using 23 authentic oscillator and filter models, over 7,000 PCM waveforms, 11 LFO shapes—including a versatile Step LFO for rhythmic movement—and 90+ effects. From studio to stage, ZENOLOGY GX puts limitless sonic potential at your fingertips.

Effectively awesome.

In addition to the formidable effects within each individual instrument, GALAXIAS gives you two insert effects per layer and two global send effects. Choose from the growing collection of authentic Roland and BOSS effects and take your sounds to new frontiers. You can also route layers to external outputs or channels in your DAW for further processing.

ROLAND SH-4d | PLUCK SYN BEATS Pattern / AL-DEMO SONG

video upload by Andro Lectric

"Small DEMO SONG with the SH-4d Synth

The Pattern "Syn Pluck Beats" is so fantastic.
I thought I'd just make a smart Song out of it,
without editing the Pattern.

Fading via REASON-DAW

You hear the direct AUDIO from the SH-4d.
Recording via USB directly with REASON.
Final little, smart Master with Wavelab.

Conclusion:
The Synth is fun straight away.
Kind of a reduced MC-707 - it's OK.
The Sounds can be edited more quickly directly.

Great Addition for AIRA-Link Fans... anyway.
Perfect for spontaneous jamming outside the Studio.

New 3rd Party Hidden Sysex Based ZEN-Core Editor-librarian for MC-101 and MC-707

video upload by Benedetto Schiavone

"ZEN-Core Sound Banks (222 tones) for all Roland Synthesizers, Piano, Groovebox, Wind-Instruments, Guitar Synth compatible with the ZEN-Core standard"

Available at: http://www.benis.it/cm/ZC_Editor/ben6...

Addtiional details in via Benedetto Schiavone:

"As is known, the two Roland grooveboxes do not officially support MIDI SysEX messages and there is no documentation relating to their implementation which is hidden

In reality, the MC-101/707 are able to receive and send such messages: they respond with a completely wrong addressing, with duplicate and incorrect data which however can be corrected and used by the software.

The editor-librarian, like the analogous versions for Fantom/0, AX-Edge and Jupiter-X/Xm, communicates in real-time and bidirectionally with the groovebox, using MIDI SysEx messages."

Bad Gear - Almost as GOOD as REBIRTH

video upload by AudioPilz

"Bad Gear - MC 707

Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. Roland instruments are the pinnacle of music technology: tones so awesome that they are still force-fed to music enjoyers decades after their creation, timeless design and a history of pushing forward innovation exactly where it’s needed while preserving their great heritage.

Today we are going to talk about MC-707. This OG groovebox for the 2020s comes with the third-best display to ever grace a Roland machine, their second-best modern take on the classic sounds and THE best method to sell more cloud subscriptions."

Vanderson plays - Shamen "Indica" - cover on Roland MC-707

video upload by ॐ Vanderson ॐ

"Yesterday, Saturday evening, I reached for my favorite album by Shamen - Hempton Manor. One of the great songs on it, is of course "Indica". I decided to have some fun and create a cover of this track using only the Roland MC-707 (not for the first time, because many years ago on YT I posted a short recording using only the Roland MC-808).
This time I approached it in more detail. Of course, it was difficult to convey this characteristic atmosphere of the mid-90s. But something came out of it :)
The whole thing was recorded by ear - I used only one sample from the original (the characteristic click) that accompanies the recording from the very beginning."
