GLEEMAN PENTAPHONIC + TASCAM 38 DEMO
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Here's another Gleeman Pentaphonic that was restored by the shop. We decided to kill two birds and put in another repair item, the Tascam 38 Reel to Reel 1/2" 8 Track Tape Machine. The audio output is recorded directly to tape. (Tascam 38 is for adam remnant, check out his music/Instagram @adamremnant)
There are only around 50 units ever manufactured by the Gleeman Brothers Al and Bob. Such a truly amazing sounding 5 voice polyphonic synthesizer. This five voice polyphonic synthesizer sounds very large in such a small package and is a hybrid of both analog/digital. Featuring a 300 note Polyphonic Sequencer, "Presetter" preset control switches, X+Y Joystick Pitch and Mod controller, and 100 programmable presets.
Visit my website or email for repairs and restorations for vintage synthesizers, drum machines, outboard gear, and tape machines."

Eventide Harmonizer H949 Demo with Roland JX3P + Fender Jaguar + Yamaha PM-1000
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Here's a wonderful piece of outboard gear restored by our shop...the Eventide Harmonizer H-949 Pitch Shifter. This demo is for Vartan who just purchased this unit.
The gear used on this video was a Roland JX3P Synthesizer, 1984 Fender Jaguar, Yamaha PM-1000, recorded straight into a Focusrite Clarett+ 8 Pre.
Intro 00:00-00:25
JX3P Sequence I: 00:26-05:06
JX3P 2 DCO Sequence : 05:07-05:56
Fender Jaguar Pitch Shifting: 05:57-08:12
Fender Jaguar Pitch/Rainbow Delays: 08:13-09:14
Fender Jaguar II : 09:15-10:10
H949 HOLD Function: 10:11-11:49
History on the H-949:
The Eventide H949 Harmonizer was a pitch-shifting and harmonizing device released in 1979-1984 that was a significant step forward in the development of these technologies:
-De-glitched pitch shifting: The H949 was the first pitch-changing device to analyze audio in real-time and avoid audible glitches.
-MicroPitch: This feature used a proprietary modulation technique to precisely control small pitch shifts.
-Multiple harmonies: The H949 could create up to five simultaneous harmonies using multiple pitch-shifting algorithms.
-Digital display: The H949 had a digital display that made it easier to adjust parameters than its predecessor, the H910.
-Randomized delay: The H949 included a randomized delay feature.
-Reversed delays: The H949 included a reversed delay feature.
-Flanging: The H949 included a flange feature.
-Real-time tuning: The H949's features made real-time tuning possible, which was long before Autotune.
-Double-tracking emulation: The H949's features made double-tracking emulation possible.
This Eventide H-949 was overhauled/restored by our shop here in Columbus, Ohio. Please visit us on our website, if you have a broken Harmonizer, or vintage synthesizer, drum machine, tape machine or other vintage outboard gear.

OCTAVE CAT SRM I DEMO FOR MATT
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"On Christmas Eve, a demo was released highlighting the wonderful, odd, and charismatic Vintage Synthesizer made by Octave Electronics, the CAT SRM (1978).
This crazy CAT SRM synthesizer packs quite a lot into it's package, and can be dialed up to make sweet, calm Cat sounds, or very weird Sci-Fi and Noise sounds.
This CAT SRM was just repaired and restored by our shop Synth Tailor Electronics, this video demo is for Matt from Sensorium Studios.
History on Octave Electronics (later Octave Plateau) CAT SRM:
In 1978 Octave upgraded the Cat to the "Series Revised Model "(aka SRM). This added several improvements, including an SSM2040 VCF, an LFO delay and a pedal input jack for offsetting the VCO1 frequency. The main improvement was the keyboard interface circuitry which included sample and hold circuits for both of the control voltages generated by the keyboard. On most duophonic synths of the era, there was only one sample and hold dedicated to the keyboard, so when playing duophonically, when the keys were released, the secondary control voltage would jump to the primary voltage, meaning that it was impossible to get duophonic notes in the envelope release phase. The Cat SRM would hold both control voltages, so a two-note chord would continue to sound as a chord through the release phase. This was an unusual feature for an analog duophonic keyboard and quite an improvement over competing designs.
If you have a vintage synthesizer, drum machine, piece of rare studio equipment, outboard gear or tape machine...please reach out via our website to send it in for repairs and restoration. Were based out of Columbus, Ohio and our website is: www.synthtailorelectronics.com"

OBERHEIM OB-Xa (x2 Collector vs Player Grade Demo)
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Here's two very different looking Oberheim OBXA's that just had full restorations at Synth Tailor Electronics. One is in very minty "Collector's Grade" cosmetic condition, and the second one had a very poor life on the road. Surprisingly, the mint OBXa landed in the shop with a lot more problems than the player grade OBXa.
0:00 Intro
0:38 Collector Grade OB-Xa
20:10 Player Grade OB-Xa
Both units had major restorations to each including: Power Supply Rebuild, Voice Cards/Tray Restorations, Left Hand Controller Rebuild, Upper/Lower Motherboard rebuild, and a Full Calibration/tuning. We installed Bourns 25 turn high quality trimmers on the voice cards (x6 per voice card: PW, Initial Frequency, Volts Per Octave.) This is critical to install high quality trimmers in these to have stable tuning!
Surprisingly, me personally liked how the less desirable cosmetic unit sounded, compared to the nicer cosmetic unit. Both were early revision/ both different revision OBXa's, but both sound great. These truly are such an iconic 1980s Analog Synthesizer designed by the great Tom Oberheim.
If you have a broken Oberheim OBXa or any other vintage synthesizer, drum machine, outboard gear, or rare obscure gear that needs repaired/restored, please reach out on our website contact form or email."

FENDER CHROMA POLARIS - RESTORED BY SYNTH TAILOR ELECTRONICS
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Fender Chroma Polaris six voice synthesizer restored and repaired by Synth Tailor Electronics in Columbus, Ohio. If you have a broken Chroma Polaris or any vintage synthesizer, drum machine, outboard gear, or rare obscure gear that needs repaired/restored, please reach out on our website contact form or email.
The Fender Chroma Polaris is an interesting synth, made by CBS Fender after they took over ARP instruments. It was marketed as a smaller hybrid version of the Rhodes Chroma, and featured more slide potentiometers with the same style membrane buttons as the Rhodes Chroma. The synth has a remarkably pleasant sound and features dual oscillators, dual envelope generators, a smooth analog filter, and generous modulation routings.
The membrane buttons are less than reliable, and along with its rather heavy weight, probably kept the Polaris from gaining wide spread popularity.
It features Curtis Electromusic Specialties chips (CEM3372, CEM3374) which is found on other vintage synthesizers from that era including: Akai AX80/VX600, Oberheim Xpander/Matrix 12, Sequential Prophet 600/Prophet T8, and Simmons Drums."

SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS PROPHET 600 GLIGLI DEMO
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Here's a Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 that had lots of issues when it arrived at the shop! It was severely out of tune, had lots of battery corrosion/leakage on one part of the CPU board. Lots of love went into restoring the CPU board, Membrane/Front Panel pot boards (every slide switch was replaced due to corrosion.)
After a full restoration we installed the GLIGLI mod, and flashed/sent new GLIGLI presets to the Prophet 600. These synths easily get looked over, but they sound incredible.
This P600 was fitted with Techs Mechs Vintage Synth FATAR keybed and Prophet 5 style knob caps.
The P600 is hooked up to Death BY Audio's 'ROOMS' Reverb pedal straight into an interface!"

ROLAND SH 101 (SERIAL NO. 00002) DEMO
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Here's a little demo on what I believe to be the second made Roland SH-101 Red monosynth. If you look at the serial number it is: #00002, which indicates to me that it's the 2nd synth in the production line.
Besides, the cool history from the owner, the SH-101 packs a lot in such a small package! It has a 3 Waveforms, PWM, LFO, Sequencer, Arpeggiator, and lots of CV input/output controls. It was made very popular in the 1990s for 'House Music'
This SH-101 needed the Power supply rebuilt, the sliders replaced, full calibration/tuning, power switch replacement and the keybed cleaned/rebuilt. Enjoy the video! Thanks for watching!"

ROLAND JUPITER 6 DEMO
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Here is a full demo on the Roland Jupiter 6 Polyphonic synthesizer. This unit belongs to Thane Evans, and it over-went a pretty major surgery to get it back to good health. History on the Jupiter 6:
Work done on this Jupiter 6:
-Main issues found were CPU locking up/causing intermittent failures when doing normal operations (moving sliders/random glitchy lights)
-Unit wouldn't accept the Cassette factory presets wav file upload, and would cause unit to crash/freeze.
-Battery Replacement + Socket
-Replaced Corrupt RAM chip (TC5517APL)
-Replaced heavily corroded/faulty Slide Potentiometers/Pots on both Panel boards. Unit feels great now and doesn't jump around the values causing lockups on the CPU.
-Replaced electrolytic capacitors that were out of spec/leaking on both voice boards. (x71 total throughout entire synth)
-Rebuilt Power Supply, hit cold solder joints on connectors and voltage regulators, through out entire synth
-Full Calibration to factory specs, tuning and D/A calibrations
-Upgraded Firmware to latest V6 firmware (previous firmware/eprom was V2)
-Burned 2732A Eprom and installed factory presets
-Hit cold/cracked solder joints throughout all connectors for better reliability in future
-Burned in unit for 48 hours, tested all functions-sounds great now!"

OBERHEIM FOUR VOICE FVS-1 (Restored by Synth Tailor Electronics)
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Here's the Oberheim FVS Four Voice that just underwent a very lengthy overhaul and complete restoration. We ended up spending months on a very faulty programmer, but in the end it turned out excellent! Portamento modification was implemented, to have a way longer portamento rise time.
The Oberheim Four Voice was the first commercially available polyphonic synthesizer that came out in 1975. By utilizing multiple SEMs (Synthesizer Expander Modules) and a digital scanning keyboard, this instrument allowed the musician to play up to four keys at a time, where each key controlled a complete, true analog synthesizer. Each voice was completely independent and could be programmed to have the same setting or different settings, which allowed creation of massive, realistic orchestral sounds.
The assignment of key depressions to SEM voices was controlled by selecting different modes in the keyboard electronics section of the instrument. This allowed both polyphonic operation, as well as having all SEMs play together in unison. Another unique feature of the keyboard electronics was the ability to select true, polyphonic portamento. To enhance the musician's ability to change the overall sound of the instrument, the patented Polyphonic Synthesizer Programmer was also available. Additional features included the ability to control the output level and left-to-right panning of each SEM in order to create a powerful stereo sound field, and cassette interface for storing different settings."

OBERHEIM TWO VOICE (1975) + Roland RE-201 Space Echo
video upload by Synth Tailor Electronics
"Oberheim Two Voice made by the wonderful Oberheim Electronics. To me, the Two Voice/SEM is the my favorite synthesizer (and also the FVS/EVS system!)
This TVS is owned by a cool client of mine Matt Fiske from Sensorium Studios. This TVS is a prime example, being a very minty condition/restored Two Voice. I originally restored this one a few years back, and here it is making the sinister filter sweeps/sounds. The onboard mini sequencer, is such an amazing concept and I’ve spent hours just making a sequence, then soloing on top with the second SEM."
