Future Music March 1997 CD demoed Syntecno TeeBee & Freebase FB383. I binaurally combined them here
video upload by Edward Jones
"The Freebase fb383 and the Syntecno teebee were demonstrated on Future Music's March 1997 Demo CD. I was a subscriber at the time.
I always enjoyed the demos, and I have played some of these riffs demonstrating sounds ever since then.
The demos were recorded from the same MIDI information, more or less, so they were pretty close to each other. Slightly out of time, one demo had an extra loop of one sequence which I chopped of.
Of course, this is best listened to with headphones, as I panned each track hard left and right.
I found a copy of the CD cleaning up recently, and wondered "what if I lined up these two demos against each other?"
Through the power of REAPER, and images stolen from Matrixsynth listings..... Here we are!"

Casio MT-40 through Oberheim Phasor P-100
video upload by Edward Jones
via this eBay listing
Pics of the inside below.

"Genuine 1974/5 early production Oberheim Phasor aka Maestro Mini-Phase.
This is legitimately a piece of guitar pedal history!
IC and Pot values date this to Late 74. IC dates are 18th and 23rd week of 1974. Pot 38th week 1974.
All original, all parts functioning.
All capacitors are working as intended, so none have been changed.
Designed by legendary Tom Oberheim.
While it's not the first phaser to ever hit the shelves, the Maestro Mini-Phase and this Phasor are the firs "Pedal" format phaser in the form factor we all know and love.
This is a buffered bypass pedal.
Anyone claiming theirs is True Bypass has either modified it, or misunderstands true bypass and are just using it as a buzzword.
I included the schematic for you.
This has seen little use it has not been used for the last 25 years as it was in storage.
The owner had it stores in a box of miscellaneous equipment, which was mislabled.
Some battery leakage as shown, but the battery holder is not adjacent to PCB so no functional damage occurred.
I haven't attempted to remediate the damage as I don't want to damage the paint."

Yamaha ED20 Sample Pack Demo - Lovingly recorded from a rare drum pad synthesizer
video upload by Edward Jones
"You can buy a sample pack of all sounds recorded dry and lowest pitch from the unit. The samples are possibly 12 bit internally. I cannot work out how to open up the machine without destroying it (hence that small tear on the drum head)/
https://loscha.bandcamp.com/album/yam...
Each sample has been normalized. The actual sample playback volumes on the machine were erratic. They were triggered using the PAD IN terminal at the back and triggered from the DAW so the samples would be time aligned and sightly easier to chop."

Korg MS-04 Modulation Pedal
Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by Edward Jones
via this eBay listing
Pics of the inside below.
"For sale we have the very rare Korg MS-04!
These don’t come up for sale very often.
This is a modulation expression pedal.
It features an LFO (Triangle or Square), a noise generator, and a "bender" type control voltage output, controlled by this sturdy foot switch.
The pedal controls the magnitude of the CV output of the LFO, not the frequency of the LFO.
There is an upward facing LED on the pedal body that shows you the speed of the LFO.
This is in honest to goodness as new condition. The internal date stamp indicated manufacture to be the 6th week of 1980 (which matches the manufacturing period).
There is some light dust on the pedal after being in storage for 20 years, and I haven't cleaned it off. The only blemish is on the front plate indicating model number, where a price tag was placed in the late 1990s when it was purchased by the current owner. I haven't attempted to de-goo it.
One side appears to still have the original protective plastic on it.
All components are original! The tested capacitors have held their values, and the pots were all clean. It has been stored with no batteries inside, and the battery bay, as you can see, is clean as a whistle."

weird reface DX sounds - ultra low tunings make clicks
video upload by Edward Jones
"I open with a little bit of a tribute to a well known song which I will not name.
I mean, um, a pattern of either notes followed by a pattern of 32nd notes.
PHEW.}}}} Almost got a little crazy there!!!
Then I run some lo frequency clicks into the effects units.
I don't have my audio interface with me, so I couldn't do a line recording.
Reface has a USB connection, but it's just for MIDI note and Data backup purposes.
Yamaha deigned not to provide us with Audio over USB, even though it would have cost them pennies to do so.
I intend to do that as I want to show an examination of the Feedback waveforms, and how they're not quite the same as other FM Feedback waveforms.
It certainly doesn't have that instability that the FB-01 has when you solo Operator 4 in feedback mode."

Loscha Plays - Artec "Octave Drive" SE-OCT OTA Boss OC-2 style circuit with added DIRTY DRIVE mode.
video upload by Edward Jones
Wait for it.
"I forgot to adjust the tiny trimmer inside the unit! D'Oh!
Upon reflection, it is probably a drive control, as the knob on front panel just adds in the volume of the distorted sound, not the quality of the distortion."

Burford Reefer "Coral Sitar" Emulator (really a Green Ringer) on a Casio AT-40 Arabic Keyboard
video upload by Edward Jones
"The rectifying octave up of the Green Ringer style circuit sounds frankly amazing on the analogue sine-based drum tones that the drums on AT-40. We were not expecting it to sound so cool. We were in "Flavour Country".
If you want this sound on your own tracks, I highly recommend 'Gringer' by Chris from Airwindows. He's made a model of the rectifying part of the circuit. To get the full 'Reefer' experience, place a warm overdrive on the way into Gringer to emulate the first stage of the Reefer pedal.

Loscha Opens up a Pollard Syndrum Quad!
video upload by Edward Jones
"This is going to be a long restoration!
The drum triggers go into the unit on a five pin Latched XLR, not a DIN as I said in the video.
The power supply is in an external box that has a mains transformer, and a voltage regulator, only to have it regulated again inside.
twice.
The MM5837 appears to be a no gp (I have a spare) but the real issue is that the faders and switches are all corroded and jumpy.
I did end up taking the panel board off, and the faders seem to be like the contemporary ARP kind. Plastic body, moving wiper body."

Rare Novation MidiCon - The Prototype for the MM10! Which later turned into the Bass Station
video upload by Edward Jones
"This is the MidiCon -- a controller keyboard that 'never went into production'. However, I am here in Melbourne, and I have one.
This turned into the MM10, the controller for the Yamaha QY10 and QY20.
The same chassis turned into the Bass Station.
A very rare controller keyboard pre-dated the MM10, which begat the BassStation.
The main CPU has custom markings!

Loscha presses Play: Yamaha PSS-270 Demo 𝓑𝓲𝓵𝓵𝔂 𝓙𝓸𝓮𝓵 𝓙𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓦𝓪𝔂 𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓐𝓻𝓮 has VERY weird instruments
video upload by Edward Jones
"The Yamaha PSS-270 is from the FM Synthesis line of keyboards.
The audio generation is handled by the YM2413 OPLL chip.
The OPLL is very well documented. Please look here for more information - https://www.smspower.org/Development/...
This chip has direct audio out, no DAC required.
One output is the Main voice out, and the other is the Percussion out.
On this unit, the Percussion and Main are both routed through the chorus unit. The chrous is MN3102 and MN3206, controlled by a fixed LFO. There is no feedback on the chorus. This could be added for a much more flangier effect."
