Roland JV-1080, a '90s dream synth? First track with this vintage rompler | Dark, Moody, Cinematic

video upload by Electronic Tiger

"In a comment under another video @Iofflight78 mentioned that the Roland JV-1080 hardware sampler/rompler from 1994 might be a good it for me and my music. And boy, were they right! This is the first track I made with the synth. Basically just checking out some of the presets on this box. Creating a dark, moody, leaning towards epic piece of music. Well, striving to be epic. You can be the judge on whether or not I achieved that."

Behringer K-2: Classical Vintage Patches. No Talk Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"Analog Classics is a collection of 50 patches: 18 Leads, 16 Basses, 16 Plucks for the semi-modular synthesizer Behringer K-2.

It includes famous sounds that are found in many electronic tracks, from vintage to modern, musical solo timbres; basses that will fit into any track or performance.

💈 The patches will add uniqueness to your music, featuring the characteristic sound introduced by the Behringer K-2.

🖲 Plucks are excellent for use with arpeggiators or sequencers. In most examples of this category, I utilize an arpeggiator. K-2 doesn’t have a built in arp/seq, but you may integrate your preferred arpeggiators or sequencers from your DAW or MIDI controller.

📩 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/k-2-...

📻 The presets are suitable for a variety of genres, including: ambient, electronica, IDM, deep, techno, house, progressive, trance, lounge, downtempo, pop, chill out, new age, cinematic, breaks, jungle, drum and bass, dub and others.

📚 The soundset is presented in the form of PDF-Document. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn a lot about the synth and discover its true depth.

🎛 To recreate these patches, you will need up to 2 patch cords.
There are audio examples of all patches inside the folder with the soundset.

Drums and pads from the video demo are not included into the soundset."

Electrypnose | Time to Jam | Stop Motion Clip

video upload by Electrypnose

"Stop Motion animated movie created by Hannah Scott, Music by Electrypnose.

99% of the sounds are from the real gears, for the music and for the sound design.
Exceptions : knuckles cracks, tiger roar, and windows XP bootup ;)

electrypnose.com

soundcloud.com/electrypnose"

This one is in via supporting member, Ray Ewan, who had the following to say about it:

"Hi, there! I came across this really amazing stop-motion animation done by the friend(partner?) of an electronic music producer called Electrypose who provides the soundtrack. The animation is a depiction of him producing music in his studio and eventually the animator joins him dancing to his music.

It’s exceptionally well done with all kinds of identifiable synth and effects gear recreated in miniature, and he states that 99% of the sounds are from the actual gear depicted in the animation. Then there’s a behind-the-scenes montage at the end. It’s really very sweet.

I thought with all the crap going in the world, a little lightheartedness might be welcome – along with some great electronic music."

Indeed.

The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger | Devil You Know | MOOG SOUND LAB

Published on May 13, 2015 Moog Music Inc

"The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (The GOASTT) re-imagine 'The Devil You Know' from the album Midnight Sun. Upon entering the Moog Sound Lab, the band traded in their guitars and acoustic instruments for an array of analog synthesizers. Sean Lennon commands a Sub 37 while Charlotte Kemp Muhl carries the bass on a Sub Phatty. Both singers' voices are affected with a pair of Moog 500 Series Analog Delays. Tim Kuhl drives the rhythm section via electronic drum triggers controlling 6x Minimoog Voyager RMEs. Robbie Mangano performs with an Electric Blue Minimoog Voyager and Jared Samuel rounds out the track with a second Sub 37."

Mego Muson Synthesizer toy art NEUTRA

via this auction

"Hi there. My name is Max Neutra. I am an artist in Los Angeles. Thanks for checking out the shop.

What we have here is a 10"x10" painting of a Mego Muson Synthesizer. In my opinion, this is the holy grail of vintage music toys. I was lucky enough to find one years ago before the ebay market seized up on these. You can physically rearrange the colored block in what I would call a sequencer, creating what the box says are "the strangest sounds in the galaxy".

This painting was originally created for a solo show / record release party in Hollywood. It sold, but in the end the buyer traded it back towards more expensive work. Now I offer it to you!

Before I started painting, I made electronic music for eight years. I was obsessed with obscure noise making devices and put together a hearty collection through ebay. Some of my pieces have even made it into the quintessential collection at miniorgan.com! I used these toys as well as other more professional devices to put together music that I considered funky electro ( Think Kraftwerk, Devo, Thomas Dolby, Yello, etc.). Suddenly painting took over about 5 years ago and the music making was put aside, but I recently made a final push and released my first album. Ten years in the making! The album is called Automation Addiction and can be purchased through itunes, amazon, beatport, etc.

Here is a list of equipment I used on the album:
Muson Synthesizer
Remco Sound fx machine
Bee Gees Rhythm Machine
General Electric Tote-a-tune
Texas Instruments Speak & Music
Mattel Electronic Connection
Panasonic r-1088
Tyco Hotkeyz
Waddingtons Compute-A-Tune
Science Fair Electronic Organ Kit
Synsonics drums

Bob Moog Foundation To Raffle Lou Reed's Moog Guitar

"March 8, 2010

Asheville, NC --- The Bob Moog Foundation announces a once in a lifetime raffle opportunity to begin Tuesday March 9, 2010 at 12pm (EST). The Foundation will be selling $50 raffle tickets for a chance to win one of Lou Reed's Moog Guitars. Only 200 tickets will be made available. Participants can purchase raffle tickets online at the Foundation's online store http://moogfoundation.org/shop. The raffle will close when the 200 tickets have been sold and a winner will be chosen by an automated random selector and notified via email. All proceeds go to benefit the programs of the Bob Moog Foundation. Employees and volunteers of Moog Music, the Bob Moog Foundation and Lou Reed are not eligible to participate in the auction.

Moog Music Inc., the company which carries on the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog through its innovative instruments, is donating the Paul Vo Collector Edition (1 of only 300) Moog Guitar, serial #005, signed and played by Lou Reed. The strikingly beautiful instrument is a maple top Tiger Eye Flame with an ash body, maple neck and ebony fret board. Reed has signed the front of the guitar; his labels for the guitar's controls remain on the instrument as well as the brackets for his guitar strap.

Lou Reed, best known as the former guitarist, vocalist and principle songwriter for the experimental rock band Velvet Underground, has enjoyed a prolific career as a solo guitarist known for the pioneering of many sound effects including distortion, high volume feedback and nonstandard tunings. His love affair with the innovative Moog Guitar began early, as he played the instrument in its prototype phase. Reed experiences the Moog Guitar for the first time in this YouTube video. Upon hearing the guitar for the first time, Reed exclaimed “This is amazing....this opens the door”. Reed performed on the Moog Guitar on the David Lettermen Show in the fall of 2008.

Mike Adams, President of Moog Music, states “Our thanks to Lou Reed, who experienced the Moog Guitar in its earliest evolution and inspired us to continue our development efforts. Gratefully, the proceeds from this raffle will support the Bob Moog Foundation. Both the Bob Moog Foundation and Moog Music serve to honor the genius of Bob Moog.”

Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation acknowledges “The Bob Moog Foundation is deeply grateful for the support of Lou Reed and Moog Music. The funds raised from this raffle will be of great assistance in expanding our Student Outreach Program, the program in which we bring Moog instruments in to the schools and teach children the science behind the sounds of electronic music. This program, even in its infant stages, has opened children's minds and engaged their spirits to explore the extensive sonic possibilities that Moog instruments offer.”

Moog Music and its customers carry on the legacy of Bob Moog. Moog designs and manufactures electronic musical instruments, including Little Phatty® and Minimoog® Voyager® synthesizers, Moogerfooger® effects modules, Etherwave® theremins and The Moog Guitar. Founded by Bob Moog, Moog Music designs and manufactures its products in Asheville, N.C. www.moogmusic.com

The Bob Moog Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to carry on the legacy of Bob Moog through educating and inspiring children and adults through the power and possibilities of electronic music and through the intersection of science, music and innovation. The foundation has three main projects: preserving and protecting Bob Moog's archives, creating a Student Outreach Program that brings electronic music into the schools, and its hallmark project, the creation of a Moogseum in Asheville, NC, for which it was recently awarded a $600,000 lead grant by the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority. Killing a Machinedrum-loop with Metaphysical Function

YouTube via salzmanufaktur
"Metaphysical Function was the most stunning app in Native Instruments legendary "Electronic Instruments2XT" bundle. This bundle also contains the ultra cool drum sampler named "Krypt" and "Limelight" as well.

Unfortunately this bundle is out of sale and discontinued. You can check out the specs here:
http://www.native-instruments.com/ind...

I don't know if these tools are working on OS X Leo or Vista. So I'm sticking with my good ol' G5 Powermac to keep them running on Tiger."

Circuit bent mechanical Furby sequencer linked to Korg SQ-10

YouTube via thenervoussquirrel.

Up for auction here.

"One of a new batch of four Furby Gurdies. This model allows you to program your own rhythms by rearranging screws inserted into the four wheels.

There is also a 'trigger out' socket, which has been used in the last section of the video to operate an old sequencer and synthesiser.

More details here"

via nervoussquirrel on the forum.
"Sometime prior to the 11th century A.D. a strange hand-cranked instrument called the hurdy gurdy appeared on the scene in Western Europe, drifting in and out of fashion but remaining in production to this day. In 1998 Tiger Electronics produced a scary children's toy called the Furby, and sold over 40 million of them in three years.

This auction is for the strange and terrible result of combining both of these phenomena - this is a rare chance to own your own Furby Gurdy!

This instrument involves four modified Furby toys that can be made to produce sound in a sequence by winding a handle. Each Furby has been 'circuit bent', which is a process that involves adding connections to the original electronic circuit board to create interesting new sounds.

When the handwheel is turned, four wheels operate four switches in a sequence. The sequence pattern is created by adding or removing screws from the 12 holes around the circumference of the wheels. Each of the four switches operated by turning the handwheel correspond to a Furby, causing it to make a sound as the screwheads pass.

Each Furby has six controls on the panel underneath it:

(1) Mute - turns off an individual Furby's sound
(2) Loop hold - captures a short loop of audio while a Furby is speaking
(3) Loop momentarily - useful for searching for a good sound before using 'Loop hold' to keep the sound
(4) Microswitch mode select - Switches between audio being produced by either the screwheads on the wheels or the gaps between the screwheads
(5) Crash - creates a stream of glitches and garbled Furby speech, random bleeps, crunches and hisses
(6) Reset - used to restore good health after the crash function

There is a main audio output socket on the front (1/4 inch jack), as well as four individual outputs on the rear of the unit.

There is also a socket on the rear of the unit that allows the switch under the fourth wheel to be used by an external device. Plugging a jack lead into this socket disconnects the fourth Furby and allows other devices to be triggered in time to the winding of the handwheel. In the video I have connected this socket to the step input of a Korg SQ-10 sequencer, so that the sequencer advances by one note every time a screwhead passes the switch.

There were four of these Furby Gurdies made - this auction is for one of the last two, serial number 00075.

High-quality switches and components have been used throughout, and build quality/soldering etc. is all very good. The casing is made of folded aluminium sheet and painted MDF, and the handwheel is solid machined aluminium. The rotating shaft has been mounted on bearings to ensure many years of lasting Gurdy goodness."
