ADDAC 511 Stochastic Voltage Generator
video upload by Cinematic Laboratory
"ADDAC has added a really promising voltage generator to the line-up, which is labelled 'stochastic'. There are roughly three levels of randomness covered by the module. The first is traditional random voltage we know from sample and hold circuits. Then there's aleatoric, which is more controlled e.g. by using a scale and time signature variations. Aleatoric is about throwing dice, but these are used to generate variations in a stream of scaled notes. The final mode is 'stochastic' where a composition is created by setting rules and boundaries that would sculpt the composition. This can go as far as introducing chances of individual notes, scale changes and key changes, but also includes generation of expressions and envelopes. While this is still unnatural, it mimics a performance of a natural player.
The 511 has four channels with gate/CV outs, there's an internal clock, but are four external clocks to drive all kinds of events. You have eight CV inputs to add external influences and there are three logic outputs which will support conditional boolean events, counters and clocks. This is simply not a module I can explain in 20 minutes and a 60+ page manual is inevitable.
Compared to competitive modules like the SIG and the Melodicer, the 511 is prepared to design first, and play later. The others are more for live improvising with generative parameters, where the 511 lets you prepare the parameters with three states per preset, and each preset can be a movement in your performance. It all sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but IMHO the 511 is currently the most powerful generative module in eurorack.
I also need to say that there's a LOT of code involved. There's a menu per button approach, but still, there are a lot of buttons. This also applies to the SIG and honestly it could use a menu. I still haven't figured out the SIG. Melodicer is super easy, but it can only generate one CV/GATE pair.
Since it's also brand new, there may be updates. If you don't have the patience of an early adopter, I'd recommend sitting this one out."

Buchla & Friends: VERMONA Eurorack Demo Setup
video upload by vermonagear
"Join us as we showcase our Eurorack setup at the *2025 Buchla & Friends event in Los Angeles on January 25 and 26*. This setup features most of our current modules, including the meloDICER and our latest addition, BASS|DRUM.
For this demonstration, we patched a simple subtractive voice using the uniCYCLE oscillator, twinVCFilter, and twinVCAmp. Two channels of fourMative CONTOURS create an Attack-Decay envelope to modulate the filter and VCA. A second uniCYCLE serves as the modulation source, controlling the frequency of the first oscillator.
No surprises here: the BASS|DRUM module delivers powerful bass drum sounds.
The twinCUSSION+ module handles additional percussion duties. Its first channel is used for various percussive elements, while the second acts as a snare drum. We also use its noise generator, combined with the second channels of twinVCFilter and twinVCAmp, to produce hi-hat sounds.
All sequencing is handled by the meloDICER for melodies and the randomRHYTHM module for rhythm parts. We added effects using Logic Pro for an extra layer of depth.

VERMONA BASSDRUM modular sessions
"Welcome to the third and final part of our VERMONA BASS|DRUM modular session! π️
In this video, we take things up a notch by introducing a second BASS|DRUM module into our patch for some melodic explorations. The module is sequenced by the meloDICER and further shaped with the dynamic power of fourMative CONTOURS and *fourMULATOR*. Expect a performance filled with randomness and creativity.
Enjoying the video? Show your support by giving it a like! π Have questions about the setup or the modules? Drop them in the comments—we’d love to hear from you.

meloDICER & MEX3 - individual MIDI channels
video upload by vermonagear
"Next month (December 2024), we’re releasing a new firmware update for the *meloDICER*. While it includes some minor improvements, the highlight is the ability to set an individual MIDI channel per voice. Translation? You can now send up to three melodies simultaneously to three different synthesizers using the *MEX3*.
In this demonstration, we’re using two *Mono Lancet ’15*s and a @1010music Fireball:
The synth on the right kicks things off with a deep bass sound, blending sawtooth on oscillator 1 with some noise.
The red nanobox? It’s taking care of a string-like sound.
And the Mono Lancet ’15 on the left is playing a classic sawtooth patch.
All three synths are polished with delay and reverb effects from Logic Pro, just to give things that extra shimmer.
So, what do you think about this new feature? Is it something you see yourself using often, or just another reason to stay up all night making music? Let us know in the comments—we’d love to hear your thoughts!"

VERMONA eurorack Session With BASS-DRUM Modules & mode
video upload by vermonagear
"Here is our Eurorack demo setup for @RomaModulare. The Italian modular and synth event takes place on September 27th and 28th.
Here is a patch we made with the 2 × 104 HP modular system. We installed two of the upcoming BASS-DRUM modules as well as meloDICER for melody generation and fourMULATOR and randomRHYTHM for modulation and rhythm parts.
There’s also a uniCYCLE oscillator, a twinVCFilter and a twinVCAmp for creating bass lines.
Enjoy this little performance and if you’re in Rome, don’t hesitate to stop by at Roma Modulare and say hello. We are looking forward to beautiful soundscapes, great conversations, meeting old friends and making new ones!

"Here we have a small setup consisting of a Mono Lancet ’15 as the sole sound source, a meloDICER with MEX3 as sequencer and @Ableton Live for Loop recordings.
We prepared four tracks in Live to record various synth parts in a live session. We’re setting up all Mono Lancet ’15 sounds on the fly and continuously change parameters on meloDICER for generating different patterns for each track.
All the effects that you hear come directly from Live (delays with a little bit of reverb). The meloDICER is synced through the MEX3 companion module via MIDI clock to Live.
We recommend the use of headphones or good speakers for the full sound experience"

"ALGO's four oscillators can be configured in series or parallel combinations, to create Complex FM or additive sound textures.
A unique Algorithm Display indicates the signal flow from one oscillator to another - easy to understand FM with pretty twinkly lights !
Each oscillator has controls for Level and Frequency, allowing easy adjustment of FM timbres, no menu diving snorkels needed.
Modulation inputs for Frequency or Level for each oscillator - patch in a couple of Envelopes, and you have an instant FM synth voice.
Bored of Sine waves ? A generous Wave Warp control bends things through Triangle to Pulse wave and back again.
Wave Warp can be applied to Carrier, Modulator or both types of oscillator.
For the more discerning mangler, Wave Folding is also available in three delicious flavours; Symmetric, Asymmetric and Soft Clip !
A Global Detune spread control with CV input is great for creating Netflix apocalypse drones that descend into the abys.
Lastly an onboard Stereo Chorus can add a vivacious 1980's shimmer to all your FM creations.
Oh, nearly forgot. It's Stereo !"
