"This is a unique opportunity to buy a monster synth, that is also a piece of synth pop history. Two cabinets plus the original keyboard, all lids, interconnection cables and original manual included. The first cabinet is a Roland System-700 Lab is one of the rarest and most sought-after modular synthesizers ever built. Introduced in 1976 as part of Roland’s legendary System-700 series, the Lab version was designed as a compact, self-contained modular laboratory for advanced sound design, research, and education — but with the same discrete analog circuitry, massive sound, and build quality as the full studio system.

This one was owned by Bill Vorn, keyboardist of the synth-pop band Rational Youth, used in the following albums dated 1981 to 1983 : Rational Youth, Saturdays in Silesia, City of Night and I want to see the light, as reported in the certification signed by Bill Vorn himself, provided in the item. The second one is another original SYS 700 one, connected and internally cabled to the main one by means of the original cable, with the super rare modules that you see in the picture: an additional, multimode filter, the great output module and… a professionally custom module with a perfect ARP 2600 VCF clone… plus other stuff.

The HEAD BANGER (a collaboration between SetonixSynth and Robots Are Red) gives the modular-based metalhead total control over a wide range of tone parameters: a three-band EQ with 20dB of boost/cut per band, Distortion amount, plus bass boost (Doom) and soft limiting (Crush) switches. "The 1966 Johnson Intonation Trainer is a rare and intriguing instrument developed by the E.F. Johnson Company of Waseca, Minnesota. One of the standout characteristics of the Johnson Intonation Trainer is its full polyphony, allowing all 37 keys to be played simultaneously. "One of only 2 known Vectras with an early Black/Gold faceplate which was never put into production. No Black Gold keyboards were ever made as far as I know. These were prototypes. This unit is fully working with all mods and upgrades including a firmware upgrade to version 2. Includes box, packing, manuals, and Universal power supply. The other known unit has purple heartwood endcaps and ALSO features a 001 serial number. These are the only units like this known to exist. Will be double boxed for safe delivery worldwide.

The Vectra is a unique hybrid synthesizer with a flexible architecture that allows many different forms of synthesis to be realized. It’s the best of both worlds… The Vectra utilizes digital oscillators, ring modulators, noise sources, vector mixer, LFO’s, complex envelopes, and modulation routings providing many capabilities that would be very difficult to produce with analog circuitry alone. This allows for accurate tuning, repeatability of complex patches, and patch storage. Fully Serviced 1974 Moog White Elephant CDX-0652 Vintage Cordovox Combo Organ & Synthesizer

"This synthesizer/organ was nicknamed the 'White Elephant'. It was built in Italy in 1974 by Cordovox. It combines a Thomas organ with a Moog Satellite shared on the upper manual.

The synthesizer voices play only on the upper manual, while the organ voices play on both, with organ and synth sections simultaneously available on the upper manual. The CDX-0652 also includes a batch of 9 preset synthesizer voices which don't appear on a Moog Satellite. The sonic options available are vast, with banks of switches, buttons, and sliders to shape both the combo organ and Moog circuitry. The Moog bass signal can also be accessed on the lower manual and blended with the organ, and the combo organ even has a full percussion bank.

CDX-0652

A dual-manual combo organ with a Moog Satellite grafted onto it. I understand that the Satellite had a very thin sound, nothing like the MiniMoog. It had only a single oscillator and several preset sounds, similar to other semi-preset synths like the Arp Pro Soloist and the Roland SH-2000.

Thomas bought the rights to the Satellite from Moog. The CDX-0652 was designed by Thomas in cooperation with Cordovox. A Thomas version of the Satellite (the "Synthi 1055) and the CDX-0652 were both manufactured by EME, the same outfit that made most Italian Vox organs. Thomas also marketed the Satellite under the "Orbit" name on some of their home organs.

The synthesizer voices play only on the upper manual, organ voices play on both. Organ and synth voices may be played simultaneously on the upper manual. It includes a batch of 9 preset synthesizer voices that don't appear on a Satellite. Unlike the 0642, this one seems to have all of the organ features (many of which seem identical to the 0642) available on both keyboards.

Melody & Probability - #eurorack Session with all AJH SYNTH Sound & Modulation Modules

"This session consists of 4 voices, mixed, effected and recorded directly into the modular (see 'Modules used' below). A simple Moog-style bass line using the Transistor Ladder Filter is accompanied my a pitched drone from 2 VCO's going into the Wave Swarm, then Fixed Filter Bank 914.

These are joined by a melodic, sequenced part, created with a single VCO going into the Ring SM for sub-bass/sub-octaves, then the Sonic XV Diode filter. This part is randomised later in the track, and uses the Chance Delay for step probability.

Percussion comes from the Entropic Doom, with random stepped voltages from the Tap Tempo VC-LFO modulating it's built-in low pass filter frequency. The Tap Tempo VC-LFO also acts as a clock multiplier for this part, and later the melodic pattern too.

Live Set Re-recorded - from Superbooth25, feat AJH SYNTH all-analogue modules

"This is a re-recording of a 20-minute live set by @DreamsOfWires for Superbooth25, and consists of two old tracks from my video back-catalog. It's quite a minimal rig, configured as two all-analogue synth voices - one for melodic patterns, one for pitched drone parts.
The actual performance at the event suffered technical problems as a result of failing cables and a dodgy musician's inability to recover much from it. As a result said musician decided to record a version of it after returning home, demonstrating how it should have sounded.
In my defence, this rig had been on display for 3 days at the AJH Synth booth, demoing modules, being re-patched, fiddled with, then re-patched, etc... but then again, a bad workman always blames their tools :P
I hope this version is more audible.

"I'm excited to present the new Weevil to mark 20 years of BugBrand and Weevils - it's the first regular production since the 2015 BoardWeevil and, I think, the first 'cased' design since 2008! Quite a change from the old cigar boxes of the early days ;)

The main listing for the 20/25 is here - I'm doing a run of 50 for now, which will be built up in batches of 10 over the coming months. The 2nd batch should appear in early April.

"Weevils were the first designs I made as BugBrand and, between 2005 & 2015 I made a whole slew of them – you can see some on the Weevil Archive page. So it seemed apt to make a special one to mark 20 years – the first regular production for 10 years and the first ‘housed’ one since perhaps 2008!

The core is a simple little circuit I found in a library book – a cymbal sound synthesiser made of some CMOS 4000 series logic gates to make squarewaves that are quasi-ringmodulated together. Back in my early days I was doing a lot of circuit bending, so I tried out adding power starvation and body contacts and discovered a deep & chaotic sonic world. This Weevil Heart has stayed pretty constant over the years while I’ve played extensively both with the surrounding circuitry and how to present an instrument. For example, the STEIM Cracklebox was always an inspiration as an almost acousitc electronic instrument that had to be played in a truly experimental manner. It has really been a case of iterative refinement and the developments nicely highlight how my build techniques have evolved.

The 20/25 Weevil is really quite similar to the last BoardWeevil of 2015 – we’ve got the 3 Oscillators, 2 RingMods and State-Variable Filter – but I wanted something cased so took the existing modular boxes and fashioned a new PCB frontpanel with accompanying side-cheeks that could hold a speaker, battery box and line output. Smart!
