Hi everyone!
Just yesterday, I downloaded the new firmware from BaudGirl and started exploring it. In this video, I’ll tell you what I’ve figured out so far and demonstrate some new sounds - created using the new VA engine and the updated sequencer’s new features.

"This is the second video showing about the coming software synthesizer from Unusable Engineering.

This time it is both preset making and showing off presets.

This video is going through the basic workflow in Currents & Nostalgia - using its two oscillators, the filter and the slot sequencers.

The idea is to give you a feel for how it is to work with the synth and how it sounds.

After making a new preset, which in no way was prepared, I play through quite a few of the other presets with a touch of reverb on the output. I use Geometry Reverb (which is free with any paid purchase from unusable.net). In the patch making section I also use a few other effects from Unusable Engineering on the very end. Ensemble Diffuser which is an analog style modulation plugin, Geometry Delay which is a multi-tap delay and Cavitation Fractures, which is a fluid simulator reacting to sound and affecting sound. (They are all available already).

"An electronica piece built from fragmented piano sounds and layered lo-fi textures.

This piece was created with the EP-133 K.O. II and microKORG S.

Twelve piano samples are loaded into the EP-133 K.O. II. An eight-bar loop is played while Punch-in FX adds noise and glitch effects. The output is also processed through the MICROCOSM with reverb while sounds from the PHRASE LOOPER are layered over the loop.

The microKORG S is processed through the Chase Bliss LOST+FOUND with delay and reverb, creating sustained tones with a lo-fi texture.

"Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith found her voice when a neighbor lent her a Buchla 100 synthesizer in 2011. Buchla, and other vintage rare synthesizers became the heart of a body of work that includes Euclid, Ears (named one of the best albums of 2016 by Pitchfork, NPR Music, and Resident Advisor), The Kid, The Mosaic of Transformation, Let's Turn It Into Sound, and last year's Gush and Thoughts on the Future as well as her upcoming album RUIN: It’s Not Just Music - which comes out Oct 2nd.

She's made records with synth pioneer Suzanne Ciani (Sunergy), composer Emile Mosseri (I Could Be Your Dog / I Could Be Your Moon), and Hot Chip's Joe Goddard (Neptunes). She's remixed Max Richter, Perfume Genius, Danny Elfman, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, been remixed by Four Tet, and scored the film Omni Loop, starring Mary-Louise Parker and Ayo Edebiri.

This year she launched her own label, Someone Special, and its first release is her new album, Ruin: It's Not Just Music, out Oct 2nd - which is a Drum and Bass inspired album.

Currents & Nostalgia - Coming synth from Unusable Engineering - First Preview - 47 presets - No Talk

"This is the first video showing of some sound examples of the coming software synthesizer from Unusable Engineering.

I am playing almost 50 preset from Currents & Nostalgia - the first 6 minutes are fully dry, after that I have added reverb from Geometry Reverb (which is free with any paid purchase from unusable.net).

The synthesizer is based around 2 circuit modelled oscillators based on a sawtooth-core of my own design. It is a quite classic, simple synthesizer design, brought a bit more to life by two slot sequencers.

The main idea behind the synth has been to build a synth that was easy to understand and master, while having an inspiring core sound. There are no features hidden in menus, everything available is shown in the interface.

The plan is to release the synth in November 2026. It will be available for Windows and MacOS as VST3i and AU. Current bundle owners will of course get a discount. But I have not decided on a final price yet.

BCR32 — THE ZAQUENCER SEQUENCER, NOW WITH 32 KNOBS UNDER YOUR FINGERTIPS

Hardware controllers either give you knobs OR a sequencer. The BCR32 gives you both, in one of the most powerful USB/MIDI control surfaces ever built at this price. Thirty-two multi-purpose encoders. The Synamodec Levitate Expansion is a massively upgraded version of the original standalone desktop synthesizer. While the standard Levitate primarily consisted of just three simplified blocks (Legus, Neura, and the Nxpctd delay), the Expansion turns the machine into a deep semi-modular instrument by adding the following new modules, expanded sections, and dedicated processing blocks: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

1. New Sound & Modulation Modules
• "Crazy" Module: An entirely new, dedicated noise/sound generator designed for extra sonic chaos, which includes its own LFO and EQ controls. [1, 2]
