Flight of Harmony: The Sound of Shadows

flickr by Analogue Haven

"Here's a great shot of the new Flight of Harmony The Sound of Shadows delay module. The SoS is a dirty digital delay based on the Princeton chip commonly used in effects pedals. Flight of Harmony has also included a VCA, and of course the module features a feedback loop and a good amount of voltage control. The Sound of Shadows will be available in December and the price will be $195. Photo credit: Soy Sos from Muff Wiggler. Also shown: Make Noise QMMG, Tiptop Audio Z3000, Flight of Harmony Plague Bearer barebones kit built into a DIY panel, Doepfer and MFB modules. u-he ACE

A new synth from u-he is coming:
"Does the world really need another simple synthesizer? We believe it does - but there's a lot more to ACE than meets the eye...

The software synthesizer ACE (Any Cable Everywhere) delivers top quality sound at a highly competitive price. The selection of modules and clear layout make ACE the ideal instrument for newcomers delving into the fascinating world of modular synthesis. The number of ways to connect modules together is practically infinite, and you will soon discover how much more fun it is to make your own sounds in ACE than in a non-modular synthesizer.

Elektron Machinedrum triggering BOSS SYB-5 Bass Synthesizer pedal

Elektron Machinedrum triggering BOSS SYB-5 Bass Synthesizer pedal from lefthandedheroes on Vimeo.

"Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 UW GND-SN machine triggering BOSS SYB-5 bass synthesizer pedal. The GND-SN machine routed to an individual out -> Boss SYB-5 -> INP-EA machine for filtering.
Just realized that the first few minutes had that stupid delay on.
All other sounds are machinedrum GND-SN sine machines!
At the time of recording I was first time trying out the pedal, only discovering the possibilities.
The video is to show what kind of sounds you can get triggering the SYB-5 with a GND-SN and was put into an electronic context.
Not a musical statement.
The video was shot with a Nokia N95, the sound quality is far from amazing.

"Using Max for Live to control the Analog synth instrument in Ableton Live 8. The live.remote~ object passes data at many times the resolution of MIDI (one of the great things about the Wacom tablet and sample accurate modulation from MSP to Ableton Live using the API objects in Max for Live). The Wacom tablet has 5 degrees of hi-res expressive freedom (see below for mappings). Very promising, this is just a quick little study... Cheers.

x axis = pitch (tempered)
y axis = volume
pen pressure =vibrato amount
tilt axis y = vibrato rate
