"Live improve set-up.

Equipment shown:
Two Kaossilators, two mini Kaoss pads, a KP3 Kaoss pad, a Tom Bugs WOM synth, Chimera BC8, BC9 and BC16 synths, two Zoom PFX-9003 effects, an Eventide Modfactor, an Eventide Timefactor, a Dirty-Carter E.S.G.I synth, a portable Edirol mixer and a Zoom H2 for recording. No MIDI, keyboards, laptops or desktop computers were used.


Rhythms were generated by the two Kaossilators - going through the mini KPs, bass loops were generated by the KP3. The Chimera BC16 synth (LFO and ADSR) was voltage controlling the BC9 synth and the two Eventide stompboxes. All loop syncing and BPM matching was done on the fly using 'tap-tempo' on the Korgs and Eventides.

"This JP-8 comes with some unknown MIDI mod (with MIDI in/out/thru) and there are also a couple of toggle switches on the left (between the "Volume" and "Master Tune" knobs) labeled "VCA" and "VCF" (I'm not entirely sure what these do but flicking the "VCA" switch up seems to very marginally increase the loudness of the sound). There is also a little red button next to the power switch and till today, I still haven't figured out what exactly it does (some kind of soft reset or something? perhaps some of you might know?). I have been using it with my computer sequencer hooked to a MOTU MIDI Express and they work fine together. "

"In August of 2006, as the summer began to wind down, I found my shop in one of its typically hopeless states of disorganization. Parts were strewn from one end of the shop to the other. I'd just finished up another summer of prototyping some Thomas Henry designs, and the MultiPhase project was lying fallow in a cardboard box awaiting reactivation. Breadboards with forgotten projects mounted to them were strewn about like so much collateral damage. I was having a hard time finding anything. I got it into my head to reorganize my shop and take inventory of what I had on hand, and to put these parts in places I was sure to be able to find them handily."
