"2. Candle Piece

After Nic Collins' "In Memoriam", I was inspired to make a musical circuit which responds to flame. I waited until I found the perfect candles— 5 minute long candles—which provided a concise narrative arc for this circuit.

I gave myself several limitations with this one: make the sculpture as small as possible, make it silent in darkness, and don't do anything besides light the damn candle. we filmed 7 takes, and finally got lucky with this lazarus candle. The original cut is 8 minutes long—incredibly, it kept coming back to light, to life."

"i've seen demos of the kaoss pad quad, but wanted to do my own and show how each effect could be used musically rather than in quick shots. sorry for the boring song, made a quick beat and some synth lines with a video game feel to make a demonstration video of the effects. the drum machine is a korg em-1 and the synth lines come from the korg kaossilator pro. more to come with combining effects, freeze, etc."

'We were just in Frankfurt for Musik Messe, with our new euro modules, and met a bunch of great manufacturers, and artists. I took this video, albeit a couple weeks ago, of Denis from OTO machines, and Hanz from Missing Link jamming on the Biscuit, and Wireless MIDI/OSC Transmitter. They've got it hooked into a modded XBase09, and the master clock is coming from the new products by the Innerclock Systems guys. Hans Lindauer is jamming on the iPhone, with a very fun, minimal, osc command program, and also has the iPad up and running OSC/Midi commands. Denis Cazajeux is tweaking the 8 bit delay and pitch shifting. Thought you'd might like to see it, bad quality and all, its a good jam. That part of our booth was so fun, it was nice to have a solid beat going in the background of modulars, and tabletop synths."
