Tech Talk: Klas 'Sasse' Lindblad (Slices DVD Feature)

Published on Jun 30, 2013 ElectronicBeatsVideo·314 videos
No synth talk, but plenty of synth spotting.

"Rawness is basically what House Music is all about. So you need to keep the rawness in there otherwise you loose the plot of what you are actually going for." — KLAS 'SASSE' LINDBLAD Tech Talk feature, taken from Slices Issue 1-13.

Eardrill Morphun x 2

Published on Jun 30, 2013 DJjondent·202 videos

"Two Buchla format Eardrill Morphums.

The bottom one is set to clock mode.
Upper one is in Morph mode.

Pendulum ratchet us clocking the lower Morphun, the 266e, & 281e.
The lower Morph is the sequencer for the 259e.
Upper morphun modulates timbre of 259e, and the frequency of the 291e filter.

Finally, just to add a little bit of randomness a 266e provides
some CV to the bandwidth of the 291e.

ARP 2600 Blue Meanie S&H 01

Published on Jun 30, 2013 AudioCentralMagazine·152 videos

"The (ultra) rare ARP 2600 Blue Meanie/Blue Marvin is under control of S&H module: EGs are fired from S&H Clock; VCO1, VCO 2 and VCF are S&H modulated. Audio signal goes straight into 2600's spring reverb. A copy of the VCA out signal (dry) is hard switched left/right with Electronic Switch. A great synthesizer, pretty different in sound from the standard 2600 B/W and B/O."

Novation Bass Station II Analogue Synth Review Part 1 at Nevada Music UK

Novation Bass Station IIs on eBay

"http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/piano-ke... Chris from Focusrite Novation runs us throughthe main features of the ultra cool Bass Station II. Fat analogue synth sounds pour out of this wonderful keyboard and as well as being easy to use, it feature USB and MIDI for a complete studio solution. Bass Station II is an analogue mono-synth based on the classic original Bass Station but updated for the requirements of the contemporary keyboard player. The Bass Station has two filters, two oscillators plus a third sub-oscillator, it provides patch save facilities and has a fully analogue effects section. Add-in a step sequencer, arpeggiator, full sized keys and a powerful modulation section and you have the makings of a synth that is built for bass, but capable of so much more.

Bass Station II is an analogue mono-synth specifically designed for bass, but with a sound-engine that is versatile enough to kick out sharp leads and crisp arpeggios. It brings the best elements from the original Bass Station into a brand new design with re-worked modulation, effects, filters and more - it has all the advantages of the original Bass Station, but with a much, much bigger sound. The signal path is pure analogue - including the effects section, whilst the hardware has been laid out in modules with dedicated pots, switches, sliders and buttons for all major parameters. Critically, you can store and recall patches on Bass Station II, which comes with 64 killer factory presets, space for a further 64 of your own sounds within the unit, and furthermore you can then store additional patches on your computer."

Novation Bass Station II Analogue Synth Part 2 at Nevada Music UK
Published on Jul 1, 2013

"http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/piano-ke... Chris from Focusrite Novation creates a track using the Novation Bass Station II and the Launchpad S grid controller. Being a monophonic synth, Chris uses midi to record note information then plays it back to the Bass Station so he can tweak the sound. Then it gets recorded as audio in a clip on the Ableton software so the Bass Station can be free'd up to produce another sound. This is a great way of recording as its both hands on and very creative. The Bass Station allows for experimentation which is hard to do within software as well as teaching your ear how the different controls effect the sound, LFO's, oscillators and filters etc, a great lesson for all the plug in musicians. If your into computer music, you owe to yourself to experience a real analog synth and now with midi and USB connectivity it easily works with software without old school CV issues. Destined to become a modern classic, there's no better place to find your own sounds and blend the best of the old with the new. Affordable, real and fun.
