ModStep Midi Sequencer for iOS Test Drive by John Lead (Sub37+TR8+K-Station+BassStation2)
Published on Jan 16, 2016 AudioLabs
"Test driving the new midi sequencer for iOS: MODSTEP
http://modstep.net/
Using it as master clock to sync and sequence the Moog Sub 37 + Roland TR 8 + Novation Bass Station 2 + Novation K Station.
Also, using a clap and snare from the built in sampler that comes with MODSTEP.
Sorry for the head shaking but i was having too much fun ;)

New DSI Synth Coming to NAMM - Sneak Peak
Update: thought this might have been something new as I could not find it on DSI's Product page, but then I realized it's likley the Polyevolver keyboard with Prophet style knobs.
I'm guessing this one is the Pro 2, but is it?
Do you see anything else in the video?
How to Build Your Very Own String Synth with DSP Synthesizers Codename Solina

You might remember DSP Synthesizers Codename Solina. If you'd like to build your own, you'll find instructions on how to do so on the DSP Synthesizers site here.
"The Eminent Solina is a fameous string synthesizer from the 70’s. It is based on a paraphonic oscillator, a simple envelope and a phaser.
The oscillators in the original was a divide down structure where you generate the frequencys for the top octave and divide those down by modulo 2 for the rest of the octaves.
We can’t really use a signal for every key so we use an alogorithm for generating 8 Saw waves and distribute those among the keys played on the keyboard.
Paraphonic means it’s kind of polyphonic but shares some parts of the soundpath. In this case it’s the envelope shared by all the keys played on the keyboard..." See DSP Synthesizers for more.
Early Morning Sequencing on the Moog Sub 37

"Pre-breakfast sequencing with the powerful Moog Sub 37. Sequencing on an empty stomach is risky but fun."
tempest 1.3 - DSI Tempest controller for Ableton live
via Max for Live:
"Tempest is a simple utility for Dave Smith's and Roger Linn's Tempest analog drum machine with Ableton Live.
You can control the parameters that are available on the Tempest as they come with the tempest OS updates. The tempest os used is 1.4.0 for this version.
The available parameters are:
- Distortion
- Compression
- a value other than 0 reverts Beat FX params to defaults
- Beat FX All Osc Frequency
- Beat FX Feedback
- Beat FX Lowpass Filter Cutoff
- Beat FX Lowpass Filter Resonance
- Beat FX Lowpass Filter Audio Mod
- Beat FX Highpass Filter Cutoff
- Beat FX All Env Attack
- Beat FX All Env Decay
The virtual pads show both bank A and B. These pads are clickable and send midi notes, the MIDI notes used in this device are ascending from 0, it is a chromatic scale from C0 to G2 (pad A1 to pad B16), the pad display will work with this config in your tempest system parameters, and will act accordingly to your 'pad to note' config in the Tempest System parameters. As beats and mutes pad mode do not respond to note-off messages from your daw nor this device, you might need to trig the pad twice to mute or unmute a sound, or to lanch a beat, and the lights won't be coherent in these modes.
You have to set the output of the Live midi track to your Tempest midi PAD in channel.
Save your soul."
New Doepfer Custom Colored A100 Modules and Vintage Systems in Black Coming to NAMM
Doepfer will be at NAMM in Hall B, booth #5014. They will be showing these all black vintage Doepfer A-100 series systems and the following new modules.

"A-110-3 is a Thru Zero VCO with triangle core. The term 'Thru-Zero' means that even 'negative' frequencies are generated. But this a bit a misleading term as negative frequencies do not really exist. "Negative" means in this connection simply that the triangle wave will stop when the linear control voltage reaches 0V and continue with the opposite direction as the linear control voltage becomes negative and vice versa."
A-110-6 Trapezoid Thru Zero Quadrature VCO
"A-110-4 is a Trapezoid Thru Zero Quadrature VCO. The module is based on an idea by Donald Tillman from 2003 but has been revised for the use of modern electronic circuits (no OTAs/CA3280). Because of it's unique trapezoid core it's totally different compared to other VCOs. But the trapezoid core is not the only specialty: it is also a quadrature VCO and features linear thru zero frequency modulation.
The term "quadrature" means in this connection that the oscillator outputs two trapezoid waves with 90 degrees phase shift. The same as sine and cosine of a standard quadrature oscillator. These waveforms are called TRASIN (trapezoid sine) and TRACOS (trapezoid cosine)."
A-121-2 12dB Multimode Filter
"Module A-121 is a voltage-controlled multi-mode filter with a cut-off slope of -12 dB / octave. Four simultaneous outputs are available, each with different characteristics: low-pass, band-pass, high-pass and notch (or band reject). The cut-off frequency determines the point at which the respective filter effects appear. The frequency can be adjusted manually, or by voltage control (Filter modulation, for instance by an LFO or ADSR). Two CV inputs are available, whose control voltages are summed. Resonance (Emphasis or Q ) can be adjusted manually, or by voltage control, right up to self-oscillation, in which case it will behave like a sine wave oscillator."
A-168-1 PWM Module
"Module A-168-1 is a pulsewidth modulation generator (PWM Module). It derives a rectangle signal with adjustable pulsewidth from an external triangle, sawtooth or sine wave. The external signal can be an LFO, VCO or any other signal with falling/rising slopes (e.g. ADSR). In addition the pulsewidth can be modulated by a CV signal (e.g. LFO or ADSR). The typical application is the generation of a rectangle signal with PWM from VCOs or LFOs which do not yet have this feature (e.g. A-110-4, A-145, A-147-2, A-143-4, A-143-9)."
