Dr. Blankenstein Workshops Coming to Maker Faire Detroit 2016

"A shout out to #upcycling genius @TimSway in @TheHenryFord museum interview"

You'll find the interview here along with details on the event.

"At Maker Faire Detroit 2016, Drew Blanke—more formally known as “Dr. Blankenstein”—will arrive, trailing a rolling suitcase full of broken toys and noise-making creations along behind him. Over the weekend of July 30-31, 2016, Blanke will hold workshops to teach people how to “up-cycle electronics into one-of-a-kind 21st century art.” He asks that guests interested in participating in the workshop bring along broken electronics from home—to “open them, inspect them, and learn from them.” He will also have a few of his own creations available for hands-on demonstrations."

Capacity and Resistance by Dirch Blewn

"Dirch Blewn is the project of musician David Bloor. He records and performs the instruments of Peter Blasser. Recorded live with a few overdubs this music is the sound of capacitors charging and dissipating, of gesture with no finesse, of fish guts and physical connection with wires. Flexing wood and the smell of tung oil. It’s about the drum of Tommy Lee added to some drama from Pamela, the heady mix of surfboards and silicon. The remnants of squeezing jelly ass signal into 8 bits and ultrasound. The sound of woodpile, chaos theory, kiri with a cardboard box, industrial components and paradox.

Linear Obsessional is delighted to release this mesmeric work as a free download as a precursor to an album of shorter works to be released later in the year..."

Beebar

Beebar from Bryan Noll on Vimeo.

"The Beebar blesses my first loop with the new 4ms Dual Looping Delay.

Performed live on a modular synthesizer with the help of a cat.

No patch notes for this one, folks. All you're hearing is the two loops: one is Tides on bass, and the other is Rings on melody – both played live with the QuNexus.

Because the sound quality isn't so great (I recorded it directly into my camera's input) I hadn't intended on posting this one anywhere but Instagram. But people really seem to be enjoying it, so I figure why not.

Enjoy! And many #catblessings to you and your animal and synthesizer friends and family."

"This was Hammond's top of the line, flagship model circa 1974. It's their most sophisticated and the last model they made. This was originally intended to sit on top of a Hammond Organ.

There are 16 styles, each with 4 variations. You can set it to automatic variation mode, where it will cycle through each of the four variations. You can select how often the pattern changes from 1/2 measure, 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 measures. Or you can leave it in manual variation mode and select the variations with the four lighted A/B/C/D buttons.

The drum sounds are analog. They include a number of Latin percussion sounds. The beats are Waltz, 6/8 March, 4/4 March / Polka, Western / Shuffle, Ballad, Dixieland, Jazz, Blues/Rock, Hard Rock, Liverpool, Samba, Bossa Nova, Cha Cha, Rhumba/Beguine, Tango, and Afro-Latin. You can also press down more than one of the beat buttons at a time to combine beats together. It is not, however, programmable. All beats are hardwired from the factory. Tempo and Volume have front panel knobs. There is a Sound/Silent switch."

"Roland JX8P Synth with PG800 programmer for sale. It is a 6-voice DCO based synth with analog filters. I have never had a tuning issue (unlike the Juno 6 and Oberheim I have had in the past!). These items are in great condition, every key, button, slider, and pitch controller function perfectly. After-touch works as well.

I don't know if this keyboard has ever had a battery change, but it has the stock patches, and will save new patches. Some of the patch names in Bank B look like random characters, but I never tried to fix it- I did not have the patch data to reload or the inclination!"
