VGM #81: Protoman's Theme (Mega Man 3)
Published on Aug 3, 2016 Ace Waters
"Also known as Whistle Concert, I was inspired to cover Protoman's Theme while watching a good friend complete Mega Man 3 at my house, which tends to be the case when I cover most Mega Man music.
No BTS video this week. This video ended up taking a lot longer than expected and I just have too much other stuff on my plate right now. Including:
WHERE ARE YOUR VGM ALBUMS??? You might be asking. Well, I had to take them off of Loudr due to some issues I was having over there. I am in the process of getting them back online and available for you all, but its going to take a little while. I will make an update video when they are back online!
In the meantime, if you really want to not only get all of my VGM albums, as well as every album I have ever made AND support the channel in a huge way, head over to Patreon and check out the Discography level of support: https://www.patreon.com/acewatersmusic

MFB Dominion 1 wobbly slider fix
Published on Aug 3, 2016 Vykaar Tones
"I used short lengths of rubber sleeving to make the sliders of this amazing synthesizer less wobbly."
Thought this was an interesting and simple solution worth posting for slider based synths in general. Just be sure to check it over the years to be sure it doesn't break down over time. Not saying it will, but I guess it depends on what you use and any friction over time.

Video Walkthrough - Modular Meets Electric Spring 2016
Published on Aug 3, 2016 DivKidVideo
"Here's the first of a few videos from Huddersfield University's 'Electric Spring Festival'. For the past couple of years they've let us hold a 'Modular Meets' event. In this first video from 'Enzo Luckow' filmed a walkthrough of the event on his Go Pro and gave me the footage. So here it is with some audio in the background which is me jamming on my Beatstep Pro and Euro-Drum rack. I may upload the audio separate as it probably deserves some attention ... I like it! :)

RyuX CEM3320 Filter VC
Published on Aug 2, 2016 RyuX
"This is my eurorack filter with a Curtis CEM3320.
2/4 pole switchable, normal / hard saturation, 2 channel mixer, resonance and frequency cv.
Playing around a little bit"
"Based on Digisound 80-6A."
Update: I asked RyuX if this was a one off or if they would be made available in any form. He said, "I have made a couple of PCBs for the prototype, of course i had to do some modifications to have it fully working. It would be possible to give away some PCBs along with Instructions. I don't plan on giving away completed modules as the CEM3320 Chips are very rare."
There were rumors of the CEM3320 being re-issued when the new CEM3340 was announced, so there might be some hope.

Korg MS-20 Retro Expansion by Yew Tree Magic's Martin Walker
This one in via Martin Walker of Sound on Sound, who brought us the Yew Tree Magic's Steampunk Shruthi Sound Designer Edition.
"With additional top-mounted panel controls and handsome cherry hardwood side panels, the Retro Expansion is a heavily modded version of the Korg MS-20 Mini by Martin Walker that includes the following additional features:

3. SYNC: An OSC2 Sync toggle switch, to lock it with OSC1 for those screaming lead sync FX.
4. FM: An FM input added to OSC2 with its own rotary level control, so it could be modulated at audio rates by OSC1 among other options.
5. VCO MIXER: expansion for the existing mixer section, adding two extra input sockets, each with its own level control knob.
6. DIODE RING MOD: a more traditional transformer/schottky diode ring modulator circuit to achieve far more mellow ring mod options than the integral (XOR) option.
7. Final casework mods include a new top-mounting panel for all the new controls, a 1/4-inch jack output, and cherry hardwood side panels from Dolmage Designs.
If you're interested in adding any or all of these Retro Expansion mods to your own MS-20 Mini, all details of the circuit changes and more photos are available at www.yewtreemagic.co.uk. They should also work on the original MS-20 and more recent kit versions."
