discoDSP Takes Over Ownership of OB-Xd

You might remember the OB-Xd from this previous video. It looks like discoDSP has taken over development.

via Synth Anatomy:

"It was kind of surprise to see that discoDSP announced this week that it has taken over the OB-Xd Synthesizer project. Before some years, Soshi Studio developed this Synthesizer Plugin (PC, MAC, Linux) and released for free in all the communities. Now this great plugin has a new home. The developer behind the Corona Synthesizer, Discovery Pro Synthesizer and many more got the rights of this plugin and continue this product.

For all users who doesn't use this plugin yet or not heart before, OB-Xd is a free Oberheim OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 Synthesizer emulation. For a free project, the sound quality is really good.

While not copying originals, some of the features were taken to a better point. Continuous blendable multimode filter (HP-Notch(BP)-HP in 12 dB mode and 4-1 pole in 24 dB mode). 32 and 64 bit versions included. Thanks to 2Dat for the original Ob-Xd and Soshi Studio for giving the rights to continue this wonderful product.

You can download it for free here: OBXd"

This is the one in the video posted here.

"Well maintained classic analog synthesizer Teisco 110F.
Cosmetically and technically the unit is in very good condition. I would say near mint.

It has been recently serviced by a pro :
Keyboard and keyboard contacts cleaned
Slide pots cleaned, and rejuvenated with caig products (non corrosive/non agressive)
New power cord
New hard wood side panels, sprayjob with professional car paint matching original colour and size (the originals where plywood and sensitive to chipping of the corners)
All functions work, no bad contacts, all switches and pots work fluently."

SN 00001 via this auction

According to the listing:
"THIS IS THE FIRST ONE EVER MADE!!!! Serial number 00001!!!!!!!

This synth powers on, produces a signal, but it definitely needs a full servicing/cleaning. There are 2 screws missing on the left panel, as well as 2 colored knobs on the front switches (see photos).
37 keys, measuring 29 1/2" x 10" x 4 1/4"
Featuring dedicated sliders for low and high pass filters. 2 sliders for ADSR and a switch for each separate effect. Quickly change octaves/waveforms with the 2 large knobs.
I can't emphasize enough what an incredibly cool piece of history this is.
All knobs and switches are original!
Very buzzy and raw tone. Smooth leads, harsh gurgly basses.

Extremely special piece as it was the first one put into production!!"

"This particular Polaris is special because it has a new control panel (touch buttons) and internal ribbons installed. This means that it is good to go for another few decades. Finding one that is fully function like this is really difficult.

All of the sliders and controls work perfectly with no noise or artifacts. The outputs are clean and solid. MIDI works perfectly as well. All of the keys respond and feel like new. Cosmetically, it is also in really good shape. A few scuffs on the wood side panels...that's about it. I thought about painting them, but just left them as-is."

"MK1 Odyssey serial # 282156. Original, no mods. Excellent cosmetic condition ; this unit would benefit from replacing the sliders and RCA output (its corroded). Other than that you will have a beautiful specimen."

The Battle of Yamaha DX7 - The 32 Original Factory Patches VS Power DX7 Patches

Published on Oct 20, 2016 Power DX7

"The Battle of Yamaha DX7 - The 32 Original Factory Patches VS Power DX7 Patches

This is a Yamaha DX7 demo brought to you by Power DX7, showcasing the breathtaking realism and unparalleled versatility of the Yamaha Synthesizer, Yamaha DX7 FM Synthesizer.

About This Yamaha DX7 Demo Video
This DX7 demo video is a comparison between the Yamaha DX7 32 original factory patches and Power DX7 patches. Those 32 factory patches are selected from the DX7 VOICE ROM1 & ROM 2 cartridges that came with the Yamaha DX7 MK1 (totaling 128 patches). Each comparison consists of playing the same arrangement with the same effects (or no effects for some patches). The first patch you hear is the original factory patch. The second patch is the Power DX7 patch. Some are a direct comparison, but the others can be remotely similar, as there is no equivalent patch found in those VOICE ROMs. The difference in sounds and volume you hear is due to the difference in programming between the original factory patches and my Power DX7 patches.
