Dave Smith Instruments Sequential Prophet X at Superbooth 2018

Published on May 7, 2018 Synthtopia

"At Superbooth 2018, we talked with Gerry Bassermann about the new Dave Smith Instruments Sequential Prophet X synthesizer.

The Sequential Prophet X is a bi-timbral, 8-voice-stereo (16-voice mono) synthesizer that combines samples and synthesis. At the heart of its sound is a newly developed engine that powers two simultaneous 16-bit, 48kHz sample-based instruments plus two high-resolution digital oscillators with waveshape modulation — all processed through analog filters."

Perfect Circuit Systems: Glitch Series

Published on May 7, 2018 Perfect Circuit Audio

"In the 1980s, digital music technologies promised vast new sonic capabilities. So came the Yamaha DX-7’s digital FM, the Fairlight CMI’s sample-based workflow, the peculiar additive approach of the Technos Axcel, and the sequencing options afforded by computers and specialized hardware. A new world of sound was revealed, and many artists sought to find its boundaries: when they did, they found the inharmonic aliasing, abrasive sputters, grinding timbres, and mind-boggling rhythms that grew to define progressive digital music.

Perfect Circuit Audio’s Glitch Series is a family of Eurorack modular synthesizers for musicians who want to explore novel digital synthesis methods that revel in this aesthetic of malfunction. Featuring modules by Make Noise, Noise Engineering, The Harvestman/Industrial Music Electronics, and more, the Glitch Series places digital destruction under voltage control.

Check out the links below for more information on the Glitch Series as well as our other preconfigured modular systems!

Strymon BigSky Eurorack Module Conversion by Million Machine March

via Million Machine March

"I was glad to see Strymon released their first eurorack module this year. Their Magneto module looks like a great entry and should fair well against others in that space. However after deeper analysis I find the module is lacking in a few areas. So, here I took their BigSky pedal and converted it over to a eurorack module. Having CV control over the parameters is a must and honestly, after using more CV, I could not go back to the original pedal again without them!"

Mister Rogers would be proud of this remix! - itijik Dollar Crate Sessions

Published on May 6, 2018 itijik

"Dollar Crate Sessions is about exploring the art of sampling using dollar records found at thrift shops. The abandoned vinyl that didn’t fit in their collection. The badass record that gets a scratch and is tossed in the garbage. One man's trash is another man's treasure!

For this session I had my Instagram followers pick out of three records, and they chose none other than Mister Rogers, 'A Place Of Our Own'! I recorded a lot of raw material by manipulating the turntable and the new Echo System by Empress Effects. I created a few sounds on the Elektron Digitakt, but the majority of the work was done in Ableton Live. This is a different approach for me, but I love how it worked out...even though it takes a little longer ;) There's a lot of good stuff I haven't included because it didn't fit the final beat I chose, but that just means more to play with later!

Thanks for watching my videos, I hope you enjoy! Leave a comment and tell me what you think.
