Zero Zero Island - New Song in Progress w/ Ableton Push 2 & Eurorack

"Like the title says, I'm just throwing together arrangement ideas right now, the song is very ROUGH. But it was the first idea i came up with, only a few minutes after plugging in my Ableton Push 2 for the first time. The Eurorack is mostly handling the bass via the Roland 512 VCO and Erica Polyvoks VCF. It needs a lot of work, but hopefully it'll end up a finished song eventually."

USB MIDI controller charging the iPad / iPhone at the same time?

"Using the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter (Apple) it is possible to connect USB controllers to the iPad / iPhone and charge the device at the same time!

In addition, the adapter may solve some cases where the USB controller is not normally powered by the iOS device.

A good tip to play with music apps without worrying about the iPhone or iPad battery!"

"I thought I would do a clip that shows patch creation on the OB-Mx from 'initial conditions' all the way to a final Timbre.

The Oberheim OB-Mx is a really amazing synth. Its a little unorthodox in places, for example if you take the oscillator above 15 of 100 in volume it starts to saturate, above 27 it starts to FM and almost ring modulate with the second oscillator in a very pleasing and unique way! The MM & OB Filters perform in ways you might not expect. The VCA offset is an awesome feature I wish more synths have, with this you can bypass the VCA and just drone to your hearts content. The Oscillators can sound like silk or Sandpaper, you can get sounds that range from Prophet 5 and CS-80 or some of those Classic Oberheim tones if you work hard. A very unique synth I think will be with me for a very long time!

"Quanta is a full-featured ten-voice true stereo granular synthesizer, with up to a hundred 1000ms grains per voice, and full control over the grain state, with direct randomization and modulation of most parameters. Drag-and-drop a sample (WAV, AIFF, Ogg, or FLAC) on to the window and go to work.

Synthesize!

With two multi-mode filters (with LP, HP, BP and notch in 2-pole and 4-pole topologies), and a "sidecar" virtual-analog oscillator and noise generator that can be used in addition to, or injected into, the grain engine, Quanta is a fully capable subtractive synth in its own right, and will work as a granular or subtractive (or both) synth without any sample at all.

Modulate!

Quanta has mod coming out its ears. First up are four of our new FEGs (Flexible Envelope Generator), a 99-point looping function generator with optional host tempo sync. Then add two arbitrary-waveshape LFOs, a multi-source sample-and-hold module, and fully user-controllable MIDI assignments, with nearly every control on the panel as a destination.

Quanta is customizable to your taste and playing style. With full MPE support, it can take advantage of the extended control set of your Linnstrument, Seaboard, Soundplane, Continuum, or other MPE controller, and support for TUN files lets you use tuning tables. "A skim through the components of wreckage.

Originally given away with the first ten shard modules sold. The internals have been re worked to run at about ten times the speed of the initial design. Making for a somewhat more brutal and psychotic animal :)

Both flying solo and with cv modulation support from several soundmachines LP1 lightplane modules..To wrap it up it's put side by side with a shard module, being fed into the shard audio input.

6 x oscillators - 3 x fragments 3 x shards. CV over pitch of each osc with built in attenuation.
Atrophy chaos amplification.

Presented here in a few short sessions. Initially all hands on and later using cv automation and manual manipulation to make it do what it does best.

Clean through the run with no fx other than the intro section and fade out."
