"All controls work as they should, most importantly the joystick which has seen very little actual use (i've always used an external joystick on the sy35 mapped to it to keep it low use). Some of the buttons, especially the blue patch selection buttons, are a little bit stubborn though this hasn't been a huge problem since I just use a controller keyboard / ableton to switch patches. These are absolutely amazing sounding machines, but not much fun to program from the front panel so I'd recommend using a software editor and patch librarian. Firmware version is v1.1 but I expect whoever buys it will want to put in their preferred version, I understand a homebrewed v1.3 is actually in the works from a private party you may want to look into which adds functions like LFO sync/unsync. Replica CEM5530s are also being made in limited runs, though the originals in this one still work just fine." Pics of the inside below.

Roland MKS-30 Planet-S Cheerful Cetaceans by Landosonic

Published on Dec 2, 2018 LANDOSONIC

"Roland's MKS-30, also known as Planet-S, is doing 2 percussion tracks and 2 melodic arpeggiated lines here with panning left/right. In addition, I used Native Instruments' Absynth 5 Preset 'Akustikly Inklined' with heavy pitchbend for the cetaceans' voices.

For digital FX I utilized N.I. Reaktor 5 again, it is completely mind-boggling in view of the versatility of the NI Reaktor User Library to which one gets access with their Reaktor license.

This track showcases what can be achieved when even a humble DCO synth as the MKS-30 finds itself in talented hands. The attached hardware programmer PG200 helps tremendously in the creative process."

Composing video game music with only one synth (Waldorf Blofeld)

Published on Dec 2, 2018 once upon a synth

"I attempt to compose music for an imaginary RPG video game called 'Super Synth Nerd'. I'm using only one synth for all the sounds. The synth is the Waldorf Blofeld which is a digital polyphonic synth which can do wavetable synthesis as well as traditional subtractive synthesis. #onesynthchallenge

I decided to approach this using a narrative story arc. So we start in a happy place, then the hero enters a tavern and gets assigned a mission. He then goes off on his adventure when suddenly he runs into a boss (a ghost). After beating the boss everything is good in the world. The End. lol... ok I had to keep it super generic and compact otherwise this would have taken too long.

The pixel art at the end of the video was drawn and animated with Hexels 3. This is my first attempt at making pixel art so go easy on me :)."

Bach WTC Book 1, Fugue 1 on Moog Synthesizer

Published on Dec 1, 2018 Moognificat

"A performance of the C major Fugue from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1 by J. S. Bach. Watch bubbles freeze while listening to the unmistakable tones of a Moog Sub 37 analog synthesizer. Everything you hear was multi-tracked, mixed, and processed in Reaper."
