"Michel Waisvisz designed and built the very first Crackle circuit in the late 60ties together with Geert Hamelberg. This was simply a wooden frame with some print boards mounted rear-side up to be touched by the fingers. The circuits were ‘malformed’ oscillators that were very unstable and highly sensitive for finger connections. The Crackle circuit, as well as the powered speaker box, were battery powered to avoid hum and repeated exposure to dangerous electrical shocks. In 1973 Michel Waisvisz joined STEIM and started working on more touchable electronic instruments together with Peter Beyls, Nico Bes and Johan den Biggelaar, and by the mid-seventies they had created both the ‘Crackle Synth’ and the ‘Crackle Box’.
The Magnetic Fields recently used one in their album Love at the Bottom of the Sea. Swedish percussionist Sven-Åke Johansson carries one often and uses it frequently in recordings and improvisation. Mazen Kerbaj tours with one of the original Crackle synthesizers.
I used this once and it's been in the box since 2012. I have the pin that keeps the box closed in a baggie in the box. Get it, it's a cool little device."

"This AX80 is in MIGHTY slick condition. From the sleek black sides to the sharp retro fluorescent displays, this AX rocks.
The synth has been gone through and had two CEM3372 ICs replaced with new old stock ICs, keyboard contacts cleaned, power supply voltages inspected, all ribbon cables secured, and a general cleaning.
Included is a very rare AKAI branded soft case that would have been ordered separately back in the day. This is the only one ive ever seen and it definitely ties the whole vibe together.
8 Voices w/ 2 DCOs and 1 Sub Oscillator per voice
61 Keys
64 User Patches and 32 Presets (User Memory currently empty, ready for you to save your own lush pads!)
Full MIDI integration
Rad Vacuum Fluorescent Displays (all functioning correctly)"

Conductive Labs NDLR: Creating Generative Music
Published on Apr 10, 2020 Oscillator Sink
"The NDLR can be a tricky device to classify. It is not a traditional sequencer, but it certainly does sequence. To call it an arpeggiator would be to undersell it significantly, but arpeggios are very much an intrinsic part of its DNA. It is obviously far away from a traditional midi controller but it offers hands on control over midi instruments.
So I think that maybe it's better to think about the NDLR in terms of how it influences your relationship with your instruments. When you use a keyboard controller, you are playing the role of performer. When using a sequencer your job is more that of composer, with the sequencer then in charge of the actual performance.
With the NDLR you are more acting like a band leader during a jam. You set up a musical environment with rules, and as the performance happens, you direct the flow of the music with broad strokes; the details are left up to the performers jamming away inside the NDLR.
This blurring of the line between composer and performer really speaks to my interest in generative music so in this video, starting with a blank slate, I look at how you can use the NDLR to create generative music, taking an in-depth look at some features that I think are really cool when working in that kind of environment.
Here's Loopop's video on the NDLR:" [posted here]

This one is in via I.morgendoerfer who had the following to say about the piece:
"I wanted to show my set up consisting of sampling Arturia microfreak in mlr (aka re:mix, the maxforlive version) and live looping-mangle the output with Anaphora (https://llllllll.co/t/anaphora/23876)"

Bloopean 3.1 Chase Bliss Blooper and Novation SL MKIII live jam
Published on Apr 10, 2020 -CALC-
"Jamming further with the Blooper and the SL MKIII its a match made in Dawless heaven.
SL handling drum sequencing and CV/Gate SH101 bass line duties (off camera). Also some simple loops in Octatrack mixed by SL with the wonderful Reface CP running through Blooper.
Initial Reface chords coming from a muted track in the SL MKIII the steps acting like a chord programmer. = super easy jazz chords programming.
Blooper Crumbles towards the end... obvs!
But I overloaded it in exporting chasing LUFS so apologies for the clipping."

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #85: Modal Craft Synth 2.0 - Song 3
Published on Apr 10, 2020 Christian's Sonic Spaces
"This is the third song with the Craft Synth 2. Still enjoy to tweak sound patches and discover the huge sonic potential of this tiny mono synth.
I used for the recording the following FX chain:
CraftSynth 2 - DigiTech Obscura - Alesis Ampliton - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are modiefied or deactivated.
The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."
