Xtal (Aphex Twin Cover) - Played with the Nord Drum 3P
video upload by Jannis Le Wolff
"👾 In this video I'm playing Xtal by Aphex Twin with Nord Drum 3P sounds only. I've always loved this song, also for its particular sound design, and this is my little take on it.
The whole arrangement is controlled via Ableton Live, using the KMI Softstep 2 and Novation Launchpad Mini as midi controllers."

Complex oscillator comparison - Cosmotronic vs. Hexinverter
video upload by John Schussler
"Unlike the Verbos and Sputnik complex oscillators I looked at last time [posted here], which are fairly straightforward, the Cosmotronic and Hexinverter complex oscillators are...definitely more complex.
They both add phase modulation to the wavefolder, and include more elaborate modulation buss control. Plus more intermodulation capabilities.
They're set up sufficiently differently that a direct feature-by-feature comparison would be hard to do in a sensible way. Or in under 3 hours. So this is really a long, meandering, very skip-around-able video to sample both flavors.
And when you're done, go listen to the Verbos and Sputnik. It's an interesting comparison.
Sequence: Stochastic IG. Envelope: Zadar
00:00 Intro
00:20 Vortex sequence
21:38 Vortex drone
28:28 Mindphaser sequence
47:22 Mindphaser drone"

Side to side comparisons Vintage ARP2600P and KORG ARP2600FS (PART1)
video upload by CGMAGIK
"Just doing some back and forth playing around. Nothing scientific here. Just trying to create similar sounding patches on both instruments to compare. I made a bunch of these and will be posting some more as well . . . Thanks for watching :)"
Doepfer - Trautonium System

Inspired by the Trautonium invented by Friedrich Trautwein in the 1930's and most well known from Alfred Hitchcock's movie The Birds, this miniature version of the Trautonium gives you the full vibe of what it may have felt like to play the actual instrument back then. The focus of the entire system is the Doepfer A-104 Trautonium Formant Filter. It is made of four parallel resonance filters, each filter can be switched to low pass or band pass or off. Frequency, resonance and level are controlled for each filter separately and are summed to the final output to create formant vowel like tones.
To give you the most true experience of the original Trautonium we added the Doepfer A-198 Ribbon Controller for expressive touch control of pitch and volume. This allows for free flowing pitch adjustments commonly found in acoustic instruments, like the cello, violin and other world stringed instruments.
The Doepfer A-115 Audio Divider gives you octave down divisions from the original pitch to add a classic organ type feel to the over sound, but once filtered through the A-104 you can start to get in the cello territory like mentioned above.
Modules included in this system
- A-198 Ribbon Controller
- A-110-2 VCO
- A-115 Audio Divider
- A-180-1 Multiple
- A-145 LFO
- A-104 Trautonium Formant Filter
- A-131 Exponential VCA
- Tendrils Cables (2 packs of 6)
- Tendrils Mutant Cables (2 cables)
Housed in a 4ms POD64X.
This system includes a 4ms 45W power brick.

Miso Modular - Cornflakes Granular Sampler @ Noisebug
video upload by NOISEBUG
via Noisebug
"Cornflakes, being a granular sampler, does not play its samples back conventionally, but split them into smaller bits called grains. Furthermore, the grains are divided into four simultaneous voices to allow for polyphonic pitch control or harmonization.
The module has the ability to time-stretch, pitch-shift and produce harmonics. It’s calibrated to 1v/oct to encourage a bit of musicality. Recording and playback can be triggered manually or via CV.
The module features 32 memory slots for samples stored on an SD card and you can run audio through it live for real-time processing.
There are manual and CV control over Speed, Diffusion, Harmonics, Pitch, Grain Size, Position, Trim and Distribution.
Audio format:
• Stereo
• 48khz, 24-bit sampling
*SD card not included!
Power consumption: max. 165mA at +12 V and 40mA at -12 V
HP : 14"
Serge Ext ADSR to Pitch
video upload by Todd Barton
"I was surprised when I sent the Serge Extended ADSR to Pitch in on a static oscillator -- all sorts of pitch patterns became available based on the interaction of the envelop shape knobs with only a single LFO going to one CV in of envelope shape. Enjoy!

MFB 501 vintage DRUM MACHINE from 1980
video upload by Polykit
"This is the MFB 501 drum machine from 1980. I needed to make a custom power supply cable for this rather unusual plug. I'm pretty excited about this because it was made in my home town!"
