"Dark Star consists of 4 sections:

-Voltage Controlled Oscillator based on AS3340 with sawtooth, triangle and pulse waveforms
-Voltage Controlled Filter with lowpass and highpass options, Drive control, Sweep control which attenuates amount of Release CV
-Release generator with CV input for voltage control of release time. Option for sustain via jumper on rear panel.
-Voltage Controlled Amplifier

Together they form a pre-patched super versatile analogue synthesiser voice.

Additionally, each section is fully modular in it’s own right, so there are patch points for:

-1V/oct CV input
-PWM CV input – attenuator doubles as manual pulse width when no external signal is present
-Gate input for Release or Sustain/Release
-Release CV input for voltage control of Release time
-VCF audio input with attenuator, for introducing external audio
-VCF CV input with attenuator (1V/oct CV is normalised to this input)
-VCA audio input (VCF is normalised to this input)
-VCA CV input (Release CV is normalised to this input)
-Release CV output
-VCO audio output
-VCF audio output
-VCA audio output"

The Classic Oberheim OB-8 - Basic Programming Tutorial

The Oberheim OB-8 is a subtractive analog synthesizer launched by Oberheim in early 1983 and discontinued in 1985. As the fourth product in the OB-series of polyphonic compact synthesizers, the OB-8 was the successor to the OB-Xa. The number of production was about 3,000 units.

The OB-8 features eight-voice polyphony, two-part multi-timbrality, a 61-note processor-controlled piano keyboard, sophisticated programmable LFO and envelope modulation, two-pole and four-pole filters, arpeggiator, external cassette storage, MIDI capability and 120 memory patches, 24 bi-timbral patches, and used the Z80 CPU. The musician's interface also consists of two pages of front panel programmable controls, left panel performance controls and a set of foot pedals and switches."

"This track starts with a PAD sound sequenced and played by the Elektron Digitone (Polyphonic Digital Synthesizer). I then enable the Doubletracker effect (on the Strymon Deco 2 tape simulation pedal) and unmute 2 other tracks on the Digitone, playing a LEAD and CHIMES sounds.

Enters the Korg Drumlogue (analog and digital drum machine) with some DRUMS (I used only one drum pattern where I made use of STEP probability to add some variations to the pattern).

And finally the BASS line played by the Sequential Take 5, sequenced by one MIDI track of the Digitone. In order to create this beefy dirty BASS sound, I use the onboard OVERDRIVE and DISTORTION effect of the synth! 😎🤘 The BASS line is also playing in triplets to add an odd groove to the track (it wasn't so easy to program on the Digitone MIDI track as I needed to shift each notes off the grid manually 😅).

I have had quite a few requests to make my banks smaller to allow people to buy the patches in stages, so Volume.1 is also just complete and live on the Site,

The entire of Vol.1 and Vol.2 are using UB-Xa Atrophy setting No 1 - Ue/XW so no need to change any settings. I supply my voice panning settings in the pack instructions, but that can be changed to suit the users taste :)"
