Lyra-8 - Everything I *Think* I Know

video upload by Oscillator Sink

"This is my 3rd attempt to make a 'guide' to the Lyra-8. It's an instrument that is, in some ways, difficult to talk about - it has a cyclical nature that requires you to explain ideas before you explain them. The approach I've settled on is to try and address 4 main areas as holistically as possible in order to share some useful tips, creative approaches and some practical and technical techniques that will, hopefully do some combination of: introduce some new ideas, problem solve and inspire some new approaches to this magical instrument.

Wish me luck!

Chapters:

02:10 Tuning and Balancing
08:28 Playing Techniques
15:37 Embracing the Organismic

Zeptocore - a live looping sampler

video upload by Floyd Steinberg

"The Zeptocore (https://zeptocore.com ) is a sample looper and live remixing device based on the RPI2040. I bought this as a DIY kit a year ago and somehow managed to read to build instructions incorrectly. :-) But I finally picked myself up to repair it, so here's the video. Table of contents:

00:00 hi / what is this?
00:32 what's in the DIY kit
00:52 assembling (do not copy what I did there)
01:58 firmware updates available
02:06 basic workflow
02:38 UI layout
02:55 walking to some of the basic functions
03:38 jump, mash and bass mode
04:43 loading a very basic drumloop to play single drum sounds
05:06 extracting the zip file correctly
05:26 loading your loop on the Zeptocore
05:44 playing seperate samples
05:53 walking through more functions (retriggering, relooping, randomizing, recording sequences, effects, layering, etc etc)
09:22 improvisation with Montage M8X, Zeptocore
10:48 conclusion (please support this channel)

Lightweight Arduino ESP32 MIDI Sequencer + Live-Looping Session Demo

video upload by Marcel Licence

"I built a small MIDI sequencer for Arduino ESP32 synthesizer projects.
With it you can:
Record, play back, and overdub notes.
Use many slots - record a new loop and switch slots while it plays.
Change the tempo anytime, even during playback.
Set the loop length and the number of pre-count bars before you start.
Play it together with my polyphonic e-piano project.

The firmware is still work-in-progress.
I am fixing bugs to keep it stable and to remove short audio pauses that happen when the memory moves data."

Additional SYNTH CITY Listings

"The Drone Lab is a 4 voice analog drone synth, rhythm generator and FX processor. The Lab has an external input with pre amp which accepts audio signals from any audio source including microphone, guitar, keyboard and other Drone Labs. External signals can be mixed with the existing drone and run through the lab’s filter and distortion circuits.

The Lab also features a clock interface which allows the internal rhythm clock to be linked with a variety of external clocks."

"Excellent condition uber rare OB-1 by Oberheim. This has been serviced and works like it should, smooth knobs and no scratchy ish. Holds tune like a champ."

Layered Tensions: 10 Cables

video upload by Maknouchi

"Improvised modular synth performance using Serge Easel system, TKB touch keyboard sequencer, and the Crocodile module. Exploring generative patches, analog textures, ambient noise, and chaotic control voltages.

A 10-cable patch introducing instability to the envelope via pitch CV and comparator output. Layered through looping, the structure reveals Serge’s nuanced volatility—uncertainty and motion coexisting within minimal constraints.

Here is a list of the gear I used for this video :

Ambient w/ norns shield, Field Kit, piezo | Artificial Sea 2025-05-18

video upload by atnr

"A piece created with Norns Shield, modular synth, piezo elements, and a ‪@KOMAelektronik‬ Field Kit. Long electronic tones mingle with ocean-like sounds and fragmented radio voices.

Norns Shield: Runs sines ( https://norns.community/sines ) to generate a drone.

Marble & can piezo: A piezo pickup is attached to the underside of a tin can filled with marbles, routed into the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II for reverb and micro-looping.

Noise box: Fed through ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY for filtering and reverb.

Field Kit: Mixes an FM-radio feed with noise from Mutable Instruments Braids, then sends the blend into Clouds for granular processing."

Pure Analog Polyphony with the VAEMI Modular System #eurorack #osiop #xfmr #vca #subtractive #synth

video upload by Vaemi

"Pure Analog Polyphony with the VAEMI Modular System
Most polyphonic synthesizers are hybrid designs that combine digital control with analog sound generation. In modular systems, however, building a truly pure analog polyphony can be both challenging and deeply rewarding.

In this video, we created a fully analog polyphonic structure using the VAEMI modular system. We used sawtooth waveforms on all oscillators. With 3 OSI-OP modules, we achieved 3-voice polyphony. By using VAEMI Analog Sequencers, we provided dedicated voltage control for each oscillator, resulting in a completely analog polyphonic sequencer.

The signal path was processed through our prototype analog filter module, creating a classic subtractive synthesis architecture. The entire system was synchronized via clock signals from the Beatstep Pro. The final recording was passed through an RE-201, adding a classic tape delay and spring reverb atmosphere.

Sometimes, chasing sound takes you back in time.
This pure analog polyphonic structure we built with VAEMI blends the feeling of the past with the modular technology of today.
You'll know what we mean when you hear it."
