Ambient w/ GAME BOY & OP-1 field, MOOD MK II | Premier 2025-06-27 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A minimal-ambient piece for Game Boy and ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, where the Game Boy’s rustic chip tones weave through soft synth layers.

Game Boy: Sequence built in LSDj. The output runs into a ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II, adding reverb, pitch-shifts, and occasional micro-loops.

OP-1 field: A prerecorded rhythm pattern loops while new synth parts are played live. The signal passes through a ‪@strymon‬ Strymon TIMELINE for delay.

Xylophone & harp phrases: Provided by a YAMAHA MOTIF-RACK ES."

NINA Multi-Track Sequencer: Working with Noise Types and Percussive Hits

video upload by Melbourne Instruments

"In this video we look at how to use the additional 64 noise types that have been added as part of NINA's 2.0 Multi-Track Sequencer update. The additional noise types are now part of NINA's incredible analog synth engine and can be used as a powerful resource for creating drum and percussive sounds and great for sound design purposes.

These percussive hits and drum sounds turn NINA into a monster groovebox. This guide shows you how to access different noise types, noise settings and how to sequence multiple noise types in a single track for multitimbral sequencing using only one track of NINA's four available tracks, per pattern.

00:00 intro/overview
00:41 accessing noise types
01:17 audio preview of noise types
01:45 noise settings
02:18 sequencing noise
03:43 adding different noise type to the same track
04:23 fixing phase issue with Track Voice settiing
05:02 adding another noise type to the same track
05:26 Cut & Paste steps
05:58 front panel
07:00 mixing other oscillators with noise
07:50 outro

NINA has been updated with a powerful Multi-Track Sequencer mode for poly-rhythmic pattern creation with step-based control and performance across four independent tracks. Introducing a new polyphonic, polymeter sequencer with per-step parameter locking and front panel automation powered by Melbourne Instrument's revolutionary motorized knob technology. Additionally, this update adds 64 new noise types to NINA's incredible synth engine, expanding the possibilities for greater sound design. The new noise types include various percussion hits, digital, metal and assorted noise types, as one-shot or loops giving more scope for creating percussive sounds. The new sequencer mode adds time-based features like shuffle, micro-timing, clock multiplication, variable gate lengths, and probability options, offering fresh ways to control NINA's sound.

Faded photograph | Tranquil ambient with Rhodes piano, Prophet VS, Alvarez 12, and FM3 pedal

video upload by MIDERA

"It's been a month. As I said, my wife lost her job in May. We hoped she would get a job that seemed like a great fit, someone had reached out to her and said she'd be perfect. Guess they didn't think so later. Oh well.

I did manage to extract all the audio from my old Roland VS-840GX. I kind of wish I was still recording using that thing, it was so good for just sitting down without a screen and recording whatever I wanted, but using a DAW is just so much nicer.

I had half written the rhodes part on this track, when I ended up recording something else that I plan to put into a rock track (yes, I am trying to get back into writing that type of music). Came back to this last night and recorded this, with some changes. Funny how walking away and coming back to something helps you change it for the better.

I used the Fractal Audio FM3 as a looper to loop the first part and then played everything else over it. The Rhodes and Prophet VS was performed in one go, the guitar was done in a second round with Eventide Blackhole VST for reverb.

Well, I hope you enjoy this - my first track written in a month."

Yamaha DD6 1989 Circuit Bent Drum Machine + Joystick Controller

via this Reverb listing

"Yamaha DD-6 1989 drum machine featuring a 17-point modulation patch bay and pitch controller. The unit also includes an externally connected joystick module for manual activation of four additional modulation effects which are also combined on the diagonal axes for further processing options. Two latching/ momentary pre-set effect switches are also featured on this unit.

These custom modifications unlock an array of original sounds and rhythmic variations; making a single connection on the patch matrix can dramatically alter the output but applying multiple connections produces an increasingly complex, sometimes aleatoric range of reversed, tonal, bit crushed, flanged, distorted, aliasing and delayed sounds, additional accents, rhythmic patterns and digital noise. Additionally, the five included patch cables can be stacked for further sonic manipulation.

The patch bay and joystick affect the 100 tempo adjustable onboard rhythms and the velocity sensitive drum pads. The unit functions as normal when the patch bay is not implemented.

Mains (9- 12v DC) and battery powered (6 x AA), features a 1/4" output, no onboard speaker.

Dimensions: 42cm (L) x 27cm (W) x 12cm (H)."

Dr. Endo explores LIVEN Evoke: Tear

Tear

It rained today here in Tokyo, where the SONICWARE office is located.
The atmosphere was just right, so I jammed on the LIVEN Evoke with rain and a post-classical mood in mind.

I think I managed to capture the feeling of a calm, structured bowing pattern on the violin quite naturally.
This was achieved by setting longer gate times for the violin, creating a smooth and sustained bowing expression.
The bass line is played on contrabass.
The piano has a subtle touch of GRAIN FX, adding delicate, shimmering high-end grains that color the space gently.
One more track was dedicated entirely to noise, helping to create a sense of space with depth—like a quiet rainfall.
