In the 1990s, PCM synths were at their peak, but club scene artists were already searching for a more flexible, analog sound, hinting at the coming analog revival of the 2000s.

It was in this context that the Prophecy was announced in 1995, offering more flexibility and timbral capabilities than ever before heard. Defined by the cutting edge digital signal processing technology and a DSP chip formerly used exclusively for effects processing, the Prophecy Solo Synthesizer is now available as a software plugin, with the ease of use, polyphony, and modern features necessary for today’s music production.

KORG Collection - Prophecy, a legendary physical modeling synthesizer developed with the aim of offering freedom of expression beyond analog synthesizers and unprecedented sound creation possibilities, has evolved even further in its expressive capabilities. In version 1.5, the quirks of the hardware Prophecy can now be expressed even more precisely thanks to deeper creative input from the brilliant minds in the original Prophecy development team.

Version 1.5 also adds 180 new programs. This unique sound collection brings out the individuality of the Prophecy, ranging from fresh, software-only sounds to those that pay homage to the original Prophecy and pushes monophonic sound design to all new levels.

Prophecy for Mac/Win uses software to fully reproduce the original Prophecy’s MOSS (Multi-Oscillator Synthesis System) and is equipped with five of the seven total oscillator types:

Standard Oscillator for Analog Synth Sounds
Noise + Comb Filtering
VPM (Variable Phase Modulation)
Cross / Ring / Modulation and Sync
Physical Modeling (Brass Model Oscillator, Reed Model Oscillator and Plucked String Oscillator)


The sounds from each oscillator model can be processed using a nonlinear wave shaper. In addition to the oscillator and wave shaper sections, there is also a sub oscillator and noise generator.

"This listing is for two rare rack units by Roland that will let you turn your voice into robots, aliens, or just plain old voltages: the SVC-350 Vocoder and the SPV-355 Pitch to Voltage Synthesizer. The video in the photos section of this listing is of the actual unit.

The SPV-355 allows you to take audio and convert it into pitch voltages, envelopes, and gates to use on other equipment. It’s also a nice two-VCO synthesizer itself, with filter and envelope controls.

The SVC-350 is a coveted Vocoder, allowing you to connect synthesizers, drum machines, guitars and, of course, a microphone, and get either a fully wet vocoded version or a blend of the dry and wet.

Both work well, but both are old. This means you need to use them regularly or they can develop a little bit of scratch when turning the knobs.

"I was planning on making a quick simple sequence on the UDO Super 6 but ended up building it out into a full song and it turned out pretty nice. Lead melody and Pads are the UDO Super 6. Bass is the Moog Mother 32. Drums are the Dave Smith Tempest. Effects from the Strymon Bigsky Mx and the GFI Specular Tempus."

Noodling with reSEMble

"PM Foundations recently re-stocked a limited number of reSEMble PCB/Panel sets, and this may very well be the last time. If you’re unfamiliar with reSEMble, it is a tribute to the Oberheim SEM, but more of an SEM 2.0. Have a look at the other relevant videos on my channel for more sounds and info. This is not the most visually exciting video, I was really more interested in demoing the sound. reSEMble provides the leads, odd percussion and sound effect bits. Drums are courtesy of an Alesis SR-16.

The first part of the video (first verse I suppose) uses the reSEMble in a configuration that duplicates the SEM – two VCOs, LP VCF, 2 EGs and a triangle LFO. Bass for the verses is from a Behringer Minimoog and a custom-modified Behringer TD-3. Chords for the verses comes from a 1980 dual manual Prophet 10.

The first chorus adds a third VCO and sine LFO. Bass is provided by a Minimoog (first re-issue) and the chords are again from the Prophet 10. The second verse brings in the wavefolder. The second chorus is similar to the first. The odd percussion and sound effect stuff bring in some audio rate exponential FM. The final chorus uses the wavefolder with the VCOs mixed in."

Cinefreak 📽️ (Arturia Minifreak ; Conductive Labs NDLR Sequencer) #OneSynthOnly

"My first video with the Arturia Minifreak! What and amazing and versatile synth! Was really impressed of how it sounds and all the features it has in such a small form factor 🤩

As usual, I recorded this jam only a couple of hours after getting the Minifreak, it's really very easy to get started with!

However it did take me a lot of time to record all the parts in multitrack (though it is a OneSynthOnly jam), mix the audio and edit the video, really hope you'll enjoy it ☺️

Here's how I proceeded:
I first "played" the NDLR sequencer and recorded the MIDI notes on 4 different tracks for the BASS (= DRONE track on the NDLR), PADS, MOTIF-1 and MOTIF-2.

Then I sent the MIDI notes from each track to the Minifreak and tweaked the knobs etc. in real-time (except for the LEAD part which I played throughout in real-time).
