OPL Studio + Korg NTS-3 + Phantasmal Force generative improvisation inspiration
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Phantasmal Force micro midi controller is available here:
https://distropolisgoods.com/
I haven’t posted in a little while … i’ve been working on the beta firmware for the Phantasmal Force for several months. Here is an improvisational demonstration of the new ARP button mode.
I’m triggering the OPL Studio with three different sequences sent from the Phantasmal Force. The OPL studio is multi timbral so it is capable of playing back different FM tones on each midi channel. It is an amazing device for those looking to explore 80s FM sounds within the context of a hypothetical OS developed to control all of the OPL chip parameters. Truly incredible.

The NTS-3 takes a bit of learning, but is slowly becoming a fave of mine for adding reverb, delays and interactive effects. Such a great deal for what it costs.
I’m hoping to release a version 2.0 of the Phantasmal Force firmware within the next couple weeks … maybe even sooner. With that, I intend to release a kit version for sale as well."

LOFI uTape Scrubber - uDelay Cassette loop prototype
video upload by Beepboop Electronics
You can find details on the uTape Scrubber here and additional posts via the Beep Boop label.
"I wanted to see how possible it would be to turn the uTape scrubber into a delay without modifying it......
I've made standard cassettes with extra heads in before but never a micro cassette!
The result are pretty lofi! The high frequencies are lost due to difficulty maintianing tape tension and head contact as there is no tensioner.....
I added a small spring mechnism into the casette whoich helped.
If the tape was only to move in one direction the concept would be much easier to do but with a reversible motor there is alot more to go wrong!"

Sax In The Acid Rain (Sequential OB-6, Pro-2, Doctor A, QuadraVerb, MIDIVerb II)
video upload by hypergol
"I got a real camera. You'll know the shots when you see them. Unfortunately I don't have a tripod yet so most of the footage is from my phone, which sucks in low light. Anyways... I've had this little movie "epilogue" like riff on the OB-6 for awhile now. Perfect for walking down the dark streets in a deluge of dystopian acid rain. It just needs a sweet sax lead over the top. I spent quite a few hours trying to get a saxxy sound out of the Pro-2. I figure it's the best synth I got for taking on that daunting task. I'm using both filters, all 5 envelopes, every type of drive, all character FX, linear FM, and just a bit of the onboard delay for some width and depth. It sounds pretty reedy in the lower registers but rounds out as you move up the keyboard. The OB sound is classic. Not much to say about that. Generous amounts of delay and reverb courtesy the Audiothingies Doctor A and then I'm running everything through a MIDIVerb II + QuadraVerb combo as a master reverb, which completes the future dystopian from an 80's low-budget movie perspective feels. "Sax in the Rain" was already taken. So you get a half-baked title to go with a half-baked 4K video and a half-baked thumbnail and a half-baked performance with a full-on run-on sentence. Someday I'll rework this into something proper and release it.
Update: I did a proper release of this song with new performances, synths, and additional sonic elements. Check it out on the Afterburner XXIV album over at https://hypergol.bandcamp.com"
'Creepy Soundtrack 15' - Yamaha CS-15 + Arturia Keystep 2 Voice,1 Synth Jam
video upload by DreamsOfWires
"The Yamaha CS-15 has two complete synth voices, so here I'm using the Hz/Volts mode of the @ArturiaOfficial Keystep to control one voice, and the synth keyboard to control the other. This time I'm channeling my affection for 70s/80s horror movie soundtracks (again), particulary John Carpenter, although I've missed Halloween by a few days.
Using the two voices independently reduces the sonic possibilities of the synth, and they share a single audio output, but it can be quite fun to see what can be squeezed out of a single vintage synth of the 1970's.
As a single monophonic synth the CS-15 is very unique and surprisingly flexible, as it has two of almost everything (2x VCO, multi-mode VCF, ADSR, VCA), but only one LFO, and the otherwise independent voices (both of which have their own CV & Gate inputs) are both routed to the same audio outputs (high & low), which is a bit of a bummer.
Anyway, I don't suppose it was intended to replace two single oscillator monosynths, and this is from the late 70's, so it's a pretty killer design when viewed in context. I can imagine it being super-useful in a minimal, early synthpop band on a budget."
