Squarp Instruments rampleOS 2.0

video upload by Squarp instruments

"Step on the gas and install the #rampleOS 2.0 new firmware!

Thanks to a major rework of the OS, this upgrade includes an overall better sound quality and an improved latency.

On top of that, the effects Freeze and Bitcrusher have been redesigned, and the parameters Start and Sample Length are now exponential to facilitate the fine-editing of your samples.

Wake The Dead - Forgotten Synth Jams with Squarp Pyramid

video upload by MR TUNA Music

"Found this on my hard drive today and I wondered.... did I ever post this to Youtube?? I really tried to check but there's too many jams and I could have named it something stupid. In any case---- check out this forgotten gem from the long ago lost worlds of 2021 when my cameras were worse but the jams were still pretty cool ๐Ÿ‘"

From scratch - Needles ๐Ÿงต (Perfourmer Mk2 + Superego+ + H9 // Deco v2 // Simplifier Dlx // Hapax)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"This is a 'from scratch' jam featuring only one instrument, the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2, 4-voice analog synth. I've used its individual outputs for the BASS which is being saturated with the Deco v2 pedal, and LEAD through the Simplifier Dlx analog amp.
The PLUCK riff is being fed into the Superego Plus synth-freeze engine and H9 delay.

The PLUCK and BASS are being sequenced and the LEAD played live on the Hapax hardware sequencer.

I used the RANDOMIZER and SCALE MIDI effects of the Hapax in order to transpose occasionally and randomly the PLUCK (for the riff to be a bit more interesting ๐Ÿ˜Š).
The PLUCK is also being turned sometimes into a PAD when I activate (green button) the Superego+ pedal."

painting with sound ... tempera & hapax ... ambient

video upload by substan

"After the Tempera received a ton of new features with the new 1.5 firmware (which is currently still in beta), it has developed into a fantastic playground for sound paintings in the few months of its life.

A performance on the new Beetlecrab.audio Tempera & Squarp instruments Hapax. Source Audio Ventris for reverb.

Recorded in one take into Ableton Live.
Mastered in post with a hybrid setup.

Canvas, project file and music are available for my patrons.
The great support from my patrons makes all of this possible ... thank you so much guys !!

Fissure ๐Ÿ’” (Hapax 2.0 // Perfourmer Mk2 + H9 + Pill // TR6S // LXR02 // JU06 + Deco v2)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"February 2024, back to the 2-Minute format! (well actually it was a 4:30 jam with a bridge, an outro with different chords etc. but had to justify a bit the name of the channel I think ๐Ÿ˜…)

This jam is built around a 10-step pattern from the Hapax sequencing the Perfourmer (through the H9 reverb and Pill ducking pedal, triggered by a GATE track from the Hapax). To make this 10-step pattern which drives the whole track sound a bit more complex, I made it play with 3 different voices of the Perfourmer (this is one of the main reasons I bought a Perfourmer a few years ago!). Hence each note is playing a voice with a different oscillator. So it's a 10-step sequence where the oscillators are being played in round robin mode each 3 notes. To make it even more spicy, I also used the Hapax's real-time RANDOMIZER MIDI effect which is transposing some notes randomly!

For the PERCUSSIVE parts, we are in a more classic mode with the main DRUMS being played by the TR-6S and the secondary DRUMS by the LXR-02 (both still sequenced by the Hapax).

And the BASS, is being played by the JU-06A through the DECO v2 pedal."

The Great Hapax Experiment Vol. 1 - Squarp Hapax sequencing loads of stuff and Cocoquantus improvs

video upload by -CALC-

"Sat with this one quite a bit for quite a bit.... kept it unlisted for over a year but after some revisits thought maybe its time to put it out there. Still stand by what I initially thought, its a "Curate's egg... Good in parts". Squarp and Coco were still newish at the time of this jam so still finding the feels.

This is what I thought of it back then:

I got a new brain!

Here's a full 45 minute noodle with the incredible Squarp Hapax front and centre. To say this is the most powerful hardware sequencer I have ever got my hands on is a total understatement.

WARNING This pretty experimental jam is not for the faint hearted in certain sections. Focussing on Hapax and the CocoQuantus it gets noisy and out there but that's what I love these days.

It was improvised and live-sequenced over a couple of initially formed sequences.
There are good bits but also some really bad sections in the middle too. I considered cutting these out but that would be a hard edit and they eventually do settle down.
I'd say the worst bits are:
20:30 - 21:26 (shitty idea to try and record a kick bass line without tuning the kick!)
28:39 - 29:42 (combo of not realising that the 1010 Blue box was turned down and having a few moments of forgetting how the CocoQuantus worked... oh and a pesky Buchla sequence I forgot to stop!)

Hapax is firing off and controlling a ton of stuff in the room:
Circuit Rhythm
Ciat Lonbarde CocoQuantus (clocking the loopers)
Nord Drum 3p
Rossum Electro Assimil8or (through CV.OCD)
Meng Qi Wingie 2
Novation Summit - also acting as a controller keyboard for everything in the set-up
Buchla 208C
Norns (running Plonky Script for multisamples)
Just Friends in polysynth mode
Vongon Polyphrase
Vongon Ultrasheer
Mutable Instruments Beads
and some dodgy singing
All connected via Hapax's MIDI Outs and a Conductive Labs MRCC"

Controlling the the whole studio with a vintage Roland arranger

video upload by MR TUNA Music

"I LOVE ARRANGERS ⚡️⚡️ Maybe they are a little cheesy but I've got the classic 1993 Roland RA-95 connected to the whole studio through the Squarp Instruments Hapax sequencer & I am just having a blast controlling it all with the ROLI Lumi Keys ๐Ÿ™

Just listen to that bass!

Prophet-6 ➡️ bass
OB-6 ➡️ back up chords
Juno-106 ➡️ more chords
System-8 ➡️ the lead
Jupiter-80 ➡️ drums"

DAWlessly Recreating Cafรฉ Del Mar on mostly 90s synths

video upload by Bleeps and Boops

"Sadly I don't own any of the JP8K or Access Virus synths, so most of Ferry Corsten's output is out... as is Xpander!

Synths are the Nord Lead 2X, Roland JV1080, Moog Sub 37, Yamaha TX81Z, plus the Akai S3000XL. Sequencing is on the Squarp Hapax, reverb is from the Alesis Quadraverb."

House 90 ๐ŸŽน (Hapax sequencer // JD08 // 0Coast + Apocalypse + H9 // Nymphes + Julianna + Pill // S1)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"The Squarp Hapax is probably one of the most powerful hardware sequencer I've used ๐Ÿคฉ In this video it's at the heart of the setup, sequencing the Roland JD-08 (synth & piano chords), the Make Noise 0-Coast (tonal kick) and the Dreadbox Nymphes (pulsing bass). The Roland S-1 is being played in real-time on the bridge part.

I used a lot of features of the Hapax in this video:
- The Euclid and Swing midi effects for the synth and piano chords
- The conditional trigs to add fills etc., chance (probability for some notes to play or not) and roll
- CC automation, used to modulate the cutoff, noise oscillator on the bassline played by the Nymphes
- CV modulation on the 0-Coast (you can see the signals being sent by the red/green connectors at the back of the Hapax)
- The transpose within scale feature, where with one track (track 16), you can transpose in real time - or record the transpositions (I used both here) - all the patterns playing on the other tracks.

* Hardware used *

// SYNTH & PIANO CHORDS:
- Roland JD-08 (digital 128-voice, bi-timbral synth)

// TONAL KICK:
- Make Noise 0-Coast + Death by Audio Apocalypse (fuzz pedal) + Eventide H9 Max (bandpass delay)

// BASS:
- Dreadbox Nymphes (6-voice analog synth) + Walrus Audio Julianna (analog chorus/vibrato) + Pill (analog ducking pedal)

// LEAD:
- Roland S-1 (4-voice digital synth, inspired by the famous mono synth SH-101)

// SEQUENCER:
- Squarp Hapax (dual-project sequencer, 16 tracks per project, 8 patterns per track, 8 effects per track, algorithmic tools, MIDI, CV, etc.)"

10-07-23 Live Ambient Modular Synthesizer performance

video upload by david rothbaum

"The main instrument here is the Assimil8or. I sampled harmonics on my Fender Bass VI for a project with @jonat8han a little while back then yesterday I created a simplified version of that instrument on the Assimil8or using the new midi expander to make it polyphonic.

Sequencing - @squarpinstruments Hermod +
Delay - @intellijel Sealegs
Bass - Atlantis
Mixed with heavy use of the internal limiter - @noiseeng Xer Mixa

Thanks for listening."
