"LFO Store presents a revolutionary soundset for Moog Mother-32 - a semi-modular monophonic analog synthesizer! A feature of this bank is the use of non-standard modulation techniques with the mixture of external audio noise effects (samples). Therefore, very interesting sounds are obtained, which are suitable for both classical electronic music and experimental styles.

In this soundbank you will find completely different settings - from long and atmospheric drone effects, short plucks, catchy leads and even pads that can be layered for a bright analog sound! Each patch is sketched in detail and accompanied by a description of the preferred modulation parameters and the external sounds used. These patches will be very handy for both live performances and studio work.

This year, our team has implemented the Analog 2023 Series project and has already created several hundred patches for analog synthesizers such as Wasp, Cat, Neutron and others. Thus, we have accumulated considerable experience in creating quality products for analog synthesizers. This soundset is suitable for both professionals who are interested in improving their skills, and beginners, who just started their first sound design steps.

"The first recording with Minimoog synthesizer (Model B prototype) - Sun Ra And His Astro Infinity Arkestra – ‘My Brother The Wind’ (1970)

In 1969, Sun Ra had recorded on Moog Modular synthesizer at the New York midtown studio of Gershon Kingsley. Those recordings were issued on My Brother the Wind, Vol. 1 (although it was not titled 'Vol. 1'— it only achieved that reference after 'Vol. 2' appeared). The following year, drummer Tommy Hunter arranged a meeting between Sun Ra and synth pioneer Robert Moog in upstate Trumansburg, New York. Bob and his crew were testing prototypes of the Minimoog at that time, inviting Sun Ra to explore its sounds. A recording of this test session was made and, although not originally intended for commercial release, partly released many years later in 1992 (My Brother the Wind, Vol. 2, CD tracks 7-11: The Wind Speaks, Sun Thoughts, Journey to the Stars, World of the Myth 'I', The Design - Cosmos II). But more significantly, it was during this visit that Moog loaned Sun Ra a prototype Minimoog (Model B), several months before the commercial instrument (Model D) was introduced in March 1970. Ra immediately added the instrument to his repertoire of keyboards, later acquired a second, and featured the Minimoog prominently on many of his recordings of the early 1970s. Sun Ra sometimes played two Minimoogs at the same time to achieve a duophonic synthesizer sound.

Last in the chain is a Yester Versio module. If you hear a regular delay, it's that, not the Praetereo. And occasionally I bring in the Yester wavefolder. If you hear effects happening but don't see my hand making them, it's the Yester.

To properly explore it I asked them if they could adapt their beautiful Tape and Microsound system around it. In this video I explore this "Spectral Sound System" on its own, with other synthesizers, samples and field recordings. I find it adds a unique texture to sound which reminds me of John Chowning's works, the alien worlds of early DSP."

A live, semi-improvised synth jam performed entirely on hardware.

This one came together unexpectedly as I was wrapping up a longer video on some of my favourite gear (spoiler alert). I stumbled into some ideas with the Octatrack and Cosmos, and added the closest synth on hand—the Roland SH-4D, which I just got and am exploring—to fill in the gaps. Add in a sample from an old favourite and the song was complete. The Cosmos always creates music that sounds like the music in my dreams, ambient and blurred, ideas reverberating across the sonic space.

Synthwave Astrophotography Adventures

"My love of astrophotography and synthesizers has combined forces once again in my latest collection of images put to music. This journey through the cosmos represents almost 60 individual processed images/videos, each of which may be comprised of hundreds of exposures! The sounds were from the Arturia Polybrute, Korg OPSIX / OPSIX native VST, Korg miniKORG 700fs VST and Addictive Drums II.

Much of the imaging was done at my favorite dark sky site, the Pemigewasset Overlook in Lincoln, NH. But many of the long total exposure deep-space images came from home under my light pollution with the astro camera and filters. I listed some of the dorky details below:
