"Roland JD-800 in a custom white by Custom Synths UK

We've been told only two of these are around. One for the band Kaiser Chiefs, and this one."

Dave of The Packrat had one. You can find pics and demos in the archives here.

Update via customsynth in the comments in response to a question asking if it was the Gandalf JD-800: "hi no not gandolf , that one has dave on the back , kaisers dont own a jd800 in white , but do have a few other synths in white , as far as i remember i only painted 3 or 4 jd800s in white , with this one having line art for the graphics , jeff customsynth"

Demons actually raised by trillion-note synthesizer wizardry by a man in his pajamas

Published on Mar 25, 2017

With a custom white Roland JD-800 no less.

"Here's a performance of 'Fractal 1' off my 1998 Parallax CD 'umop apisdn' available at umop.com/parallax.htm for five tiny dollars.

I have a chest cold and accidentally took the Nighttime DM Extra Strength Robitussin this morning, so now I am convinced that I have travelled back in time from 2080 to play the music that your great grandchildren are already tired of. Enjoy!

AHNE 2011 Pics

flickr set by alt_mode

"Analogue Heaven North East (AHNE) 2011 on April 16th, 2011 at the 119 Gallery (119gallery.org) in Lowell, MA."

flickr set by Doctor Analog

Click each link above for the corresponding set. See the AHNE label below for more posts. Video here.

Some custom gear: Pro-One is what I'm guessing is a Synthwood case. Custom white JX-3P and JD-800 which I'm guessing are Dave's of umop.com, done by customsynth.co.uk. Note the yellow EMS SYNTHI-E. Red MacBeth M5N.

RAB Meets Playboy

via Dave of umop.com and creator of our favorite synth rat, The Packrat: "Just working on a cartoon for playboy.com featuring characters from Retarded Animal Babies. This pic shows a scene with the Hamster character playing on a 90% autobiographical synth rig. There's a weird red & grey keyboard that's totally made-up, otherwise it's my Plastica rig. The Axis keytar isn't done yet, but Customsynth will be finishing it in the hopefully not-too-distant future. The white JD-800 ("Gandalf") that he made is in there, a boring ol' TR-61, and a Nord Lead Anniversary. The brand names have all been changed, since these companies may not want to be associated with completely filthy animations." :) Note Dave also plays in Paralax. You can find a few of his vids previously posted here.

The Leper - live prog keyboard million-note performance

YouTube via hamsterdunce

"More music on umop.com/parallax.htm Here's another version of my original song "The Leper" from my album "umop apisdn." Performed live at the Downtown Cafe in quasi-beautiful Bristol, CT."

The white Roland JD-800 on the lose. Note hamsterdunce is David C. Lovelace of http://umop.com/. He is the man behind The Packrat (scroll and click on the images when you get there), and he does the artwork for Metasonix. He also did the Matrix Packrate drawing for me on the right of this site. :) Dave rocks. You can find more info on his music projects including videos here, man of which have been featured here on MATRIXSYNTH.

White JD-800 synth - Gandalf

via Dave

"Hello...

Thought y'all would get a kick out of a Flickr set from today's adventure... took the afternoon to re-assemble my trusty, 16-year-old Roland JD-800 using newly customized white body work. The board was originally grey.... "Gandalf the Grey. Yes, that was my name. Now, I'm Gandalf the White."

flickr set

Only a couple of you will know what a Roland SH-101 is, but it's a legendary '80s synth with a lot of similar hardware (sliders, etc.) to the JD. Gandalf was designed to look like a white version of that model. The design, paint, and screen work were all painstakingly done by Jeff at CustomSynth..... This bloke does truly amazing, magical things to synths. If you have any interest at all too see similar cool creations, check out his gallery.

Anyway, the JD is assembled, home, and working & looking perfectly... ready to "rokk out..."
