DRONE BATTLE // Polygogo vs Cloud Terrarium

Genshi Media Group

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES AND STEREO EFFECTS, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

I thought I'd have fun and do an experimental Drone Battle between the E-RM Polygogo and the Synthesis Technology Cloud Terrarium modules. Both modules are being modulated by the XAOC Devices Batumi (my favorite LFO!) and after demonstrating the dry signal, a touch of Reverb is added in post using Valhalla VintageVerb.

Published on May 8, 2020 Genshi Media Group

"::| WARNING! EXTREME FREQUENCIES AHEAD! USE CAUTION... BUT A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE STILL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES AND STEREO EFFECTS |::

Further explorations of various patches (some from the original ARP 2600 Patch Book but with my own variations applied) on the Korg ARP 2600 FS... in five parts. Effects from the built-in Spring Reverb of the ARP 2600 and from the Make Noise Mimeophon. Timestamps for each patch are as follows:

00:03 - Triple Timings
04:50 - Tubular Chimes
09:13 - Eastern String Duo
12:51 - Marimba-ish
19:22 - My Lead Patch"

A simple sequence with the Korg ARP 2600FS. Delay from the Make Noise Mimeophon. Sorry the image quality is so terrible, I don't know what happened...

KORG ARP 2600FS // Feedback Exploration with Make Noise Mimeophon

Published on Apr 17, 2020 Genshi Media Group

"::| WARNING!!! EXTREME FREQUENCIES AHEAD! A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE STILL RECOMMENDED WITH CAUTION |::

This is an exploration of extreme frequencies and feedback with the Korg ARP 2600FS. All of the distorted beefy sounds are from patching the VCA Output of the ARP 2600 into its own Pre-Amplifier and back to the VCA. Later on, all of the High-Frequency feedback and Resonator and Karplus-Strong type sounds are from the Make Noise Mimeophon. Next time I'll try to get a second camera on that so you can see what's going on..."

KORG ARP 2600FS // with Make Noise Morphagene & Mimeophon

Published on Apr 16, 2020 Genshi Media Group

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES AND STEREO EFFECTS, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

An exploration of the Korg ARP 2600FS; just plugging things in, seeing what happens... as in the previous video, I start with the raw sounds before bringing in the effects, this time with the Make Noise Morphagene and Mimeophon. Sorry about the excessive noise, I didn't set the levels properly on the Zoom H4n (which is not what I usually use to record my music in the first place.)"

ELEKTRON DIGITAKT // First Quick Test using Original Samples

Published on Jan 4, 2020 Genshi Media Group

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

First quick test of the Elektron Digitakt Drum Computer/Sampler using my own original samples which I sampled from a variety of sources (my Eurorack, objects from around the house, orchestral sound libraries, etc.) I forgot how completely unintuitive Elektron boxes are... after transferring my samples over from my computer, it took me almost an hour just to figure out how to edit and load the first sample into a track! Hopefully, I'll get much better and faster with this."

ASM Hydrasynth // Sine Waves into MS-20 Filter & LPG Models (in two parts)

Published on Dec 21, 2019 Genshi Media Group

"::| WARNING!!! EXTREME FREQUENCIES AHEAD! USE CAUTION |::

This is just a personal test for myself; playing with pure Sine waves into a couple of different filter models to see what kind of tones I can get out of them. In Part One I'm using the Cutoff, Resonance, and Drive of the MS-20 Filter model to get various tones from the Sine waves, and in Part Two I am using the Low Pass Gate model along with Osc Sync and PWM Squeeze to get Bell-like tones. And of course, in Part One, I just couldn't resist adding the Blade Runner lead part-way through the demonstration... I just love that patch!"

ASM Hydrasynth // Multi-tracked

Published on Dec 18, 2019 Genshi Media Group

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

This is a quick little improvised multi-tracked jam on the Ashun Sound Machines Hydrasynth. No other sounds or effects were used other than the Hydrasynth. There is a very low booming kick sound that can only be heard with a good pair of headphones or studio monitors (you will not be able to hear it properly with computer or phone speakers.)"

ASM Hydrasynth // First Test of Custom Presets (in 8 Parts)

Published on Dec 15, 2019 Genshi Media Group

"Immediately after unboxing and before I had the chance to read the manual, I thought I'd spend a couple of hours to see how easy it is to create a handful of patches from scratch. These were the results. I still have a lot to learn about this synth, but so far, it's fairly easy to program thanks to the excellent User Interface created by Ashun Sound Machines."

ARTURIA MICROFREAK // First Test Using Several Original Patches

Published on May 10, 2019 Genshi Media Group

::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

"This is a first quick test of the Arturia MicroFreak synthesizer using original patches I created. I show the dry signal at the beginning of each clip before pairing up the MicroFreak with my two favorite Effects Pedals - the Empress Effects Echosystem Dual Engine Delay, and the Source Audio Ventris Dual Reverb. Unfortunately, I had to send the MicroFreak back just after making this video due to a hardware (firmware?) defect..."
