"This is a magazine cut out from a U.S Music Magazine in that era from my personal collection.

Size - A4

This has been well looked after with minimal signs of wear.

I had the idea to create a montage for a picture frame in my studio for all this RETRO gear, will look great as part of a feature framed on a wall in a studio or creative space."

"Its in truly super condition with hardly any marks on the paintwork, no cracks in the end panels and no damage to the keys. It works nicely and features its original gooseneck, although the mic has been changed (was missing when I bought it)."

EMS Vocoder 3000

"For sale is an insanely rare EMS Vocoder System 3000. A once in a lifetime chance to own one of these? We think so. In our 10+ years of synthesizer hunting, this is the first ever 3000 we have encountered. The 2000 is quite rare, but the 3000 even more so. We've owned almost every major vocoder made (Roland VP330, SVC-350, Korg VC10, EMS 1000/2000, Sennheiser VSM201 (3 total!), Moog Vocoder etc) and to our ears the EMS is the best for dialing in intelligible vocals with synthesized tones. It just sounds excellent, easy to use and all around fantastic vocoder. The EMS 3000 adds level controls for 16 bands which makes it incredibly useful for dialing in more specific tones.

This unit is fully functional, recently serviced and in excellent shape. Don't pass this one up!"

"For sale is an insanely rare EMS Vocoder 1000, from the same company that brought you the Synthi AKS and VCS3. If you've seen Battlestar Galactica you've heard this vocoder as the voice of the Cyclons. An amazing sounding analog vocoder, perhaps the most intelligible ones out there of the Moog / Bode / Sennheiser VSM201 / Roland VP330 SVC-350 / Korg VC10. It just has a very nice tone to it, and most important you can really hear what you're saying without working too hard at it. The 1000 is very similar design as the 2000. In excellent shape and fully functional. I've tried almost all of the ones out there, and if there was one go-to vocoder to use, this one would be it. See pictures below for more details. Don't miss out on this awesome classic!"

Conny Plank's Studio For Sale

Synths include: ARP Sequencer model 1611, Roland JD800, Emulator II, Yamaha DX7-II, Oberheim OBX-a, ARP Odyssey, OSCar, and Korg VC10 vocoder as well as a Fender Rhodes Mark I and Leslie 760 solid state.

Via Music Thing (via this auction). Pics saved below for posterity.

More on Conny Plank on Wikipedia. I first heard of Conny Plank via Ultravox. Some excerpts:

"During the 1970s Conny Plank produced and/or engineered many of the most important recordings by significant German progressive/experimental music acts (given the derogratory label krautrock by the UK music press at the time), including Kraftwerk (Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk 2, Ralf und Florian, Autobahn, and the precursor album Tone Float), Neu! (all their recordings), Cluster, Harmonia, Ash Ra Tempel, Holger Czukay (Can), and Guru Guru. His long association with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster began in 1970 and endured until his death."

"Plank, via Bowie and especially Eno, in turn had a strong influence on many acts of the New Wave period in the late 1970s and 1980s. Neu!'s Hero is said to have been a major influence on John Lydon's work with his post-Sex Pistols group Public Image Limited. Eno produced an album for DEVO (another overseas act strongly influenced by Plank's work) and enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with Talking Heads and David Byrne, followed by an even longer and more successful partnership with Irish band U2. The earlier work of Australian band Hunters & Collectors also showed unmistakeable signs of familiarity with Plank's production techniques, and they were one of many international acts who recorded with him.

Plank's other production credits include Echo and the Bunnymen, Les Rita Mitsouko, Einstürzende Neubauten, Annie Lennox, Astor Piazolla, The Damned, Miranda Sex Garden, DAF (including the classic single Der Mussolini) and Nina Hagen."

"In the eighties Plank remained in high demand with the new generation of electronic pop and New Wave artists, including DEVO, Ultravox! (Systems of Romance, Vienna and Rage in Eden), Freur and The Tourists (Luminous Basement)/Eurythmics (In the Garden). He also worked on pop and rock productions with artists such as The Scorpions, Clannad, Killing Joke, Play Dead, and Gianna Nannini (Latin Lover, Sogno Di Una Notte d'Estate, Tutto Live and others, also credited for music)."

Starter - Lunapark/Minijupe

Published on Feb 11, 2008 de1998

Pure, vintage, gold, synth spotting in via @bengoldacre: "MS20, VC10 and more, in their natural habitat"
There are two sets in the video. See what else you can spot, and do not miss the transition.

"Taken from Starter's CDR/DVDR 'Start', the original Songs can be found there oron their 1981 LP 'Starter'"

Found them on BandCamp (they are also on Spotify and iTunes):

"STARTER was a minimal electronic/synthpop group from Switzerland, formed in 1980 by vocalist and fashion designer Francis Foss, Claudine Chirac (from fellow Swiss Wave group Grauzone) and Jet Harbour. Originally the band also included Stephan Eicher who co-wrote two songs but departed before the band recorded their debut album. STARTER began in the city of Bern when Francis, Claudine and Jet decided to create their own brand of New Wave music inspired by Gary Numan and Kraftwerk. They released their debut, self-titled album STARTER in the summer of 1981, making this summer the 30th anniversary of this long out-of-print and extremely hard to find LP!

Using early analog Roland and Korg synthesizers, STARTER’S music seamlessly merges wistful electronics from Germany’s Neue Deutsche Welle movement and powerful vocal stylings from French Chanson. Alongside their Swiss Wave contemporaries like Grauzone, Yello, Liliputt/Kleenex, STARTER created a new brand of hallucinatory ‘Techno-Pop’ made up of chopped rhythms, energetic and almost epileptic vocals that are immediately catchy and hypnotic, perfect for the dance-floor. In 1985 STARTER reformed as a duo with Francis Foss on vocals again and Gary Grey on synth/rhythm programming. Their first single “Victim” took cues from Italo Disco and Bobby Orlando’s Hi-NRG dance sounds and is the bonus track on Side B of this LP. The song “Part of You” was chosen as the lead track on the Gomma compilation CD Teutonik Disaster 2 in 2003 recruiting new fans worldwide and ushering Francis Foss to release a homemade CD-R/DVD compilation of the entire STARTER discography in 2004.

All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in 2011. Each LP includes a lyrics sheet with unreleased photos and a STARTER badge/button.

Includes unlimited streaming of Starter via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more."

Update: Some solo tracks from Claudine Chirac added below. She played sax as well as synths.
