NAMM 2019: Noir et Blanc Vie Demonstrates UNO Synth

Published on Feb 4, 2019 ikmultimedia

"Watch as musician and YouTube personality Noir et Blanc Vie demonstrates the small yet mighty UNO Synth ultra-portable analog synthesizer.

UNO Synth is the ultimate portable, monophonic, true analog synthesizer and IK Multimedia’s entry in the hardware synthesizer world.

We combined our two decades of experience in software and hardware development with the expertise of Italian boutique synth-maker Soundmachines and IK’s synth guru, Erik Norlander (one of the brains behind acclaimed synths like the Alesis Andromeda). The result is a no-compromise instrument with massive analog sound that’s also easy to use with hands-on programmability and advanced features at an unbeatable price."

MATRIXSYNTH gets a mention at 10:05. :)

I remember the early days of Jexus, aka WC Olo Garb - click through for a history of WC Olo Garb posts on MATRIXSYNTH - you can scroll down through the years back to the first post back on 9/18/2005 - he also went by polaranta on Flickr. In the beginning there were synth pics followed by the videos. For all posts mentioning "Jexus" click here. He had and continues to have quite an influence on others in the synth community.

You can find some synth patches from Jexus, spotted by Soviet Space Child here: http://jexus.id.uw.edu.pl/WCOG_Synth_Patches/

"***FYI: All background music was provided to me by Jexus personally, bless him.***

Hey guys, so this is the trailer for a 2 part series of Great Synth Mysteries. I'll be completing the editing sooner than later, but for now just know this was long time in the making and was done in collaboration with Jexus. Some of us like myself miss him as he was a big inspiration. Stay patient as these are two of my longest videos to date. Thank you."

I'm looking forward to this one. If you don't know who Jexus aka WC Olo Garb is, click here, scroll and enjoy. You'll find his video demos of synths and tons of references to him. The references are a reflection of his influence. Don't forget to click NEXT when you get to the bottom of the page.

P.S. The first post to feature Jexus was this one back in 2006. :)

P.P.S. I just updated the video sizes for all previous posts featuring Jexus. If you clicked through and saw the older smaller video embeds, you can now go back and see them "full" size.

ONE MINUTE SYNTH REVIEW!!! Ep. 18 IK Multimedia UNO (Halloween Special)

Published on Nov 6, 2018 Noir Et Blanc Vie

"**ALL MUSIC IN REVIEW (Except drums) CREATE ON THE IK UNO**

Hey guys and gals, so better late than never am I right? LOL. So I finally got my hands on the IK Multimedia Uno. I personally wanted to try it our for quite a while, IK has such a long history making great software that I had to see what they’d bring to the hardware market. I bought this at Guitar Center myself so don’t worry, this isn’t sponsored and maybe it shows in my review, but that’s what I like doing. Anyways, enjoy the haunting and FINAL episode of OMSR. Love you all :)"

Noir Et Blanc Vie: Modular Minutes with 4MS

Published on Sep 25, 2018 Noir Et Blanc Vie

"Three really great modules from 4ms, who I might as well admit always have some of the best Eurorack designs around. This is more or less a mini-series of sorts. The Shuffling clock multiplier, Stereo Triggered Sampler and Tapographic Delay, might as well watch them all since there won’t be another video till October 30th BWAHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAH!

Full Transparency 4ms sent me these modules many months ago and did not ask me to review them. I asked them for these to help with the Eurorack for Beginners series, but they were not able to provide them at that time so unfortunately these Modular Minutes are coming quite later than I’d have liked. They allowed me full creative control which I made sure I got hence, there is a contract stating that I can say whatever I want. I want to make sure everyone knows this as transparency and honestly is my goal."

The BEST Eurorack Tape Delay module?

Published on Aug 21, 2018 Noir Et Blanc Vie

"Hey guys, let’s check out the newest offering from Strymon. The module was a pleasure to use over the last few months. Strymon definitely knows their way around an effects unit, I really enjoyed the looping portion of the module just for fun jamming. It’s also basically control per function in a small amount of HP which is impressive design wise. Overall I think the Magneto is not just the best X-man, but the best delay module haha"

BEST Affordable Analog Drums for Eurorack?

Published on Aug 7, 2018 Noir Et Blanc Vie

"Hey Guys, let's take a look at the Delptronics LDB-2e and the LDB-2x. These modules have been some of my most favorite recently. I'm not huge into performing live with my modular setup, but these two really help get all the drums I need for typical live playing to my sets.
This is probably the most affordable way into a bunch of Analog Eurorack drums sounds"

Noir Et Blanc Vie: Top 3 synths I REGRET not buying

Published on Jul 10, 2018 Noir Et Blanc Vie

"I think we all know this feeling, when we wanted to buy a synth and the price was right, but we passed it up. Now all we do is look back and think, if only we had got it right then. Now we live with synth regret, realizing that even though we could have the cost is just too much. Tell me in the comments the synths you passed up on and what you want, but may never own!"

What are you regrets?

A few I regret not picking up which were actually for sale were Delia Derbyshire's VCS3 Putney and a Synton Syrinx both being sold by Spectrum's Sonic Boom, the Jomox Sunsyn, LL Electronic Rozzbox, and an army green Waldorf Microwave 1. I regret them because they were actually attainable considering what they were. On the not so affordable list there were a few ARP 2500s, Emu Modulars, EMS SYNTHI 100, Buchla gear, EMS SYNTHIs, and Waldorf Waves I've spotted for sale over the years. And The Schmidt, let's not forget The Schmidt. I'm sure there were others...

I do have an OB-6 (desktop), and an XTk on Noir Et Blanc Vie's list and love them both. Never picked up an Easel though.

Great Synth Mysteries Ep. 1 Whatever Happened to the Access Virus - Virus Ti3?

Published on Jul 3, 2018 Noir Et Blanc Vie

"***FYI: All background music played on Virus Indigo.***
Let's take a look back at the Access Virus, one of my favorite synths EVAR! It's been a while since the Virus Ti2, and while we patiently wait for the possible Virus Ti3, maybe there are some clues as to what happened to stalled the development almost a decade ago. Let me know what you guys think!

Let's see if it lives up to all the praise!"
