Ciat-Lonbarde Plumbutter V2 ★ Strymon Big Sky & Timeline ★ Foxtex X18 Tape Machine ★ ON THE VINE ★

Published on Oct 28, 2018 Jay Frederick

"First outing with the Ciat-Lonbarde Plumbutter v2. You could call it a semi modular patchable synth. You could call it a drum and drama machine. But I am quickly learning that it's actually a box of strange magic. As always, thanks for listening.

Ciat-Lonbarde Plumbutter short demo

Published on Jan 20, 2013 d4nnyp·11 videos

"Not many Plumbutter vids up so thought I would do a short demo. Simple patch not doing anything too exciting, only part of any note to PB users is using the Dust output to trigger the Ultrasound (Snare and Dust are both CV'd from the orange output of a Gongue.)

Plumbutter is a cottage made drum (and drama) machine by Ciat-Lonbarde. Its possibly my favourite drum machine ever. Its very addictive to play and can lead to some very interesting rhythms. I will do a longer improv video when i have more time."

Mroztronium Pipsqueak Touch-Controlled Noise Synthesizer

Published on Sep 28, 2018 hajimmie

Playlist:

1. Mroztronium Pipsqueak and Bugbrand COFilter
Pipsqueak out to COFilter, the output is also used to modulate COFilter. since the mixer is passive voltage is dropped and maybe a bit weak for the modulation.
2. Mroztronium Pipsqueak (take #2)
Pipsqueak with zoom MS70CDR
3. Noise meditation - Plumbutter with Pipsquak [plumbutter jam #20]
Ciat-lonbarde Plumbutter gets external modulation by Mroztronium Pipsqueak

via Mroztronium

"A new portable touch-controlled noisy synthesizer from Mroztronium. Spiritually inspired by the Cracklebox, Bugbrand Weevil and other touch-controlled instruments, but using a unique circuit developed by Mroztronium that is designed for unpredictable results, wide frequency range (from sub-audio to above human hearing), sensitive touch control and stereo operation.

It is a touch-sensitive electronic instrument that directly interfaces with your fingers and takes advantage of the many quirks of the CD4046 Phase Locked Loop. Pipsqueak uses a pair of these chips cross-connected and set up in such a way that they are generally silent unless provoked via the touch pads. The touch pads enable a very convoluted cross-modulation scheme that make the two outputs related in a stereo way. You can also think of it as a standalone "noise machine" if you wish.

It features a pair of 1/4" outputs that emit rectangle waves, complex pulse trains, triggers or complex noisy waveforms in the region of 0-9V depending on how it is touched. In addition to listening to the raw stereo output, you can also use it as a complex controller to gate/trigger and frequency modulate external CV/Gate equipment. It is an interesting way to spice up a modular synth patch or to turn an otherwise predictable synthesizer into a freakish improvisational instrument.

Pipsqueak is available for $100 including shipping in the US. By default, these ship with 1/4" output jacks, but 3.5mm "minijack" versions are available upon request.

It is also intended as an instrument that we can build together in a workshop and is suitable for both beginners and more advanced builders. If you are interested in hosting a small group workshop in your town, please get in touch."

"from Ciat-lonbarde:

There is a new plumbutter, which we will herein call "plumbutter2". It is very much similar to the old plumbutter, but in a new slim case. The sigils are engraved rather than printed. Still features the signature mulberry, walnut and sassafras woodage. Aux inputs and outputs remain. Besides housekeeping mods to clean the sound, there are two special new mods:
The stereo mixer section now has CV inputs. They act to in a stereo manner: a signal going up on "verso" makes the right side louder and the left side quieter, and the opposite for "inverso".
Avdogs are now stereo: each one undulates in the left channel and the right channel, back and forth.
The snare drum is now much louder"

Plumbutter - Patch 001

Published on Nov 13, 2015 batchas

"I unpacked the Plumbutter made by Ciat-Lonbarde and this is what I got after only 15 mins trying it out.
I spent the first 10 mins trying to understand how the colour scheme works. Once I knew where are ins and outs, it started to live."

Footage in this one reminded me of Baraka.

CV recording from Plumbutter into Cocoquantus

just playing with the idea of recording CV signals I don't think it works perfectly but I don't have a scope to really see"

The Ciat Lonbarde PlumButter @ Groundloup

”My name is Plumbutter. My face is a psycho-geographical map of the cities of Baltimore and Cleveland. I am a drum-machine, but let me tell you I am more than that, for I also am a “drama machine”. Thus there exists in me, a dialectic between drum and drama, like cops and gangsters, male versus female, or rural versus urban. You can see my wild spaces are represented by a deer-horn, and my downtown by a factory, and in between, a vast swath of suburban developments. It is a gradient of these three areas- urban, suburban, and rural- that informs my electronic synthesis.”

Forst, West Germany | SE-02, Plumbutter, Minidisc, OP1, Fieldkit FX, Thyme

Published on Aug 5, 2018 HAINBACH

"The last piece in my holiday series - back home today. The Ciat-Lonbarde Plumbutter is a beautiful filter - running the Roland SE-02 through it gives wide stereo movement and adds even more warmth to this tiny but powerful synthesizer.

Minidisc plays lyrics I sung and cut-up through the lovely delay and frequency shifter on the Field Kit FX, OP1 is the choir patch.'
